I've stayed at the Renaissance in Vancouver twice now over the past two years
and have always enjoyed my stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the
staff is very hospitable. I love the indoor pool and hot-tub and the fitness
center is very large for a hotel.
I've also always valet-parked my car since it is only $6 more ($25 / night) then
self-park. Unfortunately, my girlfriend self-parked ($19 / night) and we found
her car in the morning with a smashed window and stolen GPS. Both valet and
self-park are in the same garage but I guess the valet level may be more secure
or at least have more activity with the ins and outs of guests and staff.
According to security, they experience at least one reported break-in per week
since any one off the street can walk into the garage. There is only one
security guard assigned to patrol multiple levels of parking. The hotel comp'ed
our parking for the night (gee you think?!) and sent housekeeping with a shop
vac to clean up the gas. They also sent maintenance to tape up the window (we
are from Seattle so the car had to get back into the States for repairs) but he
did such a poor job that the plastic blew off before leaving the city. So if
you're headed to this hotel, either take your chances and valet park or see if
the Marriott directly across the street has a more secure parking garage (I
believe they have a locked gate).

This hotel gives you exactly what you would expect from a Marriot however is far
too overpriced. You have to pay for internet which is disapointing too.
The hotel service is great though and the food is too.
The hotel is also a little further out of the way.

I've stayed at this hotel twice. First time I had a city view, which was nice.
Second time I had a harborview. Nice to look out and see the seaplanes land.
With the construction across the street, the water view is partially blocked.
Both rooms have great beds and nice linens. Wallpaper is an odd blue star patern,
but oh well. None of the interior seemed to be the same (wallpaper, chairs,
curtains, etc but the bedding was the simple white). Didn't eat at the hotel.
Pool area is nice. I would stay there again.

Stayed here for 2 nights in early October. Very clean and comfortable room. I
was disappointed that they actually charge for in-room internet access, but that
is my only complaint. It's not the Pan-Pacific, but it's still a really good
hotel. Construction will diminish the great views of Coal Harbour going forward,
but for now it's still nice.

We stayed at the hotel because we were leaving the next day on a cruise. It was
very convenient to the Canada Place cruise facility. Unfortunately, our ship
left out of Ballantyne pier which is not walkable.
The hotel is OK. It is completely non-smoking, which is a big plus. It was
quiet. The building was secure, you needed a room key to get to your floor and
then the doors were reinforced. The room was in good condition and we did not
use any of the other facilities. On the negative side, the room was small, the
bathroom smaller and the bed was not very good.
Check in went smoothly. There was a issue with the price but it was resolved at
the desk (they had not given me the AAA rate) but I had a printout from my
travel agent showing the rate.
The location is good. We went up to Robson Street. We recommend the Bread Garden
right off it, the HON (House of Noodles) Dim Sum but could not recommend
Moonpennies.
All in all, I would give this a 3 1/2. For the amount of money we paid, I think
that we could have done better.
