Inexpensive Hotel in an Asian part of the city. Bathroom was old but clean, bed was comfortable. Decent inexpensive restaurants within walking distance. Wifi available.
This Hotel is a great value but do not expect anything more than the basics. Staff was very friendly, "continental breakfast" was mediocre at best.

a good value for the price. room was comfortable, not cramped. the microwave and fridge were very handy. located within walking distance of the sky train - great for visiting downtown Vancouver. the neighborhood was ethnic and working class - interesting, but not much to see and do. the underground parking garage was also a nice feature. the attached restaurant always seemed to be closed, and they never posted what times they were open.

This hotel is filthy and infested with bed bugs. Just as terrible was the service and lack of response by management to this issue. By far this was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel.

I needed a hotel in a hurry and having a previous good experience with Hotwire I booked a 2.5 star hotel in Vancouver. Oh, oh. The lesson here is: don’t choose anything less than a Hotwire 3 star. In fairness to Hotwire, they did give me my money back.
After I accepted their online offer they then told me the name of the hotel. After that I discovered patrons rate it very poorly. Here’s my take upon my arrival
*various articles of clothing strewn upon the front steps
*5 police officers in the lobby
*The lingering hint of pepper-spray in the air
*A friendly front desk clerk who wanted a $100 cash or credit card deposit; even though I’d prepaid through Hotwire!
*I insisted upon seeing the room first and was escorted there by the clerk; the room looked OK but the piercing high pitched sound from the plumbing of a near by room caused us both to look at one another in bewildered amazement.
*According to the clerk, a pair of thugs made entry to the previously secure lobby and kicked in the door of a guest (apparently known to the thugs). The guest was robbed of a laptop and who knows what else.
*I declined the room, went back to the rental car and phoned Hotwire for my refund.
*There is a silver lining; I discovered a great value hotel in Vancouver, all on my own. It’s the Best Western Uptown Hotel on Kingsway. It’s a twenty minute drive towards the heart of the city and an ocean away from the Cassandra.

I checked-in on Jan 19th. It was raining. But this was not a problem. The parking lot of Cassandra Hotel is underground and protected against the rain. I could safely carry my three bags. It would have been much more difficult if I had chosen a hotel without this feature. Vancouver is a very rainy city. I am glad I am going to stay at Cassandra Hotel. protected against rain and (even worse) flu.

“This Cassandra Hotel is strategically located close to restaurants. The Skytrain is just a few strides away from the Joyce Collingwood Skytrain Station which connects you to east and westbound areas of Vancouver. The amenities are superb and the hotel staff are very accommodating. I look forward to a week long hassle-free stay at Cassandra.”

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. My plan to stayed over there was 4 nights, but I changed and stayed only 3 nights. I already paid full amount in cash for 4 nights in advance, so at checkout time I asked to front desk clerk for refund of 4th night. She gave me receipt with full details of my paid amount and refund amount, and she told me that account manager was not there, so they will send me check for refund amount at my USA address.
After 15 days I called them from USA that I didn't receive any check, Account manager told me that they will mail it within week. I waited for other 15 days, and called again. They told me that they already sent me a check. I waited for another 15 days and called them again. This time they told me that they didn't mail check!!! so they will mail it today. But after 1 week nothing result. O.k. my refund amount is CAD $ 55.00. I plan to go BBB.

Cassandra Hotel offers the amenities that you can get from a 4-5 star hotel, yet at very reasonable prices. There is new management and they are particularly focused on the service aspect. Recreational amenities at Cassandra Hotel include a spa tub and a sauna. Cassandra Hotel also offers wireless Internet access, multilingual staff, and business services. The property has a 24-hour front desk. The parking is complimentary

The hotel is nice and clean. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was pretty quiet. The staff was very nice, pleasant and helpful. The only negative comment we can make concerns the mattresses/beds, which were a little dated. Also, the hotel is about 15-20 minutes away from Downtown Vancouver . If you don’t mind the drive, this is a good place to stay. The breakfast (consisting of a snack bar, an apple and a small juice box) was very modest but free. The parking is free too!
