| TRAVELER REVIEWS: Nov 4, 2007
We stayed at this delightful hotel for 3 nights in September, 2006 just before
boarding our cruise ship.
It is in a wonderful position, close to all the shops and we were given a lovely
front room. We had a weekend package with bed and breakfast which we felt was
good value.
The only downside was that we ate in their Bacchus Restaurant one night and we
felt the meal was rushed. We were out within 45 minutes which to us was far too
rapid. We do like to linger over a meal especially when we are paying top
dollar.
That is our only criticism of a great hotel.

The Wedgewood staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and made us
feel that nothing was too much trouble. They continued to look after our every
need with efficiency we had not experienced elsewhere in Canada for the duration
of our short stay. The rooms were large and very comfortable, the staff
knowledgeable and friendly and the food was some of the best we ate on our three
week trip; this was made more enjoyable by the eagerness of the restaurant staff
to adapt meals to suit dietary requirements / whims!
I couldn't recommend the Wedgewood highly enough as a very luxurious and
comfortable base to explore Vancouver from whether it is for business or
pleasure. If i return to Vancouver I will definitely be giving the Wedgewood a
call!

Stayed at the Wedgewood Aug 18-22 celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. I
was a little nervous, given the couple of less-than-wonderful reviews I read on
trip advisor. For those of you questioning whether or not to go, I must say: DO
NOT HESITATE booking at the Wedgewood! I simply cannot say enough wonderful
things about the Wedgewood and the amazing staff. Upon arrival, we were greeted
by the friendliest doorman (Martin) who made a great first impression. He was
always quick to retrieve our car, hold the door open for us, or hail a cab for
us. The staff at the Reception Desk were ALWAYS cheerful and helpful, and
especially our dear Gillian, who helped us numerous times, always with a smile.
Our Deluxe Executive Room room was terrific -- loved the bed (comfy with great
linens) and absolutely perfect pillows. TV was large and easy to see from bed
and was housed in a lovely armoire. The TV was also visible from the in-room tub
(which was great fun and was CLEAN). I adored the marble bathroom and
magnificent shower, which was made of tumbled marble tile -- just lovely! Frette
towels were divine. Dinner at Bacchus (the on-site restaurant) was just amazing
... great food (try the mussel soup!), warm, romantic ambiance. We had drinks in
the lounge one night and were so comfortable that we stayed for dinner. On the
day of our 30th anniversary, we treated ourselves to massages in the Spa, and
what a delight!!!! If you want to stay in a hotel that makes you feel pampered
in every way, go to the Wedgewood. As I said, I was a little nervous, but if you
are appreciative of fine antiques, lovely Oriental carpets and other special
pieces, you will love this place ... very "upscale European" feel to it,
although the rooms are certainly larger than any you will find in Europe! I
searched for MONTHS AND MONTHS for a place to go to celebrate our 30th, and I
was not disappointed. The biggest compliment to the Wedgewood was my husband's
reaction -- he was thrilled with the place, and did not want to leave. I simply
cannot imagine how someone would think the place is "worn" or "tired" -- a
competitor writing a review, perhaps? I am only writing this review to assure
potential customers that they WILL NOT be disappointed if they stay at the
Wedgewood. I only dream that one day I can go back .. .

This was a very pleasant 5 night stay at the start of our holiday in Canada. The
staff were polite, courteous and knowledgeable. Check-in and valet parking were
swift and efficient, and the room (304) was large, with the bath in the main
room, and a separate large shower and bathroom. Toiletries and towels were
plentiful and kept well stocked, and the bed was really comfortable. The room
was clean and tidy, and the turndown cookies were divine! It was a nice touch as
well to have a welcome box of chocolates with a hand-written note from the
owner.
The gym is tiny, and you would be advised to get there by 0800 to avoid waiting
for a turn, but this was OK for us as we were not yet keyed into the 8 hr time
difference. The hotel was able to book excellent restaurants for us, give hints
as to what was good, shopping places, book ferry tickets etc. We ate breakfast
there once (excellent) and dinner once (very very good). There are lots of other
places to eat round town within 5-30 minutes walking distance. Cin Cin was good,
but C was a really good meal, sitting outside overlooking Granville Island and
watching the sun go down. Very memorable.
It was great that the staff remembered us when we were back for 1 night a week
later after our return from Vancouver Island. Little things like this make this
hotel truly memorable. If we go to Vancouver again, we would not even consider
staying anywhere else.

This is a luxurious and well run environment. The staff are very helpful and
nothing is too much trouble. Valet parking was prompt and efficient in a busy
part of Vancouver. The restaurant and lounge bar provided excellent food,
including catering for our various dietary needs and personal preferences. It
was one of the few hotels we visited where vegans weren't reduced to eating
lettuce and tomatoes.
It is worth surfing the agencies to get a good price for a hotel that will prove
well worth the money. The element of personal service is strong in the
management here so most needs can be met with a conversation. All six of us
loved this place and would happily return tomorrow!
