The Stanley Cup playoffs were in town and all the hotels were booked, so
after shopping around for a place to stay for just one night, the
reservations clerk recognized our difficulty finding an appropriate
room. Without a big story of circumstances: the desk clerk went way
beyond the standard effort to get us the sleeping arrangements we
needed. Furthermore, being late, she stayed late at her post until we
arrived, when she personally saw that the arrangements were complete,
beds turned down, car parked and luggage in the room, before she left
for the night. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The
breakfast came with the room, and its essentially made to order in a
large, white tablecloth dining room, and best of all, Breakfast was
served until 10AM!
The parking garage is very, very secure, well lit, clean and safe. With
its downtown location with other 4 and 5 star hotels, we could not have
found a better situation. I assure you'll like this quaint, uptown
hotel.

Quietness :
We never heard anything from the elevator despite being right next to
it.
Noise from the street was a different story: although quiet enough
Mon-Thu, on Friday and Saturday night it got louder. If you are a light
sleeper, and will be there on a weekend, I would recommend using
earplugs in addition to a white-noise machine
For $250 a night, I would have liked a little better experience. But, it
was fine.

we had booked a 2 room suite on the 5th floor. room quite clean and
obviously recently updated. nice linens and good TV. Bathroom a bit
small but more than adequate.
check in was very courteous and quick, help locating missing luggage
from our cruise and the staff went the extra yard.
nice included breakfast though, a bit slow due to understaffing. nice
bar next door for a drink before going out to dinner.
what was a bit strange, is standing outside the hotel around 11 p.m.,
having a smoke, I was hit up by no fewer than 20 panhandlers in the
shortest time. no reflection on the hotel, just at night, there are a
lot of you transient types coming into central Vancouver.

I have just returned from a week long stay at the St Regis Hotel in
Vancouver. I chose this hotel entirely on the favourable trip advisor
reviews. I was disappointed that the street noise could be heard from
our room on the third floor, we did not sleep well and were woken up
around 6am most mornings by the traffic. We did ask to be moved to a
quiter room at the back of the hotel, but had to wait a couple of days
until one was free. However, the room we were shown was no where near as
nice as the first one and there was a lot of noise from the air
conditioning, so we decided to stay in the original room. Having said
this, there are many , many positives about this hotel. Complimentary
bottle of water each every day, ipod docking station, very helpful staff
- especially if you want to ask about tourist attractions - plus free
internet access and a printer in the lobby which meant that I could
check us in for our return flight home on line and print out the
boarding cards. The breakfast is not a hlep yourself buffet, but waiter
service instead and you choose combinations from 3 different menus -
either traditional, classic or continental. The portions are enormous and
will set you up for a full day of sight seeing. The location of the
hotel is very central so everything is very walk able which we liked.
This hotel is very suitable for an overnight or weekend stop, but due to
the noise levels from the street perhaps not so good for a week long
stay.

A wonderful hotel in an excellent location. Top marks for free American
cooked breakfast, free internet, free long distance phone calls,
friendly and efficient staff, 2 minutes walk to Granville train station,
and 10 minutes walk from downtown Vancouver. Located in a heritage
listed building with lots of artwork and wood paneling. Rooms and
single lift a bit on the small side but otherwise a brilliant choice for
anyone visiting Vancouver. We will highly recommend it to our friends. |
