Excellent location and very reasonable prices. All staff that we
interacted with were very friendly and looked happy to be at work! Rooms
and hotel were very clean and modern. Our bed was the most comfortable I
have ever slept on, like a cloud. I am now searching to buy the
mattress. Because of this stay, when going anywhere I would first check
for a Holiday Inn location. Our entire stay was incredible, and even
with the skytrain terminus across the street, I had an amazing sleep
every night. Thank you. Can't wait to come back.

It's not the skytrain. I was put in 429 which is above the bus depot and
loading dock ('beep! beep!' sounds of loading vehicles). It felt like
the window was open. It was brutal. Couldn't relax enough to get to
sleep, was woken up early because of the noise. Was a wreck at the
client site the next day - yay! Next day they put me in 511 insisting it
was the quietest end of the hotel. Again, above buses pulling in and out
and this time I can see loading dock 4. I kept insisting that it was
just as noisy. They let me try out 517 and alas....snore. Some staff
were helpful, some were not as far as helping me GET SOME SLEEP.
Otherwise, the rooms are great although squishy, they appear newly
renovated. However, the beds were so soft my back hurt the next day and
that rarely happens in the multiple years I've stayed in business
hotels, traveled and stayed in hostels.
Great location as noted. AMAZING SUSHI PLACE NEXT DOOR!!! Salmon sashimi
like butter lol. FREE WIRELESS.

The hotel was very comfortable and felt nice and modern. Before I booked
the room, I'd read other reviews where people said the building was
remodeled, but still felt like it was from the 70's on the inside. I
didn't really get this feeling at all and neither did the girlfriend.
We booked a room with a queen size bed. The room felt a little bit
small, but since we only used the room to sleep and were otherwise gone
all day, it didn't really matter. The bed was really comfortable, but
what was great was the bathroom. The shower felt great and refreshing
and the bathroom had ample space.
Another great thing was the free breakfast. It had lots of variety
including Yoplait yogurt, english muffins, freshly made eggs and hash
browns, fruit and some other stuff. This was a nice surprise since most
free hotel breakfasts just consist of Rice Krispies cereal and warm milk
that's been sitting out. Granted, the quality wasn't like something
you'd get at a real restaurant, but if you want to eat quickly and be on
your way, plus not spend a fortune on breakfast, it's definitely a plus.
I would have given the hotel 4 stars, but it is kind of out in the
sticks a little bit. The drive into Vancouver and other touristy spots
like Stanley Park isn't bad at all, but since we were only in town for
the weekend, the commute back and forth took up a lot of valuable time.
Plus if you get tired in the early evening and want to rest at the hotel
for a little bit, it would be a pain in the rear end to drive back to
HIE from Vancouver, rest for a little bit, and then drive all the way
back to Vancouver. We had planned to do this, but by the time we were
feeling rejuvenated again, we didn't feel like making the long drive
back into town and decided to call it a night... kind of a shame when
you're on vacation and want to discover a new city...

We stayed here twice on our weeklong vacation to Vancouver for a total of 3
nights. (2 nights at beginning of trip, 1 at the end.) I can safely say this is
one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff was absolutely wonderful
every time we had interaction with them, incredibly pleasant and more than
willing to go the extra mile.
The rooms themselves are wonderful - nice and roomy, and they include a mini
fridge, microwave, and free wireless internet. The beds were amazingly
comfortable, and made it very easy to slip off to sleep each night. There is a
nice, hot, continental breakfast in the mornings. The hotel is also VERY quiet -
I cannot recall hearing other nearby guests or any outside noises at any time
while we were in our room.
The only - and I do mean ONLY - drawback on the trip: they need more luggage
racks. I think there were only 3 luggage racks while we were there, and they
were often all in use, which made getting luggage to/from the rooms a little
tricky.
I would gladly stay here any time I go to Vancouver -- and in fact, I will be
staying there again next month. I cannot wait, since I know it will be one of
the highlights
of the trip!

Excellent location for travelers who do not rent a car. You are near bus and
train transportation that will take you downtown Vancouver and beyond. I found
the desk staff very friendly and helpful with my many questions. The room was
neat and clean each day of the several days we stayed. Breakfast was quick and
easy and fresh. I would recommend the Holiday Inn Express Vancouver Metrotown
Burnaby for people who are not seeking to be in with the crowds. The tours were
great we booked them from the hotel: the Vancouver city tour was first. We saw
what we would do on our own. The Victoria tour was awe-inspiring riding the
ferry to Vancouver Island and see the Many gardens that have been in bloom for
100 years. The last tour we took was to Grouse Mountain what an adventure to
walk across the suspension bridge and climb up to the tree houses and walk
across the canopy of the forest..WoW! Wow! This was a Adventure.

We just got back after spending 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Burnaby. I had read
all the reviews on before booking at this hotel & it lived up to the previous
postings. It was clean & quiet, the staff were great, and the room was very
nice. There is a complimentary, hot breakfast every day - standard to Holiday
Inn Express. If I had one compliant it would be the noisy heating/cooling fan in
the room at night - had to just turn it off while sleeping. Considering all
other factors related to this hotel, that seems like such a minor thing to point
out. The hotel is right on the SkyTrain metro line & is part of the Metropolis
Mall complex (largest mall in the Vancouver area). Having said that, though, we
could not hear anything related to transit, traffic, or people coming & going to
the mall, while inside the hotel or our room. There was a nice fitness centre
(not large, but good enough), and an outdoor heated pool. There are several
restaurants right close to the hotel (inside & outside of mall spaces). Picking
the Holiday Inn Express Burnaby was a great choice for us!

The Burnaby Holiday Inn Express is a little bit hard to find as it sits back
away from the main road Kingsway or route 99. After finding the hotel everything
is just right. You park underneath the hotel in a well lite parking garage for
free. The front desk is professional and quick to get you signed in and on your
way.
The king bed room I was given on the 6th floor was clean, quiet and just right
for my business travel visit. The wireless internet allowed me quick access to
my VPN connection and other internet services that I needed during my stay.
The hotel is part of a shopping mall, with easy walking access to shops and a
wide variety of dining options. Across the street from the hotel is rapid rail
transportation downtown. Exploring Downtown Vancouver is much easier with the
worries of where to put the car. Using the train is easy and safe.

When I come to Vancouver I love to shop and this is one of the best hotels to
crave my shopping weekends. It is located right next to Metrotown connected by a
walkway to over 500 stores, you may find it difficult staying in your room.
Vancouver is only 15 minutes away by Skytrain, which will whisk you into the
city for easy access to downtown Vancouver’s shopping malls. The Holiday Inn
Express air-conditioned rooms come with great views and I like to wake up in the
morning to their Express Fresh Start breakfast and get energized before you
hitting the shops. The Hotel has a fitness centre, and Cafe / bar but my time
runs out before I ever used them.

Stayed at this hotel due to it's location right beside the great Metrotown Mall
in Burnaby BC. The parking is secure at night, the room though small was very
well set up for 1 person and very clean. The bed was "to die for", just snuggled
in. Enjoyed the included continental breakfast. I felt the room rate was very
reasonable for Vancouver. As a lone female traveler, my car and I felt very
safe. It was easy to get to from my home in the BC interior. Transit system is
right there if needed for skytrain or the bus. Will stay again next time I am in
the Vancouver area if I get the same great rate.

Hotel was extremely clean, Staff were friendly and parking was ample. The room
was comfortable, Flat Screen was nice and beds were pretty nice too.
Free Breakfast was okay...offered some decent choices.
Hotel is semi-attached to Metrotown, so after a long day (if you're on a work
trip like I was)...you can eat and walk around the mall for a couple of hours.
My only complaint was the Wireless Internet...Slow Slow Slow.

I stay in Holiday Inn Express Metrotown for two weeks. When we reached, it did
not take us long to check into the hotels, especially after such a long flight
from Singapore. We also decided to extend our stay and when enquiring if there
were rooms available the next week, it was all full. However, the staff told us
that they will try their best to give us a room to stay and if not, they will
book a room for us in Hilton, which was nearby, at the same rate. 2 days before
the extension, we got a room and could stick to the same room too! The location
of this hotel was good because it is opposite the sky train, and it took only
about 10 minutes to get to downtown Vancouver. They just renovated the hotel and
therefore the facilities were good enough for anyone who do not want to spend
too much for a long stay in Vancouver. The hotel also recommends places to eat
nearby which are reasonably priced and tasted good too! The staff were friendly
and attended to every need. I will definitely recommend my friends and anyone
else to choose this hotel if they are looking for accommodation in Vancouver.

A lot of positives re. this hotel and a few negatives.
Firstly it is in a great location, close to Skytrain and shopping. The hotel
itself is well maintained thoughout and check in and out easy. The breakfasts
were good with decent space to get a seat. The outdoor swimming pool was good
and clean.
However, two very basic complaints. Like a previous poster stated the quality of
the breakfast cutlery was by far the poorest I have come across in chain hotels.
The other complaint is the poor equipment in teh fitness suite which is well
below average.

Great Hotel Location close to SkyTrain. We booked as we have stayed in Holiday Inn
Express in various UK Hotel Locations for a number of years. Basically, you know what
to expect and Metrotown HIE similar to rest. Where it let itself down was in the
breakfast buffet, which was fine foodwise........ but PLASTIC CUTLERY. No
excuse, all HIE's in UK have stainless steel cutlery as standard. May seem a
petty complaint but in this day and age you expect better. On the whole the
hotel is fine, clean, well located and relatively quiet.

I booked this hotel due to its Hotel Location as I was on business in neighboring
Coquitlam, and staying in downtown Vancouver was looking a bit too pricey. On
previous trips to the area I had stayed in Langley and the traffic was such a
killer that I wanted something closer.
I stayed at this hotel for two weeks. Some areas are in need of renovations, but
overall it was neat and clean. The staff was friendly enough. Standard fare for
breakfast. Free wireless internet in the room, only once was I unable to get
connected. Ample free parking in underground garage beneath the hotel. The
workout room is small with old-ish cardio equipment: one treadmill, one
elliptical, one bike, and a stack of free weights.
My room was a bit odd as I was given a handicapped-accessible room, so the room
itself was bigger than normal, but everything was built for someone whose eye
level is four feet off the ground. Not bad, just odd. The bathroom had a very
small vanity but the nice big showerhead that all the HIE's have nowadays.
Only one annoying experience during my stay, in which the fire alarm began going
off around 10:30pm. At first the front desk said it was a false alarm, but the
siren continued to go off. Apparently the fire alarm system in the hotel is
attached to the Metrotown mall next door, so the hotel itself has no ability to
shut off or reset the alarm. The saga ended with just about every guest in the
hotel standing around the lobby because the elevators were locked out and the
front desk staff had no idea where the keys to the stairwell were located.
(Stairs apparently for emergency-use only; good thing this wasn't a "real"
emergency.) Eventually we all got back to our rooms but the whole thing was a
disorganized mess.
As a female traveling solo, I felt alright staying here. Being that Metrotown is
right next door, the immediate area is full of dining choices and downtown is a
short drive or SkyTrain ride away. |
