My family traveled up from Washington State for the Cheer Competition at
the Convention Center. We received a block rate from the hotel from
April 1st- 3rd. t $109 we thought we were getting a great rate, but
after checking in (and many families only found out upon checking out)
this did not include the $17 a day parking OR the tax on either of these
items. What I thought was going to be a $250 bill for the room in fact
cost almost $300. Other people who called ahead of time to be sure they
had enough money for everything were never informed of the need for
paying for parking or how much the tax is and quite a few were scraping
by at the end of the trip. Keep in mind this is a group of at least
40-50 families that are booked here.
The rooms are big, I had double beds and a full kitchenette. The room
was sweltering when we arrived, and we had to turn on the air
conditioning.
My real positive experience was the ONE greeter when you came in the
hotel. I saw him a few times through my stay and he was always polite
and tried to help me out with anything I asked. The only maps to be
found in the hotel to where anything is, is on every floor there is a
fire escape route.
Overall, I would stay here again. I did not try out the spa (I did not
like that the one time I saw someone in there you can see them walking
around in the bathrobe and slippers from outside the hotel) or did I
venture to the steam room (I never found it). With our Cheer Team
travelling much of the season, we have stayed in a few hotels and this
being the first one out of the country for me, I was fairly happy

I will say, over all, my experience here was slightly disappointing.
The Hotel is close to down town, and so location is fabulous.
There was parking, and internet.
Staff was friendly.
We were able to check in early, having arrived an hour and a half before
the normal check-in time of 3pm. That was wonderful!
The room was clean, and large and the beds were comfortable.
For the four of us, booking through
www.allure-hotels.com , got
the room for a fairly decent price.
Though we were able to GET internet in our room, I was disappointed to
find a charge for it. I have stayed at many hotels, of higher and lower
quality than this one, and have never had to pay for internet before if
it was available, in-room. If this is normal procedure, I am not aware
of it.
We were quite excited to find a pool and sauna were at the Hotel, but it
was in the basement. Also, seeing a room key is needed for access to the
pool, I was disappointed to find the pool closed after 10pm. I would
have enjoyed swimming after coming back in, but not being so limited on
time.
Over all, though slightly disappointed, I would consider staying there
again, mostly due to location and cost. If I was able to shop around on
price, I would do so before my next stay.
Thank you

Stayed 7 nights here from Sunday 13 March 2011 - room was huge, with
good seating area, dining table, kitchen area and massive bed!! We were
on 20th floor - lifts a bit slow, but not too bad. Went swimming in pool
a lot - yes, this is in the basement and it's a bit gloomy, but I had
whole thing to myself most of the time, so am not complaining! Our room
overlooked the hospital, but I only heard sirens a couple of times, it
certainly didn't disturb me - the only disturbance came in the form of
some jock-type hockey players bellowing outside our room one night, but
it was only one night and they shut up when I opened the door and
bellowed back! Didn't eat in the restaurant as there were so many good
places to eat near here, but I did have room service a couple of nights
and the food was great! The location is brilliant, so near all the shops
and the train station, and there was always a cab outside if you wanted
to go further afield. Vancouver is a truly beautiful city, and is best
explored on foot anyway.
Overall, very enjoyable!

Would go back
Good price for the quality of the hotel and room received. The lobby was
very spacious, well-lit, and modern. However, the entrance should be
grander and more obvious. Room was clean and spacious. Appreciated the
couch and the complimentary tea. However, it did have a hint of
musty/old smell but it didn’t affect the great stay I had.

A Lovely Place to Stay
My husband and I had a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and
helpful. The suite was very nice, clean, and spacious. What a treat to
have room to move about and to be comfortable in. Having the bedroom
separate from the rest of the areas made the stay extra comfortable. I
wish we could have stayed longer, we would definitely stay again. We
only had time to visit the coffee shop before we had to leave, staff
provided excellent service with very good food. Thank you for training
your staff to be "of service" to those who come to your hotel.

The room looked terrific at checkin. Easy walking distance to most
attractions, but then we like to walk. After an evening out, we came
back to cold room. The thermostat was not working and the baseboard
heater had not been turned on - apparently it needs someone to come in
and turn a key. We found this out in the morning. After my very cold
morning shower, I went down to the lobby to complain about the heat and
the cold. That is when I found out about the heater needed to be
"turned" on.....which they never did, even for the second night. The
explanation for the cold shower was that the water heater was in
repair......well thanks for telling me! They did compensate with a free
meal at their restaurant for 2. We chose breakfast the next morning and
the food was very good. I think they could have tried a little better in
keeping me as a guest happy, but did well to make up for it. The second
morning did include a hot shower. The location was good - being central
to many sites of the city, but being next to a hospital can be a little
loud. We got a great price through Expedia, so I would say it was worth
the price.

Nicest Staff in the Hotel Business
Truly the nicest, friendliest and most helpful hotel employees that we
have ever experienced! Public areas of the hotel were updated and classy
with high-end finishes. Our room was a bit old and outdated but clean
and comfortable. Again, the staff was incredible and made our stay so
enjoyable.
