Stayed 7 nights at the Fairmont Waterfront in a 'Portside Deluxe Room'. Room was
extremely comfortable - king size bed, lounge chair, business desk, internet
access, cable TV coffee maker and well appointed bathroom. Great view across the
port to North Vancouver and mountains. Friendly staff who were more than happy
to assist with anything. Hotel has a great 'Health Club' with plenty of modern
excerise exquipment - cardio machines, freeweights, swiss balls etc, indoor and
outdoor pools (was a bit cold for the outdoor pool while we were there tho!!!).
Great access to public transport - internal access from the hotel to the
sky-train and the ferry terminal. Tourist info office right next door. Easy
walking to downtown shopping, attractions and restaurants. The hotel restaurant
definitely looked very nice - but we ate out as part of our exploration of the
city.
More than happy with our stay, and would definitely stay there again.

This hotel has an excellent location on the waterfront, and only a few blocks
away from areas like gastown, downtown and stanley park.
The club class level offered superb service from staff, very good breakfast each
morning, snacks and drinks during the day and the staff were able to book and
recommend anything you needed.
The hotel was well presented, very clean and everything you would expect from a
5 star resort.
One of the concierge asked where our tour took us next, and when stating 'to a
Sheraton', he stated 'there are no other hotels that Fairmont'. After staying
here i definitely want to stay at other Fairmont's around the world.

At a recent convention I attended, I stayed at this hotel as it was the
conference headquarters. Able to finish business early, I decided to go home one
day earlier than I had originally intended. When I went
to check out I was advised that I would be charged an early departure penalty
that was actually greater than the room rate. After some
"discussion" the penalty was reduced to the room rate and I was then told that
had I booked on my own rather than going through the conference office, I would
not have been charged this penalty.
Nowhere on their reservation information does it indicate that this penalty
would be charged!

I was at a conference in Vancouver and stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront for 4
days in October. It was quite cold and rainy, but that's Vancouver for you!
Fairmont hotels are some of my favs in the world and I really enjoyed this
property...
The GOOD
- Perfect location...
* Across the street from the convention center
* 5 mins walk to Gastown
* 5 mins walk to Granville Street for bars and club
* 5 mins walk to Robson Street for shopping
- Outstanding service
- Great business center staff - these folks saved my butt a few times that week
The NOT-SO GOOD
- Expensive, but that goes for all Fairmont properties, all that also goes for
not only room rates, but all meals as well
- About 30 mins and $40 from the airport
Overall, a great stay in Vancouver.
** I absolutely would recommend this property and I would definitely stay there
again. **

Location: The Fairmont is located on the waterfront. It’s within throwing
distance of the ‘gastown’ area, which contains some great restaurants,
interesting shops, regular shopping, and the famous ‘steam clock’. The view from
the water-facing side of the hotel is very nice, especially if you enjoy
watching sea planes take off and land. This Fairmont is connected to a
below-street-level mini mall, which adds another level of convenience. It’s
about a 20 minute walk along the waterfront, to the famous Stanley Park.
Check-in: The check in process was extremely quick, courteous, and professional.
Layout: The lobby and restaurant area are all conveniently located on the first
floor, and it’s not at all difficult to navigate to the rooms from the elevator.
Rooms: The rooms are spacious and very clean. The bed was very comfortable, but
the pillows were just so-so. The linens were exceptionally clean, however. The
water pressure in the shower was a little anemic, but there was plenty of hot
water, and the consistency of the water temp was good. I did notice that the
water was “soft”, in that you have to wash twice as long to get the soapy,
‘slippery’ feel off your skin. I’d imagine that’s the same anywhere you’d stay
in that area, however. The room had an iron / ironing board, and fridge /
minibar. Besides the view, my favorite part of the room was the wide-screen
HDTV. Very nice.
Service: The housekeeping service was just fine. I haven’t had many experiences
with Fairmont hotels, but one of the things that seems to be consistent among
them, is the presence of many doormen, pursers, concierge personnel, and others
who are happy to give you whatever help you need. For elderly travelers, or for
those with special needs, this would be enough for me to pay a little more for
the Fairmont level of service.
Restaurants: There is a restaurant on site which serves 3 meals a day, but I
didn’t eat any of them there.
Internet: There is a fee to use the internet, but I never had trouble connecting
or staying connected. The speed was just fine for everything I needed to do.
Gift Shop: There isn’t one...you have to go downstairs to the attached
mini-mall, or down the street to the shopping district.
Summary: The Vancouver Waterfront Fairmont is an extremely nice place to stay.
My satisfaction, however, is largely based on the fact that someone else paid
the bills, and the fact that we were able to get a discount thru a local
university, which resulted in paying about half of the original $400+ nightly
rate. While I was extremely happy with everything, I think I probably could have
found better value for my own money somewhere else.
