I had a memorable experience with the Holt Renfrew shopping package. A
gift and $100 gift card from HR was waiting in my hotel room - and my
appointments for makeover and personal shopping were ready. The staff at
HR provided excellent service. Champagne during shopping was a nice
touch.
The hotel was impeccably clean and service was friendly and
professional. I also liked the free long distance calling - something
that sets this hotel apart. The complimentary breakfast was a cut above
the usual, with the expertly cooked omelet being a standout.
Be aware that parking is $34 for the night - at Pacific Centre the
overnight fee is $24. However, the hotel garage is secured. In a
previous trip to Vancouver I had my rental car broken into at the
Pacific Centre parking lot. I felt the additional $10 was worth the
peace of mind.

My wife and I we the lucky recipients of a Holt Renfrew ‘Shop and Stay’
package, which including a night’s stay in one of their executive
suites. I’ll let my wife review that ‘shop’ portion of the package and
stick to the ‘stay’ part.
The St. Regis is everything a boutique hotel should be. The hotel is a
perfect mix of a historic building and modern amenities. It has been
beautifully appointed with close attention to nearly every detail. We
loved the comfy king size bed enjoyed the soaker tub. The staff were
friendly and attentive. Located in the heart of downtown, the location
of the hotel is great for tourists and business travelers alike. The
free use of the business center, including printers was a nice addition.
We loved the complimentary long distance calls and were impressed by the
complimentary full breakfast (including table service and omelets!).
The only room for improvement would be to improve the (admittedly free)
wifi quality and perhaps consider a doorman to greet guests and help
unload and direct cars, and/or even a valet parking service.

Free long distances calls with an in room wireless phone, breakfast
included, Sony dream machine alarm, microwave, welcome card signed by
housekeeping, organic coffee in the room, heated bathroom floors and the
stitched leather wallpaper all send the message that this is not your
typical hotel joint.
The amenities at this hotel really go above and beyond what you can find
at hotels that are much priceier in Vancouver.

Enjoyed my stay very much. Service was extraordinary at all levels;
maids, waitresses, front desk. Room was quiet and very comfortable. A
couple of amenities were missing: complimentary mouth wash (with liquid
ban on air travel this would be appreciated); no nightlight because one
switch turns everything off; no face soap, just bath soap. Showers are
very light straight down "rain" type which some of use don't like.
Vending and Ice machines only on floors 2 and 4. Only one small elevator
which seemed to miss stopping on the 3rd flood a lot. Otherwise really
nice.

Stayed three nights during a major convention. Everything about the St.
Regis was beyond my expectations. The room and bathroom furnishings and
fixtures were all high quality, maintained in like-new condition and
spotless. Even the stairwell, bright and containing original art, was
spotless. Full breakfast, included in the rate, was in an attractive
room on a lower level. The breakfast offerings were traditional and
complete (including cooked-to-order omelets), the food prepared and
presented well, and the service very prompt and very friendly. Friendly,
in fact, describes all of their very efficient staff. And an unusual
feature -- free worldwide telephone calls -- was of significant value to
a colleague that was traveling from Bermuda. Location was good: in the
center of the downtown area and one block up, one block over from the
City Center Skytrain station that provides quick, comfortable and
inexpensive transit from and to the airport. The lobby is small but
there is a small seating area in a room adjacent to the lobby that was
good for quiet conversation with up to four people. They also have a
pub-type bar and restaurant attached to the hotel (very popular on the
night of a hockey playoff game), while two high quality restaurants --
Gotham Steakhouse and The Shore Club -- are on the same block. An
appreciated detail: my room had an open able window that allowed
enjoyment of the fresh Vancouver air. Overall, a great hotel experience
in a great city. |
