I was very pleased with my recent stay at Park Plaza Hotel in Vancouver, B.C. I was on the fifth floor and had a fantastic view of False Creek, Granville Island, downtown Vancouver and the mountains beyond. I enjoyed watching the boats and seeing the city lights come up in the evening. I had everything I needed in my room (including a microwave and frig), and everything functioned perfectly, including the heat when it turned chilly. All of the hotel staff were friendly,
professional and helpful. I even received a call a half-hour after check-in, to see if I needed anything. That was a first for me. There
was a drugstore (which also sold food) across the street, and bus stops were right near the hotel. It was a quick two block walk to the sea wall foot and bike path as well as a park. I was close enough
to walk to Granville Island where I could pick up a water taxi. All in all, a wonderful stay for a good price.

My traveling friend booked the room through an agency and we were both quite pleased with the hotel. The location was good and convenient since we had a car but it is not downtown and would require taking a taxi or using public transportation to get around otherwise. The room was a nice size, well appointed and clean. The bathroom was upscale with a marble vanity and tile. The room came with both a microwave and a small fridge which came in handy. The hotel parking garage was convenient but pretty cramped and the cost ($8 CAD per day) was average. I did not eat in the hotel restaurant but my friend did and said it was good and average cost. There are several restaurants, coffee shops, fast food and a drugstore within a block or two walk. We were on the first floor facing the street so there was some street noise but as long as the balcony door was closed it was fine. The HVAC unit worked fine as well. It would be much nicer higher up with a view of downtown and the mountains but the hotel was booked up and we arrived too late to score one of the higher floors. They have a small workout room but I didn't check it out. The hotel personnel were friendly but didn't go out of their way to be helpful. They were able to provide some cash exchange for us so we could pay for parking elsewhere, etc. Overall it was a great stay and I would recommend it and stay there again if I had a car with me.

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years and will continue to stay in the future. I've had to stay in Vancouver for Medical reasons and this hotel could be more convenient to VGH. The rooms have been updated recently and the view is UNBELIEVABLE, but you need to make sure you book a room facing North towards the mountains and the water. It's only slightly more expensive and worth every penny.

I've read some of the other reviews indicating the staff are rude and restaurant isn't great but that isn't my experience at all. The hotel has a lot of staff that have worked there for years and know me everytime I come. Some of the new people are really great too. They have helped me making dinner reservations, find a movie to go to, driving directions, lost luggage from the airlines and everything else too.

This is not a 5 star hotel, but then I haven't paid 5 star prices. I definitely recommend this hotel.
