No pool...no hot tub...no view...hotel under renovation and not told
about conditions before check in. If management hides something so
obvious what isn't seen and may be hiding under the covers???

We chose this hotel because it was listed as a comfortable extended
stay, had a pool and spa, and a gorgeous view from out 19th floor room.
We arrived at a hotel undergoing very, very extensive reconstruction,
the pool and spa were shut down for renovations (and the 5-minute drive
to an alternative pool was not an alternative on our schedule) and the
"view" from our 19th floor room consisted of scaffolding, building
materials and hard-hat wearing workmen climbing on the balcony at
various unannounced times during the day. The constant drilling and
hammering until 5pm was impossible.
I thought that it was considerably rude not to inform us of these
disruptive renovations beforehand and that the very reasons we chose
this hotel (view/spa) were not available. An absolutely horrible
experience.

AlSo what if the hotel is being renovated, Vancouver is such an exciting
city, what on earth are you doing just sitting in your room watching the
scaffold ?
Check-in was a bit difficult because Expedia had sent only half of my
surname, but the front desk sorted it all out pretty pronto.
The rooms are large with a kitchenette and lounge and very clean. Beds
and pillows fantastic. Breakfast was included and was all self services;
really fresh fruits available along with a banquet of pastries or a hot
breakfast. Front desk was always friendly and helpful in arranging cabs
or giving directions.
I hope to return to Vancouver one day with my family and would have no
hesitation on recommending and staying at this hotel whether you are a
family or business traveler

We stayed here before going on a cruise. We knew about the work being
done to the hotel because we checked the hotel website beforehand. We
figured that since the work was between 9 am and 5 pm it wouldn't
matter, we'd be out sightseeing. Right: it did not bother us at all.
Even opened our (10th floor) window to chat to the workman one morning -
think it gave him a surprise!! Our room was huge: two king size beds, a
large couch, desk, coffee table and kitchenette. Everything was
spotless. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice, and you could eat as
much as you wanted (to prepare you for a day of sightseeing). Laundry
was good - we were able to wash our clothes before going on the ship. It
was very central, handy for the buses. There is a cafe just round the
corner; think it's called BG - does a FANTASTIC thai curry - and not
dear either! Very comfortable hotel, I'd definitely come back! Free
internet in lobby let us check our emails (we chose to delete the
internet history afterwards - so nobody couldaccess ourdetails)

Dreary seventies style room. We paid for a "deluxe" room which, while
clean, was tired inside. the kitchenette was cheap and nasty, while we
were there they were renovating so we had workmen on the balcony
drilling all day. no view as there was scaffolding up . Staff were
friendly and helpful but overall dissatisfied.

Having booked this hotel through Canadian Affair for trip from Britain I
found it to be an excellent venue for visiting Vancouver.
Whilst an earlier reviewer had mentioned the current renovations and
scaffolding neither interfered with my stay here! {Ok, so your view
might be restricted but I did not stay here to gaze out of the windows!]
And it will be finished soon.
The friendly staff were exemplary they knew the answers and ensured
satisfaction
The hotel suites with built in kitchens (fridges/dishwashers) were
spacious, comfortable and very clean.
Breakfasts are always fully satisfying when everything is at your
fingertips and the food provided here was most satisfying. The staff
here too were very good and cheerful.
The hotel is not in the exact centre of Vancouver but is near enough to
enable anyone to see the sights with ease and it's a friendly and
beautiful city to wander round on foot or by touring 'trams'.
Room Tip: Speak to the receptionists they are there to help.

Reading prior reviews, I wonder how long this renovation has been going
on? We had plastic over our windows, which was a shame because I think
we had a view of the waterfront. Pool was closed, but we were offered a
pass to a facility 5 blocks away if we wanted to swim. Uh, no thanks.
Parking is $15 ( I think per day). The sleeping area of the room itself
was nice. It had 2 comfortable beds, a couch and a kitchenette with a
dishwasher! The water pressure in the shower was disappointing and the
bathroom fan was very loud. The breakfast was good - lots of choices and
the staff kept the eating area clean. We would probably stay here again.

Booked 2 rooms for 8 nights. Rooms were quite comfortable but a little
outdated. They are doing some refurbishment works at the moment to the
exterior of the hotel, but this is needed in the rooms too.
Breakfast in the morning was pretty decent (very good pork sausages) and
on the weekends they have a waffle maker! Would have appreciated this
waffle maker being out everyday!
Didn't get to use the swimming pool as this too was undergoing work
during our stay.
All in all, its a good comfortable property for the traveler on a
budget.
