The Charlie Schulz Philosophy
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts'
comic strip.
You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight
through and you'll get the point.
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers.
They are the best in their fields.
But the applause dies...
Awards tarnish.
Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.
Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile...
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special!!
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

The lesson:
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most
credentials... the most money...or the most awards.
They simply are the ones who care the most

THE COFFEE OR THE CUP
This really is profound, I am going to try and keep this in mind the next time I
feel 'stressed' . .
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit
their
old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress
in work and life.
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with
a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass,
crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to
help
themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:
'If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving
behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the
best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured
that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more
expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really
wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups...
And then you began eyeing each other's cups.
Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society
are
the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we
have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live. Sometimes, by
concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee provided us.'
Brew the coffee, not the cups . Enjoy your coffee!

of everything.'
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
