At the arrival our room (2 beds) was not available, so they gave us a
king bed room.
We were travelling with our 2 years old child and sleep all together was
not our dream holiday.
They have only one restaurant, Seawall. It is not bad, but the service
could improve. Once the waiters were not nice and not attentive for our
child and gave us a mini table for 3: we didn't know where we could put
the plates! They also brought the child food at the same time of our
food. They should know it is normal practice to bring first kids dishes.
The second night the food was good and we loved our waitress.
The room has a tiny bathroom with the cabinet inside of it!! Is it
normal? They had the shower only and it was very complicate for us to
wash our child. They should think about it!
The room itself was big enough, but the furniture was no good.
I do not understand why fridge was empty. I would pay for that...FULL!
Breakfast was very tasteful, but I would have loved an omelette...
VIda spa is great. My therapist was super professional and the body wrap
was just the cherry on the cake.
They should definitely do some renewal in the rooms and in the internal
pool as well (the water was too cold and it looked like a community
swimming pool, not a Westin's).
The view from our room on the tower was really nice. Harbour and Stanley
Park.

As a platinum Starwood member, I have been trying the various Starwood
hotels in Vancouver to find the one I want to stay at regularly. This
one fails. Very nice staff, but poor Platinum benefits. "Upgraded" Room
had no robe, water or turndown (sounds silly, but big benefits for
frequent visits). Fitness center equipment was rusty & very loud. The
equipment did have tv's though. Heard a lot of noise next door & above
my room at 3am (which has NOT been the case in any other Sheraton
property if have stayed in...it was like a holiday in express).
I would love to give this place a great review, but just can't. The
Westin Grand or Sheraton Wall Center (both a few blocks away) are
better. The Sheraton Vancouver Airport (Richmond) offers an excellent
club lounge, with access to downtown Vancouver via the train (15
minutes). If you do stay here, be sure to visit the restaurant next door
"Cardero's" - it is certainly worth a stop!

"Can you adopt me?" asked our Trolley driver when he realized we were
getting off and staying at the Westin Bayshore Hotel; he must have know
Howard Hughes stayed here before, as well as dignitaries from the Winter
Olympics. More than the perfectly appointed hotel was the gracious and
helpful staff, who went out of their way to assist. The Harbor View room
was a delight, watching kayakers, dog walkers, baby buggies and harbor
planes go about their business; great view and great people watching
from that room. Room service and food/alcohol were EXPENSIVE, but hey,
it's the LA of the North. Stay here, jump on the Trolley and check out
the little restaurants around the hotel. Not the cheapest getaway but
one you won't ever forget. And bring your umbrella.

We stayed twice in October, both times it was beautiful weather - always
a treat in Vancouver. The first stay we looked out over the float plane
harbor while we basked in the sun shining into our room and at the
outdoor restaurant watching the flights come and go to Vancouver Island
and up the rugged coast. The second was time was a view over the yacht
harbor (and the wonderful separate restaurant, Lift.) Unfortunately the
full service restaurant iln the hotel has been closed except for
breakfast - not a real problem in Vancouver with so many choices. The
only other complain is that they charge for internet access when so many
hotels now provide it free.

My family got a good deal on a basic room here off the Westin web site.
It was supposed to sleep 4 people, but when we got there we found that
it was a single king bed without any pull out. We had the option of
sleeping in 2 double beds but didn't think that would work well with two
small kids who go to bed very early.
So, we upgraded at a cost of $80 to the next level up, which was a
junior suite with a separate room (king) and a queen size pullout. That
worked perfectly and the room was nice. This was the best part of the
stay.
Pros:
* on the waterfront so you have a nice walking/running area.
* next to Stanley park
* the room was nice--luxurious really--and the beds comfortable.
Cons:
* the biggest issue with us was the parking. We drove up from
Washington, and after reading reviews of Vancouver decided it was safest
to park at their garage. I had read online the cost was about $26.
However, when we got there the cost was $36. What really was upsetting
about this is two things: the parking garage is totally unsecured in a
high-crime area, and it's across the street from the hotel in a public
garage! That's a total rip off. There were signs everywhere saying to
take all valuables out of the car, it was a high crime area, they
weren't responsible for theft, etc. On top of that the Valet was worried
about some stuff we had in the car and advised we haul it all to the
room. Since that wasn't possible he told us to back directly up to a
wall in a corner of the garage so people couldn't break into the back of
the vehicle nor a side window. Seriously?? This is what $36 gets? We had
no other choice but do it, and I made 2 separate trips out over night to
check on the car. I also was lugging bags back and forth to the car. Way
too much anxiety to stay at a place like this.
* The hotel is being remodelled, which is understandable, but they had a
work area in the main hallway to the swimming pool. No slippers were
provided, so my family and I had to walk through the work area in bare
feet. Not really a great experience.
* The hallways and pool of the hotel seem dated. They are focusing on
the rooms and lobby updates first.
* the bathroom in the room had a sliding door that kept coming off its
track. When it did you got locked in the bathroom until someone forced
the door back out. A little scary for a kid.
* Although the room was nice, it was set on an inside corner. We had a
patio (which we didn't use) but had zero view from the room itself
because we were in the corner. We looked at a wall (the patio wall) out
the window of the bedroom, and out the main room window we saw the other
hotel wing.
So, overall, good hotel cleanliness, decent location, room was pretty
good itself (except the view), the staff was nice, but the parking is a
no-go, and they should tell you that a King room doesn't really sleep 4
as advertised. We ended up paying probably $100 more than we should
have. There have to be other better places to stay in Vancouver.
