This was our first stay at this hotel. We have stayed at numerous other hotels
in the vicinity and would rate this one close to the top of the ones we know. We
got a very good room rate--much below that of the other hotels we know--which
made for very good value. Our typical choice in the area is the Cascadia, but we
were wary of the renovation work happening there, so decided to try somewhere
different this time out.
Pros/notables: -the location is convenient, and there is good public transit
nearby
-staff were exuberantly friendly on check-in, and only slightly less so on
check-out (great staff elevate this place, in my view). While we were checking,
one guest seemed to have lost her car in the parkade: one of the desk clerks
offered to walk the parkade with the guest until the vehicle was found. I
presume it was as we saw the clerk again a few minutes later--this is going
above and beyond as far as I am concerned. Well done.
-the room was decent and clean, and the kitchenette was welcome; overall, the
room was what we expect from Best Western: serviceable but not luxurious
-the wireless internet worked great for us
Cons: -the location is not the most scenic that one can find in the area--it is
at the foot of the Granville Street Bridge, and the corner it is on is a little
tawdry. However, there isn't much to differentiate the location from that of
other nearby hotels, and it certainly was much quieter than Hornby Street
(around the corner) where we usually stay
-no windows opened in our room: I like to be able to open at least one window,
even if only a crack, to get some fresh air circulating in the room

I had booked this hotel way in advance for a girl's get away to see Bon Jovi as
they weren't playing in Seattle this tour. I have stayed at alot of Best
Western's and this place only disappointed me on two minor things. One being the
restaurant, very slow (40min wait to be seated) and the breakfast (over 40 mins
to be served) and the food wasn't that great. There is a place over the Cambie
Bridge called Biercraft and it was AWESOME for breakfast, be sure to check it
out. The other thing was the room was very stuffy at night and made for
uncomfortable night of sleeping. We found out when we checked out that the
thermostats were still set to winter mode so that is why the room never got
below 65 degrees....ugh!! Won't forget to ask that next time so they can adjust
it accordingly.
We were able to check in early, which is nice. The rooms were nicely set up, had
a small kitchenette and the bathroom was roomy with great towels. Beds were very
comfortable and the front desk help were very nice and helpful. I had no
problems with the internet as other have mentioned/experienced. Parking is
somewhat tight and if they are booked full, good luck finding a space...could be
a problem but wasn't for us. Be sure the go to the penthouse level and check out
the great view from up there and the hot tub....nice!!
One place to be sure to eat dinner is the Yaletown Brewery, great beers and
drinks, awesome food and nice people!! Try the Red Dragon, dangerous! LOL
Can't wait to make another trip up to Vancouver, maybe next month!

this hotel has such nice features it seems such a shame to have extremely poor
internet signal! I have stayed here many times and every time I am reminded how
bad internet service is.

After a most difficult journey from Australia with my 80 year old mother , we
arrived here totally exhausted. This was just the beginning of our problems.
Somehow our reservations had been cancelled (we still don't know by whom) and we
were really distraught. Seeing our distress the manager told us that although
all the rooms were all booked for the night we could have the penthouse suite
and sort everything out in the morning. After finally contacting our travel
agent in oz, all was ok. I will never forget his kindness and have recommended
this hotel to everyone I know who is travelling to Vancouver as well as the
travel agency. thanks again!

I stayed five nights at this hotel in a double ensuite room on the ninth floor.
As i ordered in advance the room was about £50/night. If you compare this place
to £50 British hotel they are like chalk and cheese.
The room although not huge was beautifully furnished and spotless. Lovely
bathroom with loads of fluffy towels and nice toiletries. The bed was extremely
comfy and there was plenty of bedding etc. There was a coffee maker, coffee and
tea in the room; a hairdryer; iron and board; even an umbrella! I was on the
ninth floor overlooking Granville bridge - there was a little bit of traffic
noise in the early evening but nothing to disturb sleep.
The location is excellent. Yaletown is right on the doorstep with great
restaurants, almost the whole of downtown is easily walk able, and if you want to
hop on a bus to Granville/Kits/Stanley Park it couldn't be easier. I'm a girl
travelling alone and thought the neighborhood felt very safe, with lots of
people about, and very close to up market shopping areas and friendly nightlife.
The attached White Spot restaurant was good but there isnt much choice for
breakfast. You only have to walk a couple of blocks to find better alternatives.
Also wroth noting that the free shuttle will only take you from the hotel to
downtown locations, not back. The little gym, Jacuzzi and saunas were a nice
extra. I would definitely stay again

We stayed here not so long ago and it was still as good as the last stay. The
staff bend over backwards for you they are so helpful, the rooms are clean cozy
and comfortable, all at a more affordable price. Excellent location as it is so
close to Yaletown!
