Guest Review of the Loden Hotel Vancouver

The best part of The Loden experience was the staff. Truly
remarkable and genuinely great. Valets were awesome. My fiancé
and I stayed for four nights and it was a great trip. Even
Tableau (in hotel restaurant) was worth checking out. Finally,
the room was clean and well furnished. Turn down service was a
plus. Next time back in YVR, I'll go back to The Loden.

Stayed for a week. I liked the location which is great for
anything downtown or near the convention center. The room was
pretty good, well thought out and very clean. Good fitness room
and quiet too.
Things that irked me, and I am being picky here, but when I stay
someplace with this reputation....well...
1. The room service is awful. If you are going to offer it, do
it right. It took too long for orders to come up and whenever I
called (3 times) they would actually put me on hold to "check
and see if we can do it". What? They made me feel like the
weirdo for asking for a service they supposedly offered. And I
would always be transferred no matter which button I pressed on
the phone (room service, restaurant, front desk). And the pizza,
take it off the menu...just horrible.
2. When delivering a wake up call, don't just say "hello".
Something like "Good morning, this is your wake up call, have a
nice day" would work a little better.
3. The bed was a little lumpy to me and the curtains didn't
block the outside light at the top, which again is a personal
peeve of mine.
4. The bartender was just off. Just kind of introverted and
strange. I don't need you to talk my ear off, but at least act
like you have the slightest interest in making sure I feel
welcome.
4. HDTV with no HD channels.
5. Charging for internet, really? Come on!
At half the price of my usual hotel (Shangri-La), it should be a
bargain, but I left with the feeling of "I got what I paid for".
It doesn't have to be that way, all of the stuff that bothered
me might not bother others, but these are minor things that are
easy to fix and would go along way for me.

We stayed for 2 nights. The rooms are very quiet and clean. They
need to iron out a few kinks that would make it better for a
business traveller: ironing board + iron in the room would be
nice rather than a steamer and a coffee machine. The other small
detail that they could attend to is the doors are very heavy -
which makes for a quiet sleep however they slam with great force
that is audible in other rooms.
But overall great experience.

I flew in and out within 24 hours and when I arrived to the
hotel, my room was not ready but then again I was early. The
receptionists were wonderful and told me my room would be ready
in an hour. I had been traveling for 7 hours and I was hungry,
so they gave me a few suggestions. The location of this the
Loden is perfect!! I went and ate and found some great shopping
nearby then came back to the hotel to check in. I was surprised
at the size of my room. The bed was so comfortable and I
absolutely had to take a bath in the huge bath tub! I will be
returning to Vancouver at the end of May to go on a cruise and I
am already booked at another hotel (recommended from the cruise
line) however I have not booked the last night of my stay from
our cruise and I believe I will stay here! My stay here was a
delight and I will defiantly stay again upon my return.

Great boutique hotel - fab service, great location, super sheik,
modern but warm rooms, awesome deep bathtubs. I loved the Loden
and will stay there the next time I'm in Vancouver! Wish there
was one in every city I visit! |
