Guest Reviews of the Best Western Sands Hotel Vancouver

After getting off a 14 hour light I was greeted warmly. After reading some
average reviews I was worried bout getting a road side room. The room was clean
and well presented. No issues with bus noise at all. I even stayed the night of
a Canucks hockey game and of course there was a little noise after a great win
but if you want pure silence don't stay in an international city centre.
Staff were very helpful, great location to English bay and Stanley park. Would
definitely stay again.

we needed a hotel the night before our cruise. some folks were concerned because
this hotel is not near the port. Since we had an entire day in Vancouver ,we
loved that it was near English Bay and Stanley Park, as well as places to eat
and shop. The room was clean and the staff was friendly.

Unfriendly check in staff, run down lobby, half renovated rooms and thin walls
combined with NOISY cleaning staff who start at 6 am. Forget trying to get some
sleep. If the maids don't wake you up, the pot smoke in the hallway might.

Perfect for your leisure trip to this most wondrous of cities, the Sands is in
an ideal location just yards from
English Bay and on the very edge of beautiful
Stanley Park. Buses wait outside the door to transport you to the downtown core
and an inexpensive day pass will ensure that you miss few of its attractions.
The hotel is clean and efficient with extremely comfortable beds and small, but
well equipped rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful, a malfunctioning coffee
maker was immediately replaced with a new one.
Breakfast, as in most Vancouver hotels, is not included and the in-house
restaurant, Checkers, can be quite pricey. However, within one block, there are
several good value eateries. One excellent one we found is the Red Umbrella,
less than a block along Davie. It is unpretentious but friendly and serves an
excellent, good-value breakfast.
It is well worth visiting the hotel's Bayshore Lounge. With magnificent views
over Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains it is one of those places you
could linger for hours. A great hotel in Vancouver

Great location close to Stanley Park and public transit.
Downtown Vancouver was not too
far away. It is an older hotel and the room was smallish but the location and
price made me very very forgiving. Friendly and very efficient staff. I used
Priceline for a good deal and would be happy to stay at the BW Sands again.

Picked this hotel for a one week stay during a trip out west to visit our son
and sightsee based on reviews as well as price and location and was not
disappointed. The location is great, just a few minutes away from Stanley Park
and the beach. Cherry blossom trees and rhododendrons were beautiful this time
of year. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, housekeeping does a great job
there. Double King Room exactly as shown in hotel pictures. We were facing the
street on the second floor and had no noise problem whatsoever. Stayed on
Granville St. the last time we were in Vancouver and was much noisier there from
the nightclubs but did not have that issue this time at all. We had a couple of
meals at Checkers Restaurant which were very good and reasonably priced, also
enjoyed the karaokee one night. Some of the locals who got up were pretty good.
Tim Hortons right across the street is a bonus, also Starbucks next door. Would
definitely stay there again if back in Vancouver.
