Guest Review of the Holiday Inn Vancouver Centre on Broadway

Renovations reduced elevators from two to one. Lots of nearby
restaurants on Broadway. Staff was friendly. Close to really good public
transit. Building and contents showing their age. Free luggage storage.
However, there was nothing really compelling about this hotel that would
make me want to return.

The Holiday Inn is a short bus ride from downtown (take either the
number 9 or the 99 B-line and change at Granville), close to plenty of
Broadway restaurants, and just a couple of bus stops from a Sky Train
station. There's a coffee shop just next door. The hotel itself is
pretty reasonably priced . Rooms are spacious with king sized beds,
cable, and air conditioning. There's a heated (although not quite heated
enough) swimming pool, sauna and mini gym on the fifth floor. Ask for a
room on the 10th floor or above for the best views. Normal check out is
at midday, but if you ask they'll push it back to 2pm, which can be very
handy if it's a cold morning and you've nothing much to do

Convenient location.
It was being renovated - so it was very noisy and only one lift was
working. I think I should have been told before checking in that
extensive renovation was being undertaken.

Staff deceiving guests about renovations
Front desk staff were not telling guests that there would be no water in
their hotel from 11 pm until 6 am until AFTER they were all checked in.
7 of us staying there had to be at the hospital for my son's operation
by 6 am. We were all very upset when we were finally told by a note in
our bathroom that we would have no water to get prepared in the morning.
Had to sit at the front desk for over an hour to get our money refunded
to us and move to a new hotel. As we stood there we heard all the
deceptive ways the staff were informing people of the water problem.
They were even asking peope to 'please refrain from using the water'
during the night. Refrain from using the water - THERE WAS NO WATER. I
informed people myself when the staff used that little line. A lot of
guests checking in were furious that they were not told until AFTER they
completed their check in. Hotel extremely loud with renovations and
unrenovated rooms were run down and dingy. Will never stay here again.
Area recommendations
Staying at the Holiday Inn on #6 road or Bridgeport Road in Richmond was
excellent. Very nice rooms, and quiet

We picked this Holiday Inn because it isn't very expensive and is
conveniently located. The room was a decent size and clean. The hotel is
connected to a restaurant and lounge that we did not try. Broadway is a
busy street and there are several restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and a
drugstore within walking distance. There were free water bottles in the
lobby one day. No issues with staff. Overall my experience with this
Holiday Inn was OK
PROS:
Recycling bin in the room. Go Canada!
Easy to get downtown; we did it by car and bus.
Nice view of downtown skyline and mountains in background. Well, we had
a room with a view, but everyone can see it from the parking garage.
Sink in the bathroom, not separate and facing the bed. that means a lot
to me! An Extra Star just for that!
