Guest Review of the Ramada Inn and Suites Vancouver

This hotel is quite frankly one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at
due in part to the staff. I've stayed here before and they were very
courteous, caring, and made sure we were comfortable when we visited.
They even remembered me from my past visit. I've recommended them to my
friends in the past and they all say the same thing about the staff. My
friends and myself will continue to do business with them, thanks
Ramada.

(the good) We arrived at the hotel checking in was easy and fast, and it
is in a very good location but not the chic end of town. Very handy to
the Metro, shopping, night life, Stanley island, the harbour and a good
selection of pubs, clubs and cafes. The room was clean and spacious. We
found the reception staff and cleaning staff extremely helpful, very
pleasant and very accommodating with just one exception.
(the bad) It is definitely a 3 star max. lifts are slow and small,
hallways are dark and lack fresh air. The rooms can be noisy but were
very clean and the cleaning staff were great.
(the Ugly) There is a nightclub attached to the Hotel so make sure you
are on the 4th floor or above. When we arrived we were on the 2nd floor
the noise was simply horrendous and it goes on until 3:00am. When I
spoke to reception about it they kindly offered me a free set of
earplugs which they keep readily on hand. The second week we were given
the option to move to the 5th floor and the problem was solved. We
really did enjoy our stay and the only issue came when I was checking
out. Having thanked everyone for an enjoyable stay I asked for my bill.
As I had prepaid the first week I was required to settle for the second
week and had been informed at the time of booking the room the rate
would be the same. When I received my bill it was different and had a
series of charges and taxes which I did not understand. I asked the girl
on reception could she explain these for me. She said she could not and
went and got a manageress who suddenly appeared beside me screaming at
the top of her voice how dare I question the bill, claiming she had
explained it previously (which was untrue) when I stated I had no
previous conversation with her and her statement was untrue, she stated
she would amend the bill by $100, but still shouting at the top of her
voice claimed it would come out of her wages and that of other staff
members and how would I feel about that?. Given I was being charged an
additional $300 more than the previous week I was entitled to ask why. I
was totally shocked very embarrassed at her outburst as there were other
staff and customers standing beside me. I have since written to the
hotel about the incident and am waiting on their response. This was a
very strange occurrence at the end of an otherwise pleasant stay.

My girlfriend and I recently spent 2 nights at the Ramada Inn and suites
on Granville Street and both found no faults what-so-ever. Our room was
very quiet at night, rare for downtown Vancouver, and comfortable. The
staff was fantastic. Very courteous and extremely helpful. The location
was un-beatable. Minutes walk from all the excitement and shopping
Granville Street, and the whole downtown core for that matter, has to
offer. If you love to visit Vancouver as much as I do, you can't go
wrong with a stay at The Ramada Inn and Suites, Granville.

Recently stayed at this Ramada to catch some of the Stanley Cup hype. We
had some trouble at check in but the management was extremely
accommodating and even bought us breakfast! This hotel is in a great
location. Definitely worth a stay if you want to be in a safe area right
downtown. They were so accommodating. I would definitely stay here
again.

There are a large number of restaurants and bars within walking
distance. The staff is friendly and efficient. Amenities are standard.
You do have to walk outside and around the block to access the gym.
Internet is good. There is a club near the hotel, so there is a constant
bass booming until about 2am. Some rooms are more susceptible than
others, so it would pay to request a room facing the alley. I thought it
was a bit overpriced for its class, but we were there on a peak night
and the hotel was booked full, so maybe that's just my perception. I'm
not against staying there again, but I will likely explore other options
on my next visit to Vancouver.
Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the night club music. |
