Stayed here for one night. Excellent location if you want to be in
downtown Vancouver! Shopping and restaurants are close by. Staff was
friendly. Got for a good rate on
www.allure-hotels.com Would definitely stay here again.

First time travel to Vancouver, chose this hotel in the center of the
city.
We made reservation through our online system; we booked 2 double beds
room for my family (with two little kids). When arrived, the front desk
said my reservation is only one double bed; I had to add additional $20
for two beds room. We had no option in the night. Second days, I showed
them their on-line system could still show 2 double beds room at the
same price I booked and my original itinerary. Second day, they added
additional $20 again.
The location of the hotel is great, but hotel’s greedy made me sick. ,
car park needs additional $12. internet needs $14, The breakfast is $16
each (my 5 yrs and 8 yrs kids had to pay the full price). also you will
expect the unreal tax add-on.
Sorry, no more O' Canada!

The hotel does not run its own shuttle from the airport, so you will
need to make your own arrangements for getting to and from the hotel.
Parking in the hotel costs C$12 per night. Enter from Robson street or
from the lane, behind the hotel. You will need to display a permit
available from reception. The garage roller gate closes at 10 p.m., but
you can enter later by pressing a button at the side of a small window.
This will alert a custodian or receptionist who will open the gate.
The hotel is situated next to residential areas and towards the edge of
the city’s main commercial area. Shops and other attractions are still
within walking distance, as Vancouver has a concentrated city center.
The staff we dealt with at reception were efficient and businesslike.
A mezzanine level to the left of reception had a computer for Internet
access and other facilities; however, the hotel charges by time for
their use.
Low lighting and dark walls made corridors a bit on the gloomy side. The
large room we had was in good condition, but showed signs of wear
(perhaps not surprising given the popularity of the hotel). It came with
the usual personal toiletries and also had a kitchen alcove with a sink,
microwave oven and bar refrigerator. A sliding door provided access to a
narrow balcony which amusingly attracted a seagull expecting to be fed
each time we went outside. The single glazing admitted some noises from
outside; however, we faced a residential area so they did not bother us.
The disadvantage we experienced was one common to most hotels: noise
from the corridor entered the room. Until we brought it to the attention
of the person in the room next door and to reception, a group of little
old ladies were in and out of one another’s rooms at various hours
letting their doors slam shut — including during nighttime when one
wanted to sleep. Unless you want them, avoid rooms with connecting
doors, as sound enters from the adjoining room despite double doors.
For the spectacular views, it is worth having a meal at the revolving
restaurant Cloud 9 on the 42nd floor. The fixed price dinner menu ($40
Sunday to Thursday, $45 Friday and Saturday with live music) and service
were acceptable. The duty manager arranged a table at the opposite side
to the music, as we wanted to dine and converse with a friend without
interference. The restaurant served breakfast but not lunch.

We booked the hotel through here for a great deal! My boyfriend and I
stayed at the Empire Landmark for a week in early April and we think the
location is amazing! The hotel is close to so many restaurants,
supermarket (a huge Safeway), attractions and the bus stop is right
outside our door!
we could also walk back to the hotel to take a break in the middle of
the day b/c of its central location.
I think they recently renovated the lobby and it looks pretty
modern...the staff there was professional and nice enough to take a
picture for us...we were on the 17th floor and we loved the view of the
mountains! the room does need a little bit of upgrading however as
paints and ceilings were chipping off..and our balcony sliding door did
not close properly so we could hear the wind at night!
we had a flat screen TV and mini fridge which was a nice upgrade from
what i expected!
the beds and pillows were very comfortable and we had the best sleep
here than any other hotels! room service was great and the room was very
clean.
overall, i would highly recommend this hotel for its location and price,
and if you are just looking for a great place to rest with basic
amenities.

Though the Check in staff (Jock) was rather unpleasant, and immediately
rubbed me the wrong way, but he was willing to make a deal. I had read
about upgrades, and that most people don't ask, so they don't get them.
I decided to buck up and ask for upgrades. Despite his coldness, he
offered us $35 CAD off of our room each night. He also gave us $3.00 off
our parking for each night. The room was large - we were surprised,
because we had read reviews stating that they were small. It is not a
fancy place, but the carpets don't make you want to wear slippers and
the bathroom had newly tiled floors. The bathroom was clean, as was our
room. I asked for different pillows and extra towels, and both were
brought in. We had a flat screen tv, and a king size bed. The cable
picture was dodgy at times, due to poor connection in the wall. The bed
was comfortable, we slept well. The room was on the 34th floor, (and the
elevator got you there FAST!) with views to Stanley Park, and right over
to North Vancouver - with Robson street beneath us. Great location for
walking through downtown, and excellent public transit access. We would
stay here again - good value for money spent when considering location
and views. The balcony might have been my favorite feature!

We stayed for 3 nights for a business trip. The rooms were clean and
tidied daily. There was a mini fridge and nice tv. Great view. Easy
walking to great shopping and Pacific Centre is within walking distance
too. We didn't eat at the Cloud 9 restaurant due to our time lines.
Service was great. Parking was reasonable compared to the prices
elsewhere. Security was constantly present in the parkade. We would
definitely stay here again given the great value.

Such a big disappointment - room is too small, looks out-dated, air
conditioning not working and very poor customer service. Maintenance guy
told us to just open the balcony door to cool the room. And when it
really got stuffy at night, called front desk (Maria) at midnight,
offered to move us to a better room but never got back to us about the
change in room. We waited and when we followed-up at 1am but we were
told "are you still waiting for the room?" as if she's surprise that we
still wanted the room change. Totally unacceptable customer service.

On a recent trip to Vancouver, we decided we would go to the rotating
rooftop restaurant for breakfast for something different. Figured we'd
give the kids a good view of the city. I should point out that we never
stay at the Landmark as there are so many better hotels on Robson.
It was very disappointing. We discovered (after we were seated) that the
restaurant doesn't rotate - only during dinner. Plus there was no
regular breakfast service, you had to have their buffet. I was also told
my 9 and 7 year old would be charged at full price rather than 1/2 price
as per the norm at most restaurants. Even with all that, we decided to
stay anyway as the view is great. The food was absolutely terrible for
what we paid. At 830 a.m., most of the food trays were empty and took
forever for them to refill. At one point, my son went to help himself to
sausages and when he got back to the table I noticed that one of the
"sausages" was actually a fried wiener! The eggs were cold. All in all
it was pitiful. We basically filled up on toast (the only thing that was
fresh as you prepared it yourself). And on a final note, the restaurant
itself is in a sad state of disrepair. The carpet and upholstery were
dirty and everything just looked old. |
