I travel to Vancouver frequently and I always stay at the Barclay. The price
(under $100 May-September and $50 in the off season) is unbeatable for a room
with a private bathroom in such a prime location on Robson Street. There are
literally dozens of restaurants and stores just outside your door. While the
hotel may not be luxurious, I have always been very comfortable, and the staff
have always been friendly and helpful. Other reviewers have said there are
better options - I would like to know what those are, because I have never been
able to find a hotel in this location location and price range that's as good as
the Barclay. The continental breakfast buffet in the basement is also great for
the price, and the staff there are also very friendly and helpful. I rarely have
a car with me, but the last time I did the Barclay had an agreement with the
Empire Landmark next door for parking at a very reasonable price.

I think the cost of the hotel is high for the type of hotel it is. It's old and
has no elevator and no breakfast. However, the location is great and the staff
is very nice and it's very clean, everything worked perfectly in the room.

No elevator, lots of stairs, dated rooms, room gets too hot at night and very
cold in the morning. The beds were not made to hotel standard and reception desk
didn't connect our incoming calls. We drove from Washington so obviously we had
a car but nowhere to park but on the streets. Don't think we'll be staying here
again.

For $49 a night (plus tax) this is a great basic hotel. If you want luxury and a
large room then pay a bit more. I am someone who would rather spend my money
sightseeing than on accommodation. The rooms were small and basic, but clean,
tidy and warm. It is a convenient location, surrounded by restaurant and shops,
with a bus stop and convenience store within the block. Location is important in
Vancouver, as some of the other cheap hotels I looked into were in the Downtown
Eastside, a very scary neighborhood. We did have to pay $15 a night to park our
car in a nearby hotel, as their parking lot was being used for renovations.

This is a hotel with relatively good rates in a good location but other than
that nothing to be excited. Old outdates hotel with no elevator although is a 3
storey hotel. Tiny bathroom without sink which is in the bedroom .Room was clean
but with outdated furniture like the all hotel. For sure there are better
choices for same price and although no major inconveniences one time was enough.

The requested ground-floor room was not available so we were given an up-graded
room. The room was large, clean and comfortable with a king-size bed. Only two
small bars of soap in the bathroom. No other toiletries. Would have been nice to
have tea and coffee making facilities. The continental breakfast was good value.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Gave us advice on where to go and
booked a taxi for us when we left. The location of the hotel was convenient for
the hop-on hop-off bus. Would go again if in Vancouver.
