I travel a lot for business and this is by far one of the best hotels at which I've stayed. The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The guestrooms are so comfortable. I slept very well despite the fact I was on the first floor and on a busy street. The bathrooms are huge! I actually had a hard time getting out of the tub because it is so big and deep. Not a bad problem to have. The food in the restaurant is excellent and there is a decent selection for vegetarians. Next time I go back to Vancouver, I am staying at The St. Regis.

The hotel is in a great location - you can walk to most of the main tourist attractions. Free phone calls both national and international - plus free internet access. The pub adjoined to the hotel is fantastic - great atmosphere and food. The staff are really friendly and helpful - and honest (we accidentally left our safe wide open all day and were HUGELY relieved to discover nothing had been touched - including a large amount of cash, iphone, ipad, camera, etc, - even though the room had been serviced while we were out). Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.

I stayed here while I was in town with colleagues for a conference at the convention center and could not have been happier with the hotel. The service was truly outstanding. Brittany, Juan, and others at the front desk quickly learned our names and went out of their ways to anticipate our needs. A mistake on our bill was quickly resolved. When he heard that our room was having a roommate change on the last night, Juan checked which bed was switching over and made sure the sheets were changed without our having to ask. Location was great -- in the middle of the action, around the corner from the Skytrain to the airport, and a ten minute walk to the convention center. All of the included amenities (free phone calls anywhere in the world, faxes, internet, bottled water, and great breakfasts) kept the costs from adding up, and simplified our lives. Breakfasts were great -- you have your choice of one of three very complete breakfast packages made to order, but the cheerful and helpful staff had no problem with my straying from the script and ordering a la carte. The room itself (a "smart double") was not huge, but the bed was fine and everything was very clean and in working order. The housekeeping staff clearly takes pride in its work. The room was spotless always. If I'm ever back in Vancouver, it will be my first choice in a heartbeat!

This is one of those hotels where it feels very welcoming and relaxing to return to after a long day of sightseeing. For my wife and I, it was a great oasis. The lobby is quite small, and the rooms are, well, also kind of small but very clean, bright and comfortable with a window that opens to get some fresh air that made the room seem much bigger, especially while relaxing in the very comfortable bed. A nice perk is that breakfast is included: 2 eggs with choice of pig product, or omelette (a little overdone) with choice of three fillings, or the fruit/granola thing.

Centrally located to walk to the sights or easy to hop on the bus or SkyLink to other destinations. We stayed over the weekend and, despite all the corporate offices nearby, it was still very busy/lively at night. There are a couple of computers to check email/Trip Advisor and free international calling to catch up with folks back in the States. The staff is especially helpful and there is a nice bar right downstairs.

Overall, an excellent stay.

If you look up "how to provide a boutique hotel experience" in Wikipedia, you will find a photo of the St. Regis. Not even the loud and boisterous all-night-partying crowd following Game 5 of the Stanley Cup playoffs on the first of my three night here could detract from this excellent package of bread, circuses and attentive/friendly staff.

The rooms are small but well-appointed, with more spacious bathrooms than the square footage of the room would portend. The European plan breakfast is a terrific value, and the food plentiful, freshly prepared and cheerfully presented (great coffee, too). The free in-room wifi and business center wifi and comfy leather sofa library setting make an excellent place to meet a client (or a pal) before moving to the noisy and friendly on-premises pub.

For workaholic international business folk, here's the REAL value: free global phone service, with no strings. For under CAN$150 (my rate in association with the conference I attended), there is no better comfort-for-value to be found on my trips to Vancouver (or most other business destinations).

Bottom line: stay here. If you are in Vancouver on business or staging here for an Arctic cruise, add an extra night or two before and after those events and you won't be disappointed.
