Couldn't open the curtains for the 5 day stay due to workmen on the
balcony therefore a very gloomy stay. Very disappointed with pool and
gym out of action when expectation on booking earlier this year was that
this would be unaffected. Staff courteous and helpful. Loved the printer
and wifi access in the foyer. Breakfast a bonus. Rooms tired and in need
of a renovation but extremely spacious. Would try this hotel again once
renovations completed but until then, at the price, would try elsewhere.

honestly... this place shouldn't be renovated. it should be torn down
and rebuilt. what good is it that you do renos on the outside to make it
look pretty on the street, where the inside looks 1970ish.. it just
looks gloomy. not fresh at all. sure location is nice, but do you really
want to be dreading going back to the hotel every night?

Stayed here from 15th to 22nd June. We were on a 7 day city break to
Vancouver. Rooms were large and comfortable and staff polite and
helpful. We were warned about the renovation work by our travel agent
before our departure but it did not affect us as we were out sightseeing
for most of our visit. Hotel is within walking distance of all the
tourist thing to do in Vancouver. Would recommend this hotel to anyone
staying on a budget as it was great value for the money we paid for our
week.

Wife and I stayed for 3 nights. Had a suite at the rear of the hotel 17
floors up. The suite was a reasonable size, slightly dated but adequate.
Lifts quick even for the 17th floor. Need your room swipe card to access
lift as well as car-park and room. One large bed which was comfortable.
Views only of other high rise properties. Quiet accept we made the
mistake of having our room opposite the lifts which clanked most of the
night. Breakfast included and on the 2nd floor, no views, choice was
limited the same everyday. Staff were very helpful and polite. We were
on a fly drive, be warned car parking at the hotel was 98 CAD for the 3
days! The city centre was convenient 10 mins walk away. The harbour was
a 7 dollar taxi ride or 30 mins walk. For a little over a £100 a night
and being a major city it was a reasonable cost for what we got.
Room Tip: High up at the rear away from the lifts

On arrival we drew back the drapes only to see a workman, in a helmet,
on his hands and knees, looking straight at us. This was particularly
upsetting as our booking agents had called us to say that the work on
the east wing had been completed and we would be allocated a room
unaffected by the renovation work.
Notwithstanding the initial disappointment, the strength of the hotel is
it's location. Within walking distance of the ferry to Granville Island,
well worth a visit; Davey Street village, with a choice of every type of
restaurant that you can think of; and Robson Street if you like to shop.
Despite the droning of pneumatic drills, our room was comfortable, with
a kitchen area and sofa, albeit too soft to be comfotable, and a
desk/work station with high speed internet access.
We found the breakfast to be very average compared with those we had
experienced other hotels on our trip from Calgary through the Rockies to
Vancouver.
Be warned that although they say parking is $19/ night they add on the
tax when they give you the bill. UK guests will find this practice
particularly annoying.

Stayed here with 2 other middle aged women and enjoyed our 3-night stay.
The parking garage is a bit dark and could be eerie if alone at night,
and if you aren't use to living in a big city, the occasional homeless
person on the nearby streets might put you off; however, I didn't feel
unsafe and we took a walk in the evenings. My friends and I had read the
reviews here and they are pretty accurate, but we were attracted to the
prices. There was a some minor construction in October when we were
there, but we were more interested in having clean rooms and a place to
crash after sightseeing. The breakfast was really good and the staff
were very nice. I could see were a family may be disappointed with some
of the facilities not being available, but we would stay here again.

Stayed at the
Cascadia Hotel for 4 nights and did our best to limit the actual
time spent in our room. The ongoing total renovation of the outside and
many areas inside have been mentioned already by various other reviewers
& it looks terrible from the outside & from the room. They have a peg on
the curtains to keep them closed so that the workers can't see in. We
asked what the arrangements were for a gym / pool and were told that the
gym had been relocated to the 21st floor. We went up - OMG - it was a
bedroom (which actually had a view without scaffolding or netting). It
had one old treadmill, 1 old cross-trainer type thing & a load of free
weights - that was the gym!!!! There was a very large private gym in the
next street so why they couldn't arrange something there, I don't know.
They gave us a voucher to go to the public swimming pool - we decided to
pass on that one.
We were not informed of the renovations prior to our arrival & have
taken this up with the tour company who booked it for us but they aren't
interested.
The bedroom was quite big but the furniture old fashioned & in need of
replacement. This is not a cheap hotel & therefore I would strongly
advise against staying there.
