First off, the location cannot be beat! steps to Robson/Granville, Less than 5
minute walk to train station, The train goes straight from the airport to
Vancouver city centre in 25 min.
Being that this hotel is right smack downtown, it's right in the middle of one
of the most walkable cities in North America. Walk to Davie st, walk to English
bay, walk to coal harbour, walk to Gastown, walk to Chinatown. (whew!)
We scored a 19th floor room with an absolutely amazing view of downtown
Vancouver, the mountains and the water. The floor to ceiling windows are
stunning, and everything else is simply wonderful. We had perfect sleeps both
nights on one of the most comfortable beds ever..
The only gripes I had were:
Th key cards are needed to activate the elevator. Both of our cards stopped
working, so we needed to to the front desk to fix them. That leads me to my
second gripe:
There needs to be more than one person at the front desk! It took us 10 minutes
of waiting, just to fix the cards.
This is a hotel with 30 + floors, 10-15 rooms/floor, so at least 450 rooms.
Having at least two people at all times should be mandatory. Check in/check out
was so nauseating, having to wait in line for 25 min during check in (due to
only 1 person being there.)
Overall, this hotel is great. Would I go back? Probably not, just because there
are so many amazing hotels in Vancouver. This city is truly world class, and
there are so many 4-5 star properties to try out.
It's definitely in my top 3 though!

Friday I dropped my car off with the valet parking at the hotel. Sat when I
picked up my car it had a large dint on the door. Of course they said they had
no reason to believe that the staff did the damage. If it is parked in the care
and control of the hotel then they should have some responsibility. NO WAY WILL
THEY LOOK AFTER THE PROBLEM. FOR THE COST OF 41.00 IT IS UP TO THE GODS.
If you are after good food do not eat at this hotel. Had the Sat brunch and the
food was old and cold nothing fresh. They had about 30 lb of scrambled eggs and
1 only of eggs benni on the whole line. Many of the other items had been picked
over and not replenished. Went across the street to Beyond at the Century Plaza
for dinner what a treat that was!!!

We stayed here one night in December as we had a Christmas function in downtown
Vancouver, and we wanted to stay someplace we hadn't stayed that was 'nice'.
Given that it was fairly new, we thought it would be pretty nice.
My first impression was that it felt like an office building, and walking to the
front desk felt like walking into the lobby of an office building. It didn't
feel like a hotel at all, but for the valet parking. Even more surprisingly, it
was filled with kids....not something you'd expect in a nicer downtown hotel.
Reception explained that there was some sort of function going on and that our
room had accidentally been given over to the group, so we were sent to the other
tower and a room upgrade - good start!
Our room was on the 25th floor and therefore had an amazing view of downtown.
The furniture looked a little dated for the hotel's age though. The bathroom was
very nice, similar quality to the Four Seasons where I stay a lot. Our bedroom
was a small separate room that was filled almost entirely by the king sized bed,
but it was very very comfortable and the one wall was floor to ceiling windows
with a great view to wake up to in the morning. Our room upgrade included free
breakfast, buffet style in a nice private area/room (hard to describe) that had
two floors, more great views, and decent food and coffee. There were tvs and
couches in there, it was like a private lounge, very nice.
Location wasn't bad, have to walk a few blocks to get to the major points of
interest, but still fairly central. I'm still little surprised about the
blandness of the decor on the whole, but we had a comfortable stay our needs
were met. I'd stay again, but for the price I'd rather go to the Four Seasons.

The rooms are very plain, certainly not up to the price. Restaurant is very
small with lineups for breakfast. Not great menu choices either, and the
breakfast buffet is grossly overpriced

We stayed here with our two boys during the Olympics. Our room was in the north
tower which I think is much nicer/newer than the other side - literally two
separate structures. Our room was large, stocked with plenty of products, had a
great view, and we never heard a peep from neighboring rooms. It was
outrageously priced, but that's probably not the hotel's fault - the Olympics
ticket broker set the rates. Beds were comfortable, water pressure in the shower
was good, the free breakfast was plentiful and good, and the boys loved the
pool. Within walking distance to Robson Square, BC Place, and other spots. But
cabs are also reasonably priced and the cab drivers we had were all friendly.
Canada is just a friendlier place than the US, I think!

We travelled for a business conference and were thrilled with the location. Very
close to Robson and Granville Sts, museums and great restaurants-everything was
well within walking distance. Magnificent views from the rooms which were quite
comfortable with their signature 'heavenly bed'. Service was excellent would
definitely stay there again.

This is one of the most outdated Sheraton's in the company. Room furniture is
just very old. I had bright red leather chairs that didn't go with anything else
at all. They were just random very old chairs to fill space. The common areas
are dram. Nothing special.
The staff is nice, but not enough to recommending staying at this hotel for any
reason when there are plenty o other choices. |
