The hotel is very nicely decorated and the staff are very attentive,
friendly, helpful. The decor is modern, contemporary but not cold. The
bed is the most comfortable we have ever slept in. It is well situated
for getting to everything w/o feeling like you are in the middle of a
city. We highly recommend it and esp. for the price. We stayed on the
floor where they service breakfast and it was delicious and a complete
breakfast. There's a great office area too where you can use the
computers. You can take the Canada line to w/in a few blocks of the
hotel and walk there w/ your bags if they roll. (Take the City Center
exit)
Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room and they put us in one that was
completely quiet.

Excellent top class hotel ideally situated for all attractions in
Vancouver. Check their web site - what you see is what you get !! Staff
very helpful and the concierge arranged tickets for
transport/attractions at no extra cost and gave good general advice
about the city. Outdoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and deck area were
spotless. We were encouraged to use the hop on/off trolley which uses a
red and blue route and allows use of other transport in the city +
seabus at no extra charge - highly recommended - the drivers are all
local and give a commentary. We used the city transport system, to see
Granville Island, Grouse Mountain, and Capilano Bridge and to get from
Island ferry terminal. Clean and cheap! A car is not necessary in
Vancouver area. Taxi used to get to R M'teer terminal - $10 CDN.

We stayed at L'Hermitage for a total of 5 nights spread over 2 visits,
at the beginning and end of our recent holiday in BC. We had a junior
suite for the 3 nights of our 1st stay which was superb, luxurious and
tasteful but not overwhelming. Sadly we could not get a junior suite for
our last 2 nights there as they were all ( unsurprisingly) fully booked.
However our room was equally lovely ,stylish and very quiet. The decor
of the hotel is very elegant and understated. The staff are really
brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble; they are unfailingly helpful and
courteous and a real credit to the hotel Breakfasts are delicious and a
variety of different foods are offered catering to all tastes .
L'Hermitage is quite small, which we really liked as it felt personal.
Many of the hotels in Vancouver are extremely large, and whilst I am
sure they are all very good they may lack the very personal and
individual service and ambience of L'Hermitage. It is also very central,
and convenient for Downtown, shopping in Robson Street and wandering
around Gastown or admiring the cruise liners at Canada Place. There is a
nice pool and a large outside hot-tub, perfect for resting the muscles
after a hard day sight-seeing.
European visitors to Vancouver, and Canada generally I believe, should
be aware that the check-in times in hotels are late by comparison to
Europe. We arrived about 12.20pm but could not check in until 4pm which
was rather inconvenient as we had just got off an 11 hour flight.
However it does say that in their literature, and they looked after our
luggage in the interim, gave us the use of the lounge and provided tea
and coffee.
I would certainly stay there again if I were to return to Vancouver and
recommend it most highly.

Chat to the staff at the front of the hotel for great tips and advice.
We found a great fun Japanese restaurant 15 minutes walk (Guu) in
Gastown, on recommendation of Sean at the front door.
