We stayed here Oct and thought the location of this hotel is what sets it apart
from other hotels in downtown Vancouver.
LOCATION: Downtown Vancouver, over looking the harbour & Stanley Park. Easy
access to the "Canada Line" and transit, Gastown, Stanley Park and Robson
Street. There are beautiful walkways along the harbour with places to stop for
coffee, lunch, a drink or simply to sit on a bench & enjoy the view. It's
attached to the Convention Centre and cruise ship dock as well. About 25 minutes
via taxi from the airport or you can take the Canada Line train. You enter the
hotel on street level but take either the escalator or elevator up 2 floors to
the check in area.
ROOM: We asked for one with a view of Stanley Park and the harbour-we weren't
disappointed. The room itself was slightly dated with older carpeting and the
shower/tub should be updated. The king size bed was very comfortable and had
crisp, clean linens. There was a nice lounge chair that faced the large windows
overlooking the harbour. Also handy to have an in room safe, umbrella, fully
stocked mini bar with snacks and a 40 inch HD flat screen television with all
the channels & movies you could want. Very good toiletries were provided and
there is a handy make up mirror as well. Note that when you check in they offer
you a "complimentary newspaper", which is the Globe & Mail. When you look at the
holder for your room keys, it actually says if you decline the newspaper, the
cost per day will be deducted from your bill. You also receive an actual key
instead of card access. Therefore, anyone can access the room floors via the
elevators and I did notice signs posted saying "no view" at the elevator area.
DINING: For breakfast we simply walked over to the food court (connected to the
hotel underground) which has a vast array of dining options (including Tim
Horton's for coffee). There is a restaurant open for breakfast in the hotel if
you prefer or order room service. We chose to eat dinner away from the hotel as
well, but there is a beautiful dining option at Sails. In the lounge we sat and
enjoyed coffee & drinks while listening to the entertainment of piano and
singing. It was fabulous, with large windows overlooking the habour lit up at
night.
FITNESS/SPA: We finally located the fitness centre, which is in the parkade. The
equipment was newer and the facility wasn't busy when we checked it out (your
room key is required to enter). The spa was fantastic and very busy. They offer
every service imaginable-we had a couples massage & were given 10% off with our
stay. We also enjoyed the outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi. There is an area with
fresh towels to use and tables & chairs around the pool....again, great views.
SERVICE/SHOPS: Checking in and out was a breeze. We found the front desk staff
helpful in providing maps and ideas of where to eat outside of the hotel. Our
room was cleaned to our satisfaction. Service in the lounge was attentive and
prompt. There are several shops for gifts and necessities as well.
Overall we were very pleased with the Pan Pacific Hotel and would definitely
stay here again.

Good & helpful welcomes from this 500+ room hotel next to convention centre.
Good location as wonderful views if high enough, but a little out of downtown
for walking/shopping.
Room excellent. Buffet breakfast included in rate excellent. Nice lunch in
lounge overlooking harbour, but not cheap!
National car rental in foyer/garage!
Against:
NO free Wi-FI (remarkable for a business hotel!
Parking very expensive $30+ overnight

Nothing to be impressed with here except the view, which is excellent.
Would not return unless I was on a business trip and didn't care about luxury or
I wanted to be close to the dock where the cruise ships board..
Indifferent concierges, mediocre food, so-so bedding, small/chopped up rooms
even in the suites.
Yes it is clean, that's about the best thing for this sprawling corporate hotel.

The Pan Pacific in Vancouver is one of my favorite places to stay. The lobby and
lounge area have a great view of the Lion's Gate Bridge, Stanley park and the
water. The staff is friendly and professional and the food is great. While
sitting in the lounge I caught part of their Italian Opera and Buffet night,
talk about fine dining and entertainment!

I was excited to see the hotel. It wasn't quite what I suspected but it didn't
disappoint. I was taking my mother on a cruise and decided on this location
because you can board the ship from the hotel. Since she has trouble walking
this was important. The food was great at the restaurants also. My mother and I
both agree that the hamburgers we ordered on the patio were some of the best
we've ever had. The staff was also very helpful. I would stay here again.

Because of its location, comfort, hospitality and spirit I would highly
recommend this Vancouver hotel. I spent four nights here and was so pleased with
the entire situation that, at times, I didn’t even want to go out exploring.
My first room, booked through
www.allure-hotels.com , looked across the street to the rising towers of
Vancouver. Overlooked the panorama of the inner harbor with its constant flow of
float planes, cruise ships, tankers, tour boats, tugs and yachts. Add to this
the cities on the distant shore, the backdrop of forested mountains, and an
expansive sky animated by changing light and weather, and it became easy to
linger at the window and just watch. What previous reviewers have said - opt for
the even numbered inner harbour rooms - is correct: It is very worth the added
expense.
The hotel’s location also turned out to be important for other reasons. It is
steps from the Waterfront Terminal which launches Sky Train, city buses and the
little Seabus, a ferry that crosses the harbor to Lonsdale all day long.
Skytrain’s brand new Canada Line brings visitors right to this terminal from the
airport. Between the hotel and terminal you will find an underground food court
for inexpensive meals. Canada Place and Imax share the hotel complex. Across the
street is Vancouver’s visitor’s center. Guests walk the promenade along the
landscaped shoreline to Coal Harbour where they can board a luncheon or dinner
cruise. (Loved it!) One reviewer commented that the Pan Pacific has no soul.
Actually, I think the Pan Pacific might have BECOME a part of the greater city’s
soul.
In terms of the accommodations, I was totally satisfied. Both rooms were lovely,
quiet, clean and up-to-date. Linens: soft and white. Bathroom: marble and gold,
with abundant hot water and fine bath products. Desk: generous. Thermostat:
responsive. Privacy: complete.
The staff morale seems uniformly high: Everyone I met appeared to be proud of
the hotel and genuinely pleased to assist their guests. The concierge team, for
example, was consistently willing to dig deep for details and quickly report
back by phone and letter delivered to the room. All transactions in the lobby
were smooth and friendly with no waiting, even when the large cruise ships had
arrived in port. Restaurants were good, and on three evenings, as the day dimmed
and the harbor lights began to glitter. I found every reason to dine in.
Of course, its superb view and location are what make this a special property,
but the comfort of the accommodations and the warmth of those at work in the
lobby and restaurants (not to mention housekeeping) perfected my visit to
Vancouver. What I experienced was a hotel in a five-star location that offers
five-star hospitality without a single sign of burnout, arrogance, or
exclusivity. In fact, there was a detectable level of positive energy among
staff and guests alike. Other travelers I met expressed similar delight with
their stay. Having sampled it, they would simply never chose any other hotel in
the city of Vancouver.

Stayed at the Pan Pacific at the end of August for 3 days before our cruise and
was very satisfied. Arrived from the East coast at 10:30AM and even though
check-in was not until 3 we thought we would give it a try. Very professional
and pleasant front desk staff apologized that our room was not yet ready and
that we could leave our luggage with them and go out, or we could upgrade to a
concierge floor room that was ready on the top floor facing the harbor for $75
more per person total. For that additional charge we would receive complimentary
internet, a private concierge staffed lounge with soft drinks, tea, coffee,
breakfast in the lounge with wonderful fruits, pastries, breads, hot and cold
dishes as well as afternoon snacks and evening appetizers which were first rate.
This was in the end a bargain because we took full advantage of the amenities.
The room itself had a great view of the harbor including Stanley Park, the sea
planes coming and going and of course the cruise ships. We did not have a
problem with outside noise at all, which some previous reviewers mentioned. They
even provide you with a great pair of binoculars for you to enjoy. The bed was
one of the most comfortable beds my wife and I have slept on in a hotel. The
bathroom was very nice with marble everywhere and plenty of room.
All of the staff that we came in contact with were very professional as one
would expect from a 5star hotel. The construction that people are talking about
was barely noticed and had no effect at all on the quality of our stay.
The cruise ships for Princess and Holland America dock right at the hotel and
are very convenient for their passengers. We were on the Royal Caribbean ship
which leaves from a pier that is a 5 min. cab ride. There are no hotels near the
Royal Caribbean docks and the area is industrial.
This hotel offers the benefit of being within walking distance to so much that
we cancelled our rental car and enjoyed the beautiful sunny and warm days
walking around.
Shop around for the room price, often there are specials or packages, we would
stay here again.

I have to agree with the previous review, the rooms were excellent, clean and
tidy and have great views, Large LCD TV, with loads of channels, lovely big
bathroom, but we only spent our time in our rooms, we did not spend any time in
the hotel, the food and drink was so expensive, we didn't go anywhere near the
bar or restaurant. there was also a lot of work going on in the hotel, which did
not help for the overall feel of the hotel, We went on an Alaskan cruise, and
the hotel location for this was excellent, it was also very near to Chinatown,
Gastown, and Robson St for shopping and all the tour buses stopped right
outside, also from the hotel, there is a nice waterfront walk around the harbour
to Stanley Park. Also worth mentioning is that you are connected from the hotel
to the food court across the road, we had breakfast in there every morning at
the Pita Express, very nice friendly guy called, Alberto, food cooked fresh, no
microwave, reasonable prices, and he opens at 5:30am if you are suffering from
the time diff from th UK.

It's a struggle to fairly review the Pan Pacific. On the one hand it ticks all
the boxes you'd expect from a 5* hotel, but on the other, it feels souless, even
compared with other luxury chain hotels.
Staff were efficient and friendly, the room was clean, comfortable and had a
great view, and all ammenities were as you'd expect from a hotel of its class.
The trouble is, I'm finding it difficult to actually remember much about the
hotel, beyond the views over the harbour to the North Shore of Vancouver, and
that's the problem.
The Pan Pacific is undoubtedly great for visitors using the adjacent conference
centre and for business travellers, but needs to do something to differentiate
itself before it can be completely recommended.

My husband and I stayed for one night at the Pan Pacific before embarking on an
Alaskan cruise with Holland America. The main reason I chose this hotel was that
it was connected to Canada Place Pier where our ship was to be docked.
Everything from the moment we approached the reception desk to the moment we
checked out of our room was as close as you can get to perfect. We had booked a
King city-view room and we were upgraded to a Bay Suite Harbour View at no
charge. This suite was immaculate and filled with every imaginable amenity
including bottled water and cookies. The view was of the harbour and our cruise
ship was right below our windows the next morning. We ordered room service for
breakfast which was delicious and served on time. We requested late check out
(2pm) as we had checked in so late the night before and the front desk was very
accommodating. We used the hotel baggage service for cruisers and our luggage
was picked up right on time and brought directly to our ship. When checking out
I asked if the hotel had any postcards and was given a very nice one! We are
planning another trip to Vancouver and will definitely stay here again. Note:
There is a bit of remodelling going on in the entryway area but in no way did
this take away from our over all experience.

We stayed here for 2 nights to check out Vancouver before travelling up to
Whistler. The hotel is very large and when we were there the occupancy was low.
We got an upgrade on arrival to a bay view, this was much appreciated, however,
the whole of Vancouver was covered in the thickest fog imaginable and the view
was the same as having a frosted bathroom window. The weather was due to a so
called inversion, Google it!
The room was large and clean with a large bathroom. Breakfast was adequate
(which means it was four months ago and I can't remember).
It's difficult to recommend things to see in Vancouver because the fog was so
thick; we did go up the view tower which would be amazing on clear days
(although looking down on fog did look spectacular). Our friend Sarah, who lives
in Vancouver, took us to a great seafood/chop house called Jo Fortes, Sarah has
a unique knack of being able to coax me to eat things I wouldn't normally touch,
last year it was Sushi, this year in Jo Fortes it was Oysters. Yuk on both
occasions but looking forward to the next dare! Also check out the steam clock,
if like us you search for something you think will look like Big Ben good luck
lol
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the hotel to anybody
visiting Vancouver. We got an excellent deal with British Airways when booking
the hotel with flights, it was honestly the same as getting a 2 for 1 deal
compared with the hotel's website and other leading online agents. Have fun!
