I have been to the Delta Suites twice now, once in 2007, this time 2009. It's so good I will be returning in 2010 when I am back in Vancouver. (I must be mad - Perth to Vancouver is about 36 hours in transit...but it's a great city to visit, though these two times it was work).
Now, here's the key thing: first time I went, I was on my own and was really happy. This time my wife - a notoriously picky hotel visitor - came with me and I was a little nervous she might not concur with my choice. But, in fact, she did. She loved it. It helped that we stayed in a relatively expensive club room, with free breakfast in the lounge, free net and so on, but the room was big (this is what you pay for at the Delta) - two separate rooms, essentially. I really can't fault anything about the place - usual Canadian politeness, but actually genuine; cookie on arrival - great; FREE water (I mean how cool is that? I don't care if I am paying for it on the check, it just is so much more friendly to get free bottled water each night). Staff were really accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble - and I think people need to tune in to the fact that polite, friendly staff are better than fawning, tip-hungry flunkies. The rooms - if you can get up to a high floor have brilliant views.
Location is good - not perfect (that would on the water front), but very close to Gastown and buses etc nearby. Definitely recommend it for busy in the city, it's a bit of a walk to the shopping areas however.
Probably the only query I have on this is cost... but it's what you pay for. I'd definitely recommend you spend some more money and get a high room and, if possible a corner room - I stayed in one last time (2007) and they have floor to ceiling windows on two sides... utterly delightful. So...if you want cheap and serviceable, no; but if you want genuine service and a really lovely view, definitely yes.

All I can say is: great staff: From the houseman who willingly set up the little one's playpen to the chef who was willing to go the extra mile in chopping up our little girl's pancakes over breakfast, the staff here made the stay excellent. The guest services/valet guy at the front, someone from the UK I think, was really striving to go out of his way in packing the car up or helping us out and in all, the front line staff made this a real treat. As a long standing tourism employee myself, I felt this Delta really did exceed service expectations.
All the best to the management in their successful recruitment of a terrific team.

Yes, what happened!? I thought this was a nice hotel...

Doors were not held at all. I thought all hotels had someone holding the door for you. Especially when you're carrying bags that are heavy and require help! Nope. Opened the door on our own, carried them up the flight of stairs that they had... and then checked in.

Checking in was okay. We were so tired. They wanted to give us a map and show us what was around right away, okay. They were able to give us an early check in though, that was great.

And then we get to our room. It was quite small, actually. Not what I had imagined. We were facing the streets, with construction, but good insulation paid off. After taking a little nap, I thought to take a shower. But alas, I find hair in the towels.

I guess what was good was that all staff were helpful. They were ready to tell us about the local bar, where to go for Italian food, for a coffee, etc. The bar/lounge/coffee place within the hotel was not opened at all times (of which I thought it should be.. people need drinks, you know!), so we had to scoot over and get a coffee.

The location was quite central as well. If you intend on doing everything downtown, this is the place to be. But I would rather pay more for service than location, that's me.

This is my second time staying at the Delta Suites and I couldn't be happier. All of the staff were so helpful. They gave us excellent directions, maps, advice on where to wander - advice on where to get money out of an ATM that would take our International cards. Good STUFF! Our room was clean and bright and the bed was very comfortable. We had room service deliver a continental breakfast in the morning which was delicious but ridiculous (4 tiny croissants!) That said I'd do it again in a heartbeat. No warm cookie at arrival also - must have been a budget cutback though a sad little gesture to see go.

All in all would recommend highly and stay again in a heartbeat

The room was very spacious and it was met with five star service and cleanliness. Parking was a pain, we had to park our rental car across the street in a garage, unsafe! From the moment we entered the hotel we were greeted by a clerk at the front desk who was polite and very informative to us tourists. The rooms were amazing, it felt more like a little apartment, not a hotel. Definitely a home away from home.

Location was excellent, bed was comfortable. Charging for slow internet. Staff was friendly. I don't know what other business travelers do that need to use their laptop computers. I spent 45 minutes trying to get online to my web pages with no success. The front desk staff told me that no one has complained about this. But down at Blenz Coffee shop down the street, they told me there that they get a lot of Delta guests.

Minor complaint - the TV remote did not work (I did not have time to call to have the staff fix it). Also, the ottoman and overstuffed chair were slightly grungy, but definitely not in the too gross to touch category! Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant food and service were very good. Room service was also quite good, but not available very late night hours - if that is important to you.

Price was great! I travel with my research partner and we loved that there was a Starbucks right in front of the hotel. The people were really nice and the room was clean. The beds were so comfortable I think it was the best sleep I've gotten in a long time. I highly recommend the hotel. The building is maintained nicely. It looks new and fresh.

The staff upgraded me for free to the 20th floor and she was really friendly. Also, the suites are super clean with excellent views of Vancouver and everything was so perfect! well that's in the hotel, the parking was a problem...they share a parking garage with Simon Fraser University so the staff has to physically go out of the hotel to open the gates to the parking garage. So it was kind of annoying to call the hotel staff every time. Other than, everything was great. I totally recommend this to anyone reading this review.

pro: bargain, location
con: no free internet in room, u get free internet in lobby though. no free breakfast.
I stayed 8/2009 for a conference held at waterfront conference center. I got a standard suite room for $100/night through www.allure-hotels.com . Other hotels like Fairmont and Pan Pacific cost around $250/night. Basically, for $100, it is the best bang for buck hotel. Rooms are clean, roomy, and the location is realistically 15 min walk from hotel room to front door of conference center.
1.5 blocks away is the sky train. across the street is a Thrifty car rental. Main Hastings street bus stop is right in front of hotel.

Hotel is located a 5 min stroll from Gastown and the waterfront. Right where you want to be. Staff were very helpful and friendly from the check in staff to the lovely lady that cleaned our room. Room was good, separate bedroom which was nice as there was three of us. A 5 min walk from the airporter bus link (despite what the ladies at the airporter desk told me!!). Air Canada, WestJet, Northwest check in terminal in the hotel lobby.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Delta Vancouver Suites. From the time we pulled up to valet to the time we left, we received nothing but fantastic customer service. My children were greeted with welcome gifts which entertained them while I was able to check in and get us settled. The concierge was full of great information and the room service was very tasty. But the thing I love the most was the view. I had a corner room and the bedroom had two floor to ceiling windows. It was awesome. I couldn't help but sleep with the windows open so I could gaze out at the city lights. I would most certainly stay here again!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel for a week in July and found it to be a wonderful experience. The room, (we had a Premier Suite) while a bit sparse (there is not even a chair in the bedroom to put your clothes on), was otherwise well furnished in a contemporary style with the most comfortable kingsize bed we had ever slept on. It was elegant and well suited for families because it had a separate sitting room with a sofa bed and mini refrigerator. The hotel is ideally located so that you can easily walk to almost anywhere in downtown and the staff and service is impeccable. The staff was always available to offer advice on restaurants and things to do and was amazingly responsive whenever we needed additional sheets, towels, etc. The hotel also has an excellent fitness facility. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Stayed here for one night. Location is phenomenal as you are right downtown and across from the Harbour Centre. Hotel was great; rooms were in great shape and very clean, lobby and hotel in general were in great condition. Liked the security feature of the room key swipe in order to access any floor via the elevator. Staff was not very courteous and generally stuck up which does not bode well for a traveler's experience. Overall though, I would stay at this property again. Parking garage at $27/night is reasonably priced for a downtown hotel...

My husband and I were traveling with our 10 month old son and were looking for a hotel with suites so that our son could take his daytime naps in one room while we relaxed in the other room. We settled on the Delta Suites and could not have been more pleased. The hotel appears to cater to both business travelers and families, and amazingly seems to manage this two-pronged positioning very effectively. The reason for their success is surely due to their wonderful staff. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome (they even gave our son an age-appropriate book and toy when we checked in) and eagerly gave us recommendations for places to visit/dine/walk/etc. and then followed up to hear about our experiences. The on-site restaurant had a delicious breakfast and the chef even came to our table to offer to prepare a special meal for our son, should he need anything. What a true gem in Vancouver! (And the location is great too!)

Really, i was just looking for clean and quiet since I needed to visit Vancouver on short notice. Booked through Allure Hotels, and the room cost around US$110 per night, so i didn't expect much. I was pleasantly surprised ant the size and quality of the accommodations, and especially the attitude of the service staff.

The entrance is actually on an alley off Seymour, and is an easy walk to the Sky Train, ferries, and Canadian Pacific terminal, where you can catch an airport shuttle bus. Black top cabs await.

The room is actually a room and a half, two cubes bisected by a built-in storage unit with a palsma TV on top that rotates to be visible from wherever you wish. Local calls are $1.85, and Internet is $10 additional, unless you join the Delta Privilege (free) and stay 5 times.

One of the bellmen, Rick, helped me to print my boarding pass and stored my bag for a while after checkout. he made sure I got the right cab, and provided great local knowledge on his own incentive.

You can pay two or three times more and not get a better hotel deal in Vancouver. Enjoy!

We stayed in the hotel for 3 days and were very pleased about the size of the room.
The location is perfect if you want to stroll around downtown.
The only negative thing is that you have to pay extra if you want to use WIFI internet in the room.

I tagged along on my fiancée's business trip here and although the room was already paid for, I would pay out of my own pocket to stay here again.
The reception staff and concierge were both helpful and friendly.
The room was great, a corner suite with the room split into two sub-rooms with a sliding frosted-glass divide between the bedroom and lounge. The king bed was a dream and could have slept forever in there but Vancouver is worth seeing ;-)
The breakfast was ok, but a little pricey for what you got. There's much better deals on the harbour-front, most notably the Sunday brunch at The Lift - a little pretentious but great food.
It's located 2 blocks from the Steam Works Pub which has great views of the water-front and North Vancouver. It's a very picturesque 20minute walk along the harbour-side, past Canada Place and over to Stanley Park. There's a bike rental place where the sea-planes take off from (West Coast) and it's about $6 per hour or $30 for 24hours, very reasonable & would recommend for cycling around Stanley Park.
