If you want to stay in the middle of everything, and not spend a load of cash,
this is it.
However, if you're squeamish about the grittiness of urban nightlife--you may
want to reconsider staying here. It's not a business hotel, it's not a family
hotel. There's no doubt about your security once you are inside the hotel, and
the rooms are absolutely silent despite the bustling streets below. If you're
they type to be nervous about parking your car overnight in an outdoor lot, you
might want to ask if there are any indoor options nearby. The hotel lot is a
public parking lot on a dark corner which gets a lot of traffic.
Otherwise, this property is perfect if you're looking to spend a weekend
enjoying Vancouver, eating out, shopping, all that fun stuff.
The rooms are small but very modern, the staff is highly professional. The
breakfast is quite exceptional, too. The hotel has a very European flair in
design and service.
The design of the hotel is a bit odd, and requires carrying your bags up several
half flights of stairs, so it's not a great place if you like to over pack, or
aren't good with stairs.

We stayed at the comfort inn downtown Vancouver in December, its an old hotel
that has been completely renovated, the hotel is connected to a bar and everyone
who works at the hotel/bar is very nice and friendly, if your staying in
Vancouver and want to do alot of shopping and experience downtown I highly
recommend this hotel we had an excellent stay.

We just returned from a five night stay at the Comfort Inn Downtown. The hotel
was in a convenient location - we walked everywhere in the downtown area and
only used our car for trips outside the city We did not feel that the
neighborhood outside the hotel was unsafe, but it was definitely LOUD. Even my
college age sons remarked about the late night street noise. There were police
cars outside the hotel three of the five nights we spent at the hotel (In the
1:00 - 4:00 AM time period) It looked like they were dealing with rowdy - not
dangerous behaviour.
I booked a 2 Queen bed room with a sitting area, at an excellent rate. The
sitting area included a sofa sleeper, so the room could accommodate up to six
people. The room was nicely decorated and was extremely clean. My husband and I
were traveling with our two college age sons who prefer to have their own beds,
so we used all three beds. When the sofa bed was open there was very little room
to get around and not much room for luggage. The room suited us perfectly
because we travel on a budget, are light packers and really only use our hotel
room to sleep when we vacation. If you are a party of more than four and you
wanted to spend more time in the room you would probably find it cramped. An
adequate breakfast was included with the price of the room. Parking in their lot
was $14/night.

Stayed here on two occasions of 2 nights each. The hotel messed up the agent's
booking and gave us a smoking room rather than non-smoking. After a significant
amount of complaining, we were offered another quad room which was barely big
enough to swing a cat let alone 4 people. After further complaining they
promised us VIP treatment for the last 2 nights of our holiday. This too was
messed up and we ended up in an even smaller room. The error was only corrected
for the last night of our stay. As far as the hotel itself is concerned, the
rooms are OK and the whole place was clean and tidy. The breakfast was adequate
if ordinary. The hotel is no more than a brisk 10 minute walk to downtown
Vancouver, Harbour Centre, Canada Place, Look Out Tower, Gastown, Yaletown,
False Creek etc. On the other hand, beggars, junkies, strip and lap dancing
clubs, [--] shops and assorted other seedy joints are all within 2 minutes along
with very noisy clubs, bars and fast food places. There were 3 incidents
involving the need for police attendance on the 4 nights we stayed there. I
cannot say that I was overly concerned personally, but wife and children were.
Overall, I would say that although the place is convenient for downtown and the
accommodation broadly OK, the overall impression and value for money is not so
good.
