Arrived here and writing this review on the very first day! I'm very impressed
with the room itself as it has all the necessary things which i didn't expect
for a hotel that was meant to be 2-3 star.
It has microwave, wifi, fridge, iron, ironing board, and so much more which I
didn't expect!
Really nice welcome for me... coming all the way from Malaysia and a tiring 18
hour journey!
Will write more ...as the stay progresses, of my impressions. But so far, so
good... I'd recommend this place thus far..

We choose to stay at the Best Western Uptown whenever we attend something in
downtown Vancouver. It is far enough away from the crazy city noise, yet a short
cab ride back and forth (or a walk in the summer). Friendly staff, free parking,
great little restaurant attached, and continental breakfast. Had my laptop this
time and wireless was easy to connect and very fast. Room had all the amenities
we needed, good coffee and it is clean clean clean. You can tell the Owners and
Managers actually care about the property. We will always go back.

The Uptown is just that- not Downtown, but is easily accessed by bus from the
train or Skytrain stations on Main Street. The area does have its own appeal;
nearby Main Street has many ethnic restaurants, there is a nice small
neighborhood park- Robson Park, just a few blocks away. We stay because of its
proximity to a Taoist Ta'i Chi Centre nearby. Also well located if visiting a
patient at nearby St. Joseph's Hospital.
I have stayed a couple of times at this hotel, and it scores very high in terms
of value for price. Being from just outside the Greater Vancouver area, I know
of dozens of nondescript hotels that are no great value, and a dozen or so truly
exceptional 5 star establishments.
But the Uptown is almost unique in being a genuinely 3.5 star rated hotel that
is priced like a 2 star. There are under 60 rooms, some very oddly configured
because of the wedge shape of the property. Very basic check in counter, with
friendly staff and free newspapers. The breakfast room is adjacent- and my
advice is to skip it and eat a hot breakfast next door at the Salt and Pepper
for $5.95 ,owned by the hotel operators. Remember that each BW hotel is
privately under a franchise system, so there is a both a ma/pa feel and a
corporate neutrality to the place.
Very secure parking as noted by other reviewers and the rooms have good beds,
DSL internet gratis, the usual bathroom notions and amenities found in $150
hotels, not the $89 we paid. The toilets are crammed into a little corner, but
there is just enough room. Granite topped vanity.
A small contemplative 'garden terrace' is off the south side of the second
floor, and a modest fitness room on the third. Free ice and in-room tea/coffee.
One can order room service from the Salt and Pepper.
Drawbacks? The Kingsway area has car dealerships and a convergence of traffic,
so there is some noise and little intrinsic beauty. But there are some nice
views from the north facing rooms. Great choice if on a budget, and want the
assured quality standards mandated by Best Western.

For me a hotel cost has three parts, the room, parking and internet. This hotel
is close to town, very reasonable room rates, free secure covered parking and
free internet.
The room was perhaps a little small for my wife and I but the high ceilings
meant it did not feel cramped at all. Its close to downtown. A block from
Broadway which has shopping and restaurants. A great deal and very convenient.
We had the breakfast special at the adjacent grill. Regular fare done well and
also reasonable. The hotel did have the usual breakfast bar with pastries, toast
and cereals

Stayed here the night of U2's concert. The hotel is just a couple of miles from
the heart of the downtown core. I chose to walk, but busses run regularly along
Broadway (one block away) or one can get there quickly in a cab. The hotel has
very secure parking, a decent continental breakfast in the morning and is close
to many local coffeehouses. The room was a bit smallish, but very nicely
appointed and the staff was very helpful/courteous. Restaurant quality in the
area is limited, but all in all, I was very pleased with the price and location.
If you do not need to stay and pay for the bright lights of Downtown Vancouver,
this Best Western is a good choice. If you stay here, come into Vancouver via
91N after crossing the border. Stay with the 91 until Knight Street exit, then a
few miles to Kingsway. Hotel is about 2 miles on the right after accessing
Kingsway. Great alternative route before the evening rush hour traffic starts.

I booked this hotel for two nights and would have stayed for my whole week of
visit had I known what a gem it is but I was committed to stay elsewhere! From
the outside we originally did not have high expectations but were very happy
when we saw our room. We had a room with 2 queen beds, a fridge and microwave
and nice furnishings. Someone else has mentioned that there wasn't much room and
we certainly did not find that! We had a good size entry and closet with 2
luggage holders, comfortable furniture and a nice sized bathroom. The staff were
very helpful with directions and advice for getting around. The breakfast was
fresh and plentiful with a good number of tables in the dining room. The hotel
is situated across the road from a mall that has a grocery store, shoppers
drugmart and liquor store and is only a short walk to buses. I'm not sure why
someone felt that you needed a car from this hotel. I would highly recommend
this spot and would definitely stay there myself when back in Vancouver.

The Best Western Uptown Hotel (Vancouver) was well maintained, neat, and
situated well for access to Skytrain, bus links, and the Vancouver Train
Terminal. Relatively inexpensive for a Vancouver city hotel. The location on
East Broadway is also convenient for many Broadway cafes and restaurants that
have some character, such as Our Town Cafe.

New beds, friendly staff, free continental breakfast. Location, wireless
internet in lobby only. The hotel is a $15 cab ride to downtown Vancouver, the
rooms are not special but they have new beds, the lobby area is small and the
hotel has no pool or exercise area. The area is not a place to go for a walk at
night. For just a place to stay it is ok. Nothing special about the hotel. The
staff is the best thing the hotel has going for it.

We traveled with another couple and picked the location for travel in Vancouver
and the general area. My wife was attending a medical convention so it was a
vacation and business mix. The room was great and the bed was comfortable. Big
room with microwave and frig. The only down side was the parking. We ended up
with an upgraded rental car that was a midsize SUV. Comfortable for 4 people and
luggage but tricky parking in the basement garage. A small car would have been
easier parking. Staff was great and the continental breakfast was adequate.
Yogurt, boiled eggs, bagels, etc. The general area felt safe and we did some
walking to the grocery store and to ethnic restaurants in the area.

We found this to be ideally located. Not too close, not too far... from
downtown. Very convenient public bus transport into the city. Convenient
"underground/safe" parking. Rooms very large and attractive. Very clean, good
housekeeping, fine front-desk operations.
Fine little restaurant next door. Hotel has a fine continental breakfast!

$10 cab ride to downtown Vancouver or buses easy. Stayed with adult daughter for
4 nights. 2 x double beds...small but good mattresses, comfy. Microwave in room
was good addition, bathroom clean and ample space for 2 adults. Across from food
store and mall...great shopping without the tourist prices ! Also fantastic
shops down the street, lots of restaurants. We ate at the hotels restaurant 2
nights and the service andquality of food was very high whilst the prices
reasonable.
Free continental breakfast was basic but lots of places to eat nearby.
Only drawback was the noisy air con...like a jet plane, we were told they are
upgrading shortly. Because of 33.8 C temperatures we needed it and no breeze
from windows. After 3rd night we got used to it....ALMOST !
Would stay again for at least 2 nights for the shopping.....local prices and
great shops..IF they have replaced the air cons !!

I recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be very nice. The evening staff
was very pleasant and informative. The staff during the day was efficient, and
business-like not as pleasant and attentive but ok nonetheless.
The room was nicely appointed for the cost, but the toilet was awkwardly placed
in my room almost like it was an afterthought and the King room was on the
smallish side if 2 people were to be staying in it. The parking was *very*
secure. Double gates with separate swipes were needed to get into the
underground parking area.
Only the lobby has wi-fi at this time, but I was told this was going to be
changing in the next few months. It was no big deal as they had Cat 5 cords for
guests and Ethernet outlets in the room so it was as good as in my opinion. I'd
rather fast fixed line internet vs. slow wi-fi in any case.
There was a decent breakfast during the day from what I saw (I didn't partake)
and there was room service provided by a pub adjacent to the hotel. The gym had
a nice view of the mountains with modern equipment.
Transit was never a problem, and the hotel is right near a shopping mall with
grocery store and drug store. Car repair and tire shops are also nearby should
you need them. A nice neighbourhood - definitely cleaned up the area in the last
few years. I would stay here again no problem.

A great place to stay. It was clean, comfortable and service was friendly.
Parking and check-in process was good. The only problem I had was the Internet
didn't work. It wasn't important, because I was not there on business and all I
needed to check was my email, which I did using my BlackBerry. The lobby
computer worked, but was very slow and the printer didn't work, so we were
unable to print our boarding passes after checking in online for our flight back
home. Overall, it was still positive and I will stay here again next time I
visit.

We found this hotel to be what we expected, clean, comfortable and good value.
We spent 3 nights here before touring BC and Alberta. The room was small with
only double beds but the price was less than $90. The hotel is within 2 minutes
of a bus stop that takes you to Downtown, Stanley Park, Metrotown. There are
also a couple of places nearby to eat, the Pad Thai place was very nice anf
there is a super market across the road. We would stay here again.

We stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Uptown. It is very convenient to downtown
at a very reasonable price. The rooms are average size but have a couple of nice
touches like bed top cushioned padding, a curved shower curtain and nice
shampoos, mouthwash etc. They have secured underground parking (bring a small
car because it is tight) included in your stay which was one of my conditions to
stay as I had a vehicle. The complimentary breakfast is pretty basic compared to
others such as Fairfield but is adequate... great bagels, pastries, fruit, but
no hot items... Coffee is bad "Nescafe machine" but there is a "Waves" coffee
shop (just like a Starbucks or Blenz) just one block away on main. There is
coffee in the room which is better. Request a room on the side street or the
back for a bit more quiet as Kingsway is busy with trucks etc.... The staff is
helpful and they rooms are VERY clean. They get a lot of visitors and occupancy
but seem to be staying up with the traffic. It is just a 5 minute drive
(depending on time of day & traffic) to get to Downtown... They do have a
personal computer and printer in the lobby which you need to share with others
but was generally available. No privacy however as the screen faces the desk and
lobby, so use with caution if you are accessing personal information. There is a
small resturant attached which shares the building but we did not use.

This hotel was great value for the cost. It is not fancy and if you wish to feel
coddled and pampered, this might not be the place for you. It is clean and very
quiet for the three nights we stayed. The staff was helpful. Free underground
secured parking (noteworthy). We actually enjoyed the free breakfast. Good
orange juice, coffee, fruit, cereals. Free choice of a few newspapers. Safe area
of town.
This is in the Main Street/ Broadway area which is a 15 minute drive or 45
minute walk from the heart of downtown Vancouver . Main and Broadway Streets are
miles of unique stores and restaurants with very few franchise stores and made
for lots of interesting wandering.

It was a good value being fairly close to downtown. Parking was included in the
price, it seems that other hotels in Vancouver and Seattle want an extra charge
for parking. Exercise room was open 24 hours with floor to ceiling windows to
view the mountains.
The location was okay, the motel was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were nice
and the staff was very friendly.
