Guest Review of the Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel

I booked a suite at this hotel for two night business travel for
$99/night...total $240 after taxes.
The room was nice, and service very friendly. My one bedroom, two double
bed suite sufficed for my needs, but the layout was very odd. The living
room portion of the suite was tiny and only had two chairs and a desk,
plus a TV. Felt more like a weird tiny apartment than a hotel suite.
The major disappointment was not having wireless internet. For many, I'm
sure this is no big deal, but for travelling on business, I don't want
to sit at the desk, plugged into an Ethernet cable to do my work. I want
to sit in the hotel bed, watching TV and doing work.
The location is great, walking distance to all the nice stuff
Downtown Vancouver,
and across the street from a great waterfront walk along the harbor.
I would recommend instead, though, the Sutton Place Hotel. True 5-star
accommodations...even closer to
Robson Street , etc., and for only slightly
more.

Very disappointing stay -- the room had no hot water and the carpet
looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned for years. Dust levels well
beyond acceptable for anyone with allergies. Food best described as
mediocre. Breakfast service very good. Bar service very poor. Wouldn't
recommend this property to anyone.

My parents stayed at this hotel Nov17-19, 2010 as part of their via rail
10 day trip from Ottawa-Vancouver & back. I booked them through the
internet and they were extremely pleased upon arrival and throughout
their duration of stay with the service, amenities, food &
accommodations. I had phoned (from Ottawa) prior to their arrival to
arrange a welcome wine & cheese platter be delivered to their room and
to their delightful surprise it arrived minutes after they settled into
their room. I want to thank Ben with "In Room Dining" for the wonderful
imported cheeses & fruit platter for your fantastic, friendly & prompt
service.
I recommend this hotel as a definite downtown Vancouver stay as part of
anyone's travel plans.

By the time we pitched up at the
Delta Vancouver Suites, we were
well and truly exhausted. We had been in transit for more than 40 hours
and were beyond good manners and friendliness. We wanted sleep, shower
and silence. The receptionist took one look at us and changed our
booking to accommodate our frazzled state.
From the first moment we staggered up to the reception desk, to our last
minute there, the staff at the hotel were fantastic. Not in a fawning,
irritating way, but in an intelligent way which showed that, no matter
what they did, they did it with care and pride and were really
interested in the guests. The suite was pristine and stayed so every
day. When we took the tissue box out of the bathroom because we had the
sniffles, the next morning we found there was an additional box on our
bedside. When we asked the concierge for directions to a restaurant, he
advised us and pointed us in the right direction. A few blocks later, he
came running up behind us, just to make sure we were not lost! When we
ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant
Manhattan (where the food, newspapers and
magazines were excellent) we listened to the relaxed, cheerful chat of
the staff amongst themselves. Sometimes they would come over and
introduce themselves, ask how we are doing, and recommend a restaurant,
happening or transit route. The night concierge even got on a ladder to
help me photograph the impressive paintings in the hotel foyer.
Wherever we went, there was always someone giving us a smile and a
greeting. I don't know if that is the norm in Vancouver, or whether it
is typical of Canadians, but the staff were definitely outgoing and
empathetic. After the aggression and tension of Johannesburg, this was
amazingly refreshing.
The hotel has great free wi-fi and is situated in the centre of the
Vancouver business district. You can quickly walk to many of the sights,
beaches and hot spots. Just outside the entrance is a handy little shop
that stocks most of the things you usually forget to pack. The view from
our room was great and we spent some time just looking at the sunsets
over the harbour. We slept like logs because the room seemed
sound-proof. The Delta Vancouver Suites fits perfectly into elegant,
efficient, modern Vancouver. We'll definitely stay there again.

The hotel room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The staff were
very helpful and gave us some good tips on local restaurants. It's
expensive, but it was an above-average experience.
