I stayed for 4 nights in a King room. The room was great very comfortable and
nicely furnished .The room was always spotless and the staff at the front desk
and Checkers Bar and Grill
were brilliant nothing a problem and willing to give any
tourist advice needed.
Checkers restaurant food was great and a good breakfast deal in the morning.
The location is excellent within walking distance of almost anywhere and its
Fantastic value for your buck.
My only problem was that the walls can be a little thin .I had a couple next
door one night and could hear them however all other nights rooms next to me
were free i think as I did not hear anything else.
There's free high speed wireless in the rooms and hotel too that worked very
well

The rooms are spotlessly clean and recently redecorated, if a little small. High
end tv's and linens make your stay comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Newspapers are provided every day. Parking is safe and well patrolled. The hotel
is located close to the centre of the city, yet just half a block from the
beach. Pets are welcome. Smoking is not. The hotel is excellent value.

We have been staying at this hotel for a few days per month for the past 5
months and now feel like this is our second home.
The location is great - walk out the front door to catch a bus downtown,
Seawall Walk around
Stanley Park along the seashore, check out the little restaurants and shops on Denman St.
Walking into the hotel lobby is like stepping back in time, to the late 60's I'd
guess. It's not fancy but it's functional. And the 6 ft teddy bear in the RCMP
uniform adds to the decor!
As long as you don't get noisy neighbors, it's usually quiet. There's street
noise on one side, the other side is quieter except for those garbage trucks!!
The heating and air conditioning are also from the 60's, I think, so it takes a
bit getting used to, in order to get the right temperature. It would have been
helpful for me to know that the heat comes ON during the night so I could have
turned the thermostat off.
The restaurant and bar are cozy, down home style and it has the most amazing
smoked salmon appetizer (actually is almost meal size!).
Make sure to go to the Bayshore Lounge, upstairs in the next building and sit in
the round navy vinyl booths - you could imaging Dean Martin singing there!!
It's reasonably priced so don't expect 5 star furnishings. What they do have is
comfortable and clean.
We love it!!

Good value with this hotel. We liked the location and overall vibe was good as
the front desk was very friendly. Close to everything in the city, a short
stroll to restaurants,
English Bay, Stanley Park etc. It was however on a busy
street if you get a bay view room and the bus stops are right outside so if you
are a light sleeper this could be problematic. The room was clean but could have
been at another level of cleanliness. I would stay again however for location
and value. Restaurant on site served a good breakfast

Karen I would give this hotel about 2 1/2 stars. The front desk staff were
excellent but the bathroom was tiny and the room was only adequate. I did not
like hearing busses and people going by all night and early morning. I probably
would not stay at this hotel again.
The front desk staff were extremely helpful giving driving directions to the
hotel.
Too close to the street. Busses and people were going by our window all night
and early in the a.m.
