Pre and post cruise stay. Nothing to complain about; clean, easy to find, good
location, accessible, okay restaurant. In a city just full of nice hotels and
good dining, it's just another one of the herd. Perfect for our purposes and
easy walking everywhere. Maybe it was a tad expensive for what they had to
offer, but quite adequate and comfortable.

Stayed two nights for business. This represents very good value for the downtown
core of Vancouver and the rooms were large with plenty of windows. Walk able to
the new SkyTrain station that connects you to the airport. I would stay there
again without hesitation.

Decided to stay here after reading all the reviews here . We got a
package deal through WestJet Vacations for a flight & hotel and got to
stay on the 29th floor at no extra charge.
The room was spacious and very clean, the staff was friendly and very
helpful. The view was fantastic, overlooking Robson Street and the bay.
We ate a few times at the Inlets Bistro, pretty good food around $10-$15
per person.
We did use the pool and hot tub area. If the hotel is wondering where to
spend their money it should be here for upgrades. The hot tub had
peeling paint and the pink tiles around the pool could be replaced.
Overall it was a great stay, the staff were very accommodating and
friendly, and it's in a great location, close to everything.

Wife and I spent 3 nights last week in Vancouver and our accommodations
were the Blue Horizon on Robson Street right in the middle of downtown
Vancouver. This was a very nice hotel and even though it was built in
the 60s (estimated) it was very easy to tell they work hard to keep the
place updated and maintained.
The staff is awesome and were extremely responsive for requests like
extra towels and pillows. I think they brought those things to our door
within two minutes after we called! Talk about service!
Our king size bed was very comfortable and a main reason why we slept in
a couple mornings and they did include a mini-fridge in our room which
was really needed. I also really liked the balconies that were outside
every room. Really nice touch.
The hotel does lack a few areas and one of those is a free breakfast.
They also charge $.50 for local calls! What's up with that? Also there
are no microwaves in the rooms. This would have really helped us out as
we had a few items with us that required a microwave for us to enjoy
those things. Also the TV, while having an extensive selection of
channels, has no local channels and if you want local TV, you have to
watch Seattle stations! I know there are TV stations in Vancouver, but
you could not watch any of them at this hotel.
Parking is also an expensive $14/day plus taxes, but at least you get a
covered garage onsite.
Aside from those, the Blue Horizon is a very nice hotel and can be well
worth it. You just have to dig deeper to pay for the extra conveniences
and ammenities that other hotels usually just throw in.

Loved the views and all the windows in our room. Convenient location.
Some noise at night from Robson St. Noisy A/C unit. We enjoyed our stay
at the Blue Horizon. The views were fantastic, especially at sunset and
early in the morning. While the location itself is not picturesque, it
is centrally located and convenient for exploring the city. We stayed
here with our 7-month-old and had take out for dinner every night. There
are decent places nearby to get food from (Asahi-Ya, La Bretagne
Creperie) and Mondo Gelato is right across the street! The negatives: a
couple of nights the noise drifted up from Robson St (car alarms, people
yelling) and the room got warm at night. It was warm in the hallways so
maybe the heat was on? The room thermostat didn't seem to do anything so
we tried using the a/c, but the unit was pretty noisy and impossible to
sleep with it on. I would have left a window open, but was discouraged
by the street noise.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat. it exceeded our expectations.
yes, the elevators were slow but I was on vacation and slowing down was
a good thing. We requested a west side room, were accommodated and
recommended by staff that we be in room for the sunset around 8pm. it
was spectacular, overlooking the English Bay. very large corner room
with balcony. clean and comfortable. the bed was like sleeping in hugs.
This hotel is in a major high fashion shopping district, lots of
interesting store fronts and people to see. if you like shopping this is
the spot but also in walking distance of everything we wanted to do. we
rented bikes a few blocks down from the hotel and spent a day in Stanley
Park riding along the seawall and taking in the beautiful views and
weather. The price is very reasonable compared to other area hotels with
higher prices and lower reviews. On our last day there we checked out at
11am but the staff stored our luggage while we visited the city all day
prior to our night time flight. Great Hotel. I am pleased and looking
forward to visiting again.

I can only echo what other positive reviewers have said about this
hotel. We arrived at about 9.30 am following an Alaska cruise and were
surprised and delighted that we were able to check in immediately. The
following day we asked if we could keep the room a little later (as we
had hire car issues) and this was also accommodated without any problem.
The room was huge with a balcony with amazing views, extremely
comfortable beds, a fridge, very modern bathroom and free internet. The
location is excellent and we were able to walk to Stanley Park easily.
The breakfast was excellent - the best pancakes and Canadian bacon I've
ever had. I would return just for the breakfast! Two small niggles - the
lifts were quite small, and slow and the indoor pool was very small and
shallow. But there is a decent hot tub and a sauna so the overall
experience was good. A gem in the heart of Vancouver.

It's fair to say we did our homework here. It was our wedding and we had
20 out of towners needing a hotel to satisfy both budget and quality.
Having viewed nearly every other hotel in its class we went with the BH.
Rooms were huge and most had a fantastic view - we preferred the
southern rooms as these provided uninterrupted views (and were actually
cheaper than the northern rooms which had restricted mountain views).
If you are not familiar with the city and are looking for central
location - look no further
Thumbs up all the way.

We stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be quite comfortable. The
view was awesome, as we were on the 21st floor. The added balcony was
nice. The free internet was a nice amenity but at times it was glitchy
so it would either be ridiculously slow or not work at all, but most of
the time it was fine. We weren't in our room much as we were out and
about so it worked well for us.
The hotel is a nice walking distance to Stanley Park, which is a MUST
see. Around the corner is a crepe place that looked really busy but we
never actually tried it. It is central to the Vancouver Art Gallery, and
the Pacific Centre. Since it's located on Robson Street, you are in the
center of all the shopping, so if you like shopping, this hotel is in
the perfect location.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it to anybody who
wants to be central to a lot of Downtown sights.

This hotel is an older hotel that has been redone very nicely. It is
right on Robson street which is an excellent location, and they had a
promotion so our room was not super expensive like some other hotels
downtown Vancouver. The hotel does not look like much from outside, but
the rooms are large and very nicely done. There is a charge for parking,
but that is expected downtown. We travelled with a group of 10 people, 6
adults and 4 children and all of us were extremely happy with our rooms.
The bathrooms are a little small, but this did not cause any issues.
There is free internet connections which was nice also. The hotel is
within walking distance to Stanley Park. We did not use the pool because
it was very small and just over 3 feet deep the whole length which was
kind of weird. I imagine it is just for lane swimming. We would
definitely stay at the Blue Horizon again.

A good base for visiting the city - shopping ,waterfront ,and Stanley
Park all within walking distance.
Rooms large and light with everything you would expect. We stayed twice
and the second room was more expensive than the first ; in all respects
it was identical to the first except for being on a higher floor and
with a view of the water. I don't think it was worth paying extra for,
the basic room was fine.
Desk staff brisk, pleasant and efficient.
We found that the breakfast was good, quickly served with lots of choice
.

Found it through www.allure-hotels.com
and must say the location, the bed, the room, the view, the wonderful staff,
breakfast, EVERYTHING was great! I'll be there next time as well, whenever that
will be. I did stay high in the building though. Floor 29, and it costs more to
be above the 14th but oh so worth it. Both for the unbeatable views and it helps
with the noise from Robson St below. The whole city has a hum of traffic though,
due to the fact that there is no freeway so when you're going anywhere, you're
going through city. Makes for congestion. Not the Hotel's fault, and frankly if
I'd stayed at Hotel Vancouver (much more than the 169.00 I spent per night) it
would have been just as noisy. It's like NYC that way, there's always traffic.
But really, the bed and linens, the staff, wow! Blue Horizon don't change a
thing. You felt like a luxury hotel even though I only paid a moderate price.
Thank you!

We (self, spouse, teenager) shared a superior, two queen size beds, room in July
arriving on Canada Day (July 1). The room was spacious and very clean. We did
not feel crowded after six nights. The views were good. The higher up the room,
the better the view. Also, you may want to select the side of the building so
that you have a view of Stanley Park and the water. We were on the 24th floor,
and we did not really hear noise while sleeping with open windows. The room had
a small fridge so you could store some things, but no microwave. We had no
problem connecting to the internet from our room. The workout facilitiies were
really nothing. I swam laps in the pool one day, but it is very small. There is
also a hot tub and sauna.
The hotel has a decent breakfast at a reasonable price. The location is such
that you can walk everywhere. The only time we used public transportation was to
go to Lynn Canyon and the airport. We found we could go everywhere on foot and
enjoyed it. We walked the entire Stanley Park as well as to Yaletown several
times to catch some of the jazz festival.
The staff was friendly and courteous. They were able to give us an early
check-in as we arrived early in the morning.

Without the great location, the hotel would be quite basic. It is a bit worn out
and the small lobby doesn't have the services that big hotels usually have.
Nevertheless, the basic services work fine and the rooms are ok. The rooms in
the higher floors have nice views.

We really loved this hotel. The rooms were lovely and clean and of a decent
size. We were on the 15th floor, (there was over 30). Because of the shape of
the hotel all rooms are corner rooms and all have balconies. I'd love to stay at
this hotel again. It's right on top of everything. The staff were very helpful.
The pool, while not being the best looking was very good, and is regularly
checked by the staff for water quality.

Large windows on two sides of the room made for beautiful views, despite less
than perfect weather. Lots of room, very comfortable beds, and a balcony. The
front desk staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
