true, if you stay in the courtyard you have to walk across the alley from the
main building, but once you're inside the gate it's charming and 'old world-ish'.
friendly, efficient service. comfortable beds, large room, great view of the
courtyard and uber-central to everything downtown,
my daughter and i will stay again.

For its price, this is a comfortable, clean well-located hotel within an easy
walk of the Art Gallery, and all Downtown activities and shopping. The secure
underground parking is a great asset. Our room was clean and large and staff
were efficient. But this is not an up market hotel and does not pretend to be.
Be aware that this part of Granville St is quite run down, although not in a
disturbing way. Good easy walk to Denman St with its fine restaurants. Excellent
value

This place looks awful from the outside and I can't really rate the inside as we
were put in a separate building after checking in. They called it the 'Court
Yard' but I would call it 'Down and Outs Hang-Out'. The actual room was small
but ok. To get to it you had to walk down an unlit road to a heavy metal door
where you swiped your room card and walked through to the 'Court Yard'. You then
walked past what looked like a small apartment block where a security guard
actually lived (there were plants etc on the window sill) and we saw the
security guard when he let the door slam in our faces. Our small building was
horrible, dirty carpet led up to our room, passing other rooms and we had to
carry our suitcases up 2 or 3 flights of stairs. To be honest we didn't feel
safe at all and the final straw was when we were stared at by 2 girls sitting
outside our building door smoking weed - very welcoming! I wouldn't recommend
this place for more than one night and parking is expensive. Definitely not for
kids.

A great location on Granville St is the best feature of this tired-ish BW
property. Despite being a loyal guest, my plea for late check out was firmly
declined. The room was spacious, clean and well-equipped but a little dated.
While we requested a quiet room, the ice maker was our friend all night long.
The "free" WiFi demonstrated all the bandwidth of dial-up.

The hotel was great. We've stayed several times in the past and the staff are
outstanding. Very helpful. The recently renovated restaurant was truly a
surprise with very good deals on dinner. Great location as its downtown but not
in the crazy hub of everything. Guestrooms were super clean and it was excellent
to have a balcony to people watch from.

I and a few friends have student visas to work in Vancouver for one year so our
plan was to stay in a hostel for a while before getting our bearings and finding
an apartment/house. However, after a couple of nights there, we found that the
Chateau Granville was actually cheaper when all 4 of us shared a room! We had
the security of having our own keys, own bathroom, free internet and clean linen
(a big plus). The room was actually three times the size we were used to. We
stayed in the rooms across from the main hotel in the courtyard and while the
alley way can be a bit daunting and I don't think I'd chance it alone by myself
late at night, it is well lit and very close to a door which leads directly to
the hotel. As for the area, there are a lot of homeless people and yes a 25c
peepshow but that's just the area. We never had any trouble or felt intimidated.
There's a good nightlife on Granville St. and the hotel is also very close to
the skytrain, only 10 min walk so the location was perfect. The hotel itself was
clean, and staff were very friendly. The restaurant downstairs was a little
pricey but nice. We only had a problem one night in particular as there was a
group of around 25 college kids who acted up in the hallways and kept a lot of
people up. It was annoying as I don't think staff did enough to stop them and
left them stay again for a further two nights. Appart from this, for us it was
great, we stayed for over a month: cheaper than a hostel and more secure plus
the location suited us down to the ground. We were sad to leave once we found a
house

I've stayed in various properties for business trips within the Vancouver area,
and rate this hotel as one of the best values. The rooms are exceptionally
clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The restaurant decor and menu is fantastic, and once they complete their entire
renovation it will be an even better hotel for business or pleasure

Room was extremely clean. Staff was quick and prompt. The hallways need to be
updated, but are otherwise clean. Elevators need some TLC, but are otherwise
safe and clean. The Elevators have no 13th floor. Got a good deal with a 30 day
advanced booking. Would stay there again for same deal or slightly more money.

This is pretty much like any other best Western. It's clean, simple with nothing
special. What makes this hotel awesome is the location. It is an easy walk to a
lot of really cool bars and nightclubs. The Best Western Chateau Granville is
situated close to downtown attractions. Excellent service. The
Rendez-Vous Restaurant
is quite nice, also. Good rates.

The Best Western Chateau Granville hotel is located in the part of downtown full
of nightclubs, bars, and restaurants. Not once did I not feel safe walking down
the street. The hotel itself is very nice. The suite that I had was very clean
and well appointed. Nice view of
Granville Street Entertainment District from my balcony on the 11th floor
too. I will definitely be back to Vancouver again soon and will be staying at
the Chateau Granville.

Yes, Granville street right around the Chateau Granville hotel , but it is an
easy walk to everywhere and the rooms are very nice. We always stay here when we
visit Vancouver because we can get a nice 2-room suite for under CAD$100 and
when travelling with a baby it is really really nice to be able to put him in
another room at night.

The Best Western Chateau Granville hotel is an older hotel.
However, the rooms were clean and had all the basic necessities. The onsite
restaurant had great breakfast with overly generous portions at reasonable
prices. Front desk staff were very helpful and efficient. The neighborhood is
slightly sketchy but very conveniently located within quick walking distance to
trendy Yaletown. Only complaint was that the room did not get warm enough and
the heating system was very loud. Recommend this as an economical hotel for
travelers who just want a clean and convenient place to crash at the end of the
day. Not suitable for a romantic getaway.

Originally booked hotel online but called a week before to see if it was pet
friendly. For 25.00 extra we got a pet friendly room and an upgrade to a suite.
Extremely conveniently located downtown and very affordable. Would definitely
book again! |
