Hotel Review of the Cascadia Hotel And Suites
Vancouver
Jan 17, 2011
I stayed at the Cascadia hotel from the 14th Dec 2010 to 21st Dec
2010....
Before I booked the Cascadia I spent about 4 hours reading hotel reviews
for many different hotels in Vancouver and I just couldn't justify in
spending another £500 for a 4 star or 5 star hotel...
The Cascadia is a 3 star hotel so people shouldn't really moan about the
decor being dated, to me it just looked like any normal hotel decor. My
room was clean, nice size and everything worked and I had a great view
from the 18th floor looking of the mountains.
The breakfast was nice and I thought there was plenty of choice, toast,
french toast, pancakes, yoghurts, cereals, etc everything was fresh and
as usual staff very friendly... Talking of staff, I went to the front
desk on the 15th Dec to get a safety deposit box and before I finished
my room number , I think it was John-Paul Yu , already knew my name, my
room number and also knew it was my birthday and wished me a Happy
Birthday and I had a room upgrade :-) when I got back to my room in the
evening, I had a birthday card and chocolates from the staff. Now,
that's what I call service and it just made me feel that I was a valued
guest!
On leaving the hotel 21st December I had the option to check out a bit
later due to the travel chaos back in the UK... I explained that I might
need a room for a few more days if my flight get cancelled.. I was told
that's not a problem and the staff have already been informed that I
might need to stay for a extra few days and a special price would be
sorted for me.
I'm glad I didn't stay in another hotel and spend an additional £500 as
I don't think I would have got this type of service... End of the day
most people on sleep at a hotel and not spend all day in their rooms!
I had no complaints or issues and would recommend the hotel to anyone..

My wife and I made the Cascadia our base for a few days at the end of
October on our honeymoon. The hotel was recommended to me by a work mate
who had stayed here the year before. The overall look of the hotel is
quite nice with a decent sized foyer. The room we had was a little small
for my liking and a little dated as well, but it was still a very nice
room. The room backed onto the elevator shafts so we did hear the ping
of the elevator as it stopped on our floor. The location wasn’t too bad.
We caught taxis to the more distant places and walked the rest.
The bed was very comfortable and the internet was good, but it did slow
dramatically when a lot of people were using it. It was WiFi which was
handy for us as we were using our Ipod Touch’s for skyping back home.
The full kitchen was well equipped but we didn’t use it. The buffet
breakfast was pretty good and the dining room was a fair size.
Unfortunately the pool was closed for maintenance during our stay but,
the laundry was open and we put that to good use.
We had room service the first night in the hotel (steak), it was very
nice. We had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant downstairs on our last
night in Vancouver. We were served by a lovely hostess, Alexi. The food
was wonderful and later that same night we went back to the restaurant
for hot chocolate and dessert which was equally lovely.
Overall it is a very nice hotel with good staff. The room was a little
small but the good restaurant and laundry room more than made up for
that. I would recommend to others.

The hotel was an excellent choice, we were very pleased with our room,
the kitchen was adequate, although we had meals in the restaurant we
also cooked a couple of meals, .
Hotel is close to shops, restaurants & Post Office, 6 blocks from
closest train station (Roundhouse)
Short walk to the aqua bus for the ride to Granville Island, hop on/off
bus stops right outside.
Front desk staff very obliging and helpful with information & booking
tours, and all staff very friendly & happy in their work.
We really liked the idea that the Hotel has a Zero Waste Program.
We are older travellers 70 & 74 and the Cascadia Hotel suited us
perfectly

Every single interaction we had with the Cascadia hotel was positive.
Due to remodeling, our room was a bit noisy. We were not only provided a
room farther away from the noise, but the guest services supervisor
(John-Paul Yu) left a large fruit/cheese tray in the room with a
personal note apologizing for any inconvenience. We also left a jacket
in our room, and staff again promptly and efficiently facilitated return
of the item from Canada to the U.S. We had pleasant conversations with
staff attending the buffet (which was varied and tasty). The hotel is
centrally located for walking. We were more than satisfied with our
stay.
