Excellent hotel, great location near rail service and restaurants
Excellent hotel in a great location and convenient to rail service. The staff were attentive and the room was very nice and quiet. Many dining choices close to the hotel. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Not downtown but maybe better, close enough.
Good value, good location in terms of proximity to things in general and the new train line. Parking a bit expensive but that is true of the whole city. Sadly the bar and restaurant ’Fig" has shuttered but Cambie street has come alive now that the train construction has been finished.

will try it again
We travelled by train and arrived in Vancouver around 10 am. We were accommodated to check in even before lunch with no extra cost. The hotel is located in downtown and many of the attractions were easily accessible. When I was ranking this place, I had the cost per night in my mind.

Stay was good for an overnight before flying out the next morning. Easy directions to the airport. Room was clean and had balcony for photos of sunset. Grocery store with pharmacy across the street. Only problem during our stay was that they were having major problems with the elevators and had to shut one of the two down for the night.

The only thing going for this hotel is the location. The staff seem friendly however here are the issues: ice has to be hand delivered to your room, there are two very slow elevators with housekeeping employees using with guests. The rooms need makeover- carpet, paint, etc and bathrooms are tiny. I am sure at one time this was a great hotel but has outlived itself. Also our tour group had breakfast three mornings in the hotel in a conference room and the food was awful. Worst of our trip. Went across the street to the White Spot for breakfast.

I found the hotel to be clean, but in need of updating.
Rooms could use a little sound proofing if possible. I stayed for 2 nights - The first night the couple in the room right next to me (there was only one room next to mine) argued loudly until about 1:30 a.m. SO my sleep was not great, and every time someone closed their door it woke me up. The second night the night staff delivered by bill around 3:30 am - when they struggled to get the bill through the crack in the door it made a lot of noise and woke me up, a suggestion would be to either slip it under the door or find some other more quiet method of delivering the bill. Televisions were small and had some static.
Otherwise the beds were comfy, the staff were friendly, and the rates reasonable. Including a continental breakfast in the cost of the stay would be nice.

A stressful trip made easy by such friendly and accommodating staff. A very pleasant room.

We selected this hotel because it is quite central but reasonably priced. We paid a bit extra for an upper floor with a city and mountain view and it was well worth it with beautiful different views every day due to the changing weather. It is right on the subway line with easy access to the airport and downtown, but also with lots of cafes and shops in the vicinity. It is not fancy but very good quality. Great value or money.

We had the opportunity to stay at this hotel for a one night stay in Vancouver. It is centrally located (near the Vancouver General Hospital, City Hall, and three blocks from the Canada Line train station to downtown. There aren't alot of other accommodation options in this area and this was definitely the most reasonable value.

I wasn't overly impressed by the way the check-in was handled but I wasn't dissatisfied either. That sort of encapsulates our entire experience at this hotel. The room was quite spacious with two queen beds, a sitting area with two chairs, large balcony and big windows. It was a bit hot in the room when we checked in since it was west facing but the room cooled down by late evening and was quite comfortable for sleeping. The room did come equipped with an air condition as well. There was some traffic noise from the busy intersection on which this hotel is located but it wasn't disruptive. I imagine the East and North facing rooms are much louder. The beds were nice and firm (I often find hotel beds too soft) and clean. The room has definately seen some traffic and could do with an update but it was clean. All in all, I wouldn't rush to come back or recommend this hotel, but it is reasonably priced and did the job for us.

Overall I liked the property. It wasn't too expensive, it was located in a decent area, and the room was huge with a little balcony. Yes, the property is a bit older, but the linens were nice and the bed comfy! Don't worry about the details. For example, I could see some water damage in some wall soffit. and the tile in the bathroom needed a little attention. But overall, the room was big with a nice desk..

I stayed at the Plaza 500 one night, arriving after 9pm and leaving at 6:30am because I was in Vancouver for a business meeting at the Vancouver General Hospital. It was a perfect location for my needs. The check-in was quick, as was check-out. The room was just right for my needs...nothing to complain about, but not super fancy either. It was just what I expected for the $119/night price. Cost was $24 for a cab from the airport; I was able to catch the public transit train for $3.75 to get all the way back to the airport (quick, and cheap!) just two blocks down Cambria.
