We have stayed here several times. The hotel is in a great location, very close
to the beach and right on Denman Street with many dining and drink choices in
the area. You can walk up the side street to view
the West End neighborhood as well. The hotel rooms are average and somewhat in
need of a re-decoration but they are large and most have spectacular views of
the skyline and/or mountains. There is a full scale gym next door with a free
pass included and a couple of restaruants on site. Definitely not a five star
hotel but one I would highly recommend for the location and views.

The Coast Plaza Hotel is a good hotel for a short break in Vancouver, i would
not recommend to stay here for long periods of time. The exterior of the hotel
looks a bit shabby but the hotel is at least making an effort in improving this.
The hotel is located well in the downtown district. There are many small but
pleasant restaurants blending in with the cosmopolitan downtown area. Down the
road close to Stanley Park, the harbour area is filled with expensive but
quality restaurants and some larger chain hotels.
The hotel unfortunately was not up to what i thought i had booked. The rooms
were dated and i was on the 4th floor of the block. This ment i overlooked a
poorly maintained roof which looked as if it had not been cleaned since the
hotel was opened. Also the hotel did not have the room available which i had
booked, so two uncomfortable 1930's hospital looking beds replaced what i had
booked!
The staff still seemed to manage a difficult situation well. The hotel
restaurant was clean and the food was nice.
Unfortunately i would not be returning to the Coast but this is only due to my
dark and dingy 4th floor room. I'm sure that on higher floors things may be
different.
