A very nice location, a spacious room, a comfortable bed. That's
expected, especially when you get an upgrade. What goes beyond
expectation is the friendly attitude of the staff. They make you feel
like an old regular patron and it was the very first time we walked thru
that door. Thanks. Two remarks: First: time to get flat screen TVs in
the rooms. The old ones are becoming a curiosity. Second: bartenders in
the lounge should relax with portion control. At these prices for a
Martini, a generous pour of vodka is norm.

This was our second trip back to Sutton Place and again were not
disappointed. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The suite was
clean and comfortable. The pool was enjoyed by all. Restaurant
excellent. Downtown on your doorstep. Car parking although a bit pricy
very convenient. Looking forward to our next visit.

Stayed here on business in June, 2011 and am very glad I did. The hotel
as a very good location in downtown Vancouver, close to practically
everything in the downtown core. Only a few blocks away from the nearest
SkyTrain (Canada Place) station. Check in was very smooth - just a
slight wait. The hotel is very busy with cruise passengers and groups,
although you still feel like you are treated individually. My room (on
the 14th floor) was very nice. Conservatively decorated, but not staid
or tired. The bathroom was relatively spacious with good amenities.
Shower was nice as well. Had a floor to ceiling window with a very nice
view of the downtown area facing out towards the Waterfront. The
catering staff for our meetings were superb - so friendly and so
helpful. They were great. The food here is probably the best hotel food
I have seen catered for business functions ever. Wonderful. Highly
recommended hotel.

My husband & I spent five days in Vancouver at the end of last August.
We have a lot of family there and visit frequently. We have stayed at
lots of nice hotels there; our favorite is Opus.
It was a last minute trip and we needed to book the hotel quite last
minute. We ended up going through Hotwire, having just had great Hotwire
experiences in San Francisco & Boston. What a mistake.
When we arrived we were absolutely shocked to see our room. It must have
been an old converted closet- no exaggeration. You entered through the
door, made a sharp left -hand turn (there was a desk pushed against one
side of what seemed like a narrow hallway) and then a tiny little room
with two twin beds crammed in. It was smaller than most walk in closets
I have seen.
We went back downstairs where we were treated extremely rudely. I asked
if there was any way that we could at least get a queen bed, as this was
meant to be a romantic escape with my husband. They refused to move us.
Not only was the room tiny but I don't think it has been redecorated
since the 80's. The bathroom was also extremely outdated.
I would never stay at this hotel again and I was sure to tell all of our
family and friends about what an awful experience it was.

My wife and daughter were very pleased we chose the La Grande Residence
for our week long stay in Vancouver. Choosing a suite upper level with
balcony proved to be well worth the excitement as the city was buzzing
after the Canucks win. The service was excellent and I was pleased with
the cleaning of our room it was spotless each day when we returned. The
oversized flatscreen and quality 6 speaker surround sound was nice for
movie night as well. The location we thought was perfect as just steps
away was a IGA grocery store with the freshest fruits and products in
which we made several meals in the well furnished kitchen in our suite.
Across the street is a movie theatre wich we enjoyed. Robson street was
on the corner and we enjoyed all the many shops there. The easy walk to
the mall and skytrain allowed us to hit all the places we planned to
visit with a good central location of the city. This was the first time
I did not become homesick of living out of a suitcase for 2 weeks. We
felt more than at home with every comfort we imagined and more and will
be more than happy to stay at the Sutton place again and again.
Room Tip: Highly recommend suite with kitchen and balcony |
