We stayed at the Pan Pacific the night before our Alaskan Cruise. Overall its a nice hotel with beautiful views but it was not family friendly (more below). We booked this hotel in July 2010 for our May 2011 stay. We booked the Family Getaway Package (which included 2 rooms and a few amenities).

Good:
- Even though we were not in a suite we had a view of both the city and the waterfront. It was a very nice view.
- Breakfast Buffet at Cafe Pacifica was very good
- Hotel is in a great location and within walking distance of many restaurants and stores

Not so Good:
- Upon check-in worker behind desk felt it was their duty to come around the counter and scold my children by telling them to "To Be Quiet". Let me state I am a big believer in child discipline and sometimes I am hard on my children to a fault (they are currently 8 and 4) but they were not demonstrating any obnoxious behavior that would warrant an employee to come around the corner and scold them. This really left a bad taste in my mouth.
- Bell services decided to use my camera bag as a door stopper when delivering our luggage to our room. Seriously, of all the things to use a door stopper you use the bag with some of the most expensive equipment.
- Our package included breakfast in the cost of the rooms. Upon returning home I found they charged us $107.xx for breakfast. After a call to the hotel they resolved the issue within an hour (still waiting on the refund to post to the CC).

Not a service issue but would have been nice category:
- No Internet without pay - I'm not stating this is the hotels fault but it seems that in this day and age to pay for internet at most high end hotels seems a bit much.
- The rooms seemed a little dated with the furniture - I expected rich coloring furniture - instead it looked more (in my opinion) like furniture I would find in most Florida rooms. Again not an issue with the hotel per se.....
- The package we booked included a free movie, cookies and milk for the children, juice/soda and popcorn for the adults. You had to call down to order the food items - While it was nice I thought the cookies would have been "homemade" instead they were packaged "semi-cheap" type cookies. The feeling I got from the whole tray they brought up was "nice thought, not that great implementation".

The hotel does seem "stiff" even for a 4-5 star hotel. I did not feel it was overtly family friendly. I won't stay there again with at least the children. The next time I am in Vancouver I may try the Fairmont across the street.

We spent three nights at this wonderful waterfront hotel before departing for an Alaskan cruise. Our party of ten, including several seniors and two small children arrived around 1:00 p.m. with a stunning volume of baggage. The bell staff patiently assisted us with dividing up the bags into groups for each of our four rooms, which we assumed would not be ready as they had advised us of a 4:00 check-in time. As we entered the lobby I was struck with fear at the piles and piles of baggage there and could only dread what was to come. Fortunately one of our four rooms was ready immediately so that we could drop of our hand baggage and lo and behold when we got to the room the proper baggage WAS ALREADY THERE. As they called us to notify that each room in turn was available (the last at well before 4:00) the baggage was there in every instance, before we arrived! As a family we have stayed at many hotels and resorts from the best in the world to Motel 6 and I have NEVER seen such an efficient baggage operation. There are many major, five star hotels that could send their entire staff to have a lesson from the Bell Staff at the Pan Pacific Vancouver. Three of our four rooms were even adjacent to each other. Add to that the fact that the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, plus the stunning views and convenient location - all in all a wonderful experience.

Spent the night here a couple of years ago for a festival that was being held in the convention centre downstairs. The room was very elegant and had some great sheets/view of the harbor looking towards North Vancouver, and the spa (Spa Utopia) is one of the best downtown.

This hotel is beautiful! Spacious room with large separate living room/dining room area. HUGE bathroom with separate 1/2 bath. Ordered room service which was delicious, hot, quick and they set the table for you, tablecloth and all. The view of the harbor was perfect! Watched the sea planes land and take off and the cruise ships come and go. Very interesting to watch!

Room Tip: The Harbor is a beautiful view

I don't normally get to stay in a hotel like this while on business, and I wouldn't do so on my personal expenses, but a friend got me a deal. Wow, what a lovely hotel! In addition, I had a "harbor view" room which meant that I could see the mountains on two of the three days I was there. Fabulous!
