I stayed at the Sutton Place for 3 nights when attending a conference at the
nearby Sheraton Wall Center.
This is a really god option to stay the Hotel is a 5 star but you paid a
reasonable price and it deserves all the money you spend: comfortable and cozy
rooms, high standards of quality in service. Excellent location in downtown
Vancouver with all nice spots around. Try the Crocodile a French restaurant just
beside the Hotel and the Market Place to buy fruit and yogurt for breakfast or
for a light meal.
Excellent option!!!

We stayed in the Sutton Place residence for 4 days and really enjoyed it,
although I would not give it 5 stars but 4 1/2. The people at the reception were
very nice, even if we reserved on Hotwire (and got a great deal).
The location is perfect, at the corner of Robson with stores and restaurants
open late.
We had a one bedroom apartment and the size was just perfect for 3 people. We
had a kitchen with a fridge, a microwave, a range, a toaster, a coffee machine,
and a dishwashing machine. Plus dishes, glasses, pots and pan, coffee,
dishwashing liquid... The only thing missing is the food and there's a grocery
store (IGA) on the other side of the street! We only used the kitchen for
breakfast but you could cook entire meals if you wished to.
There is a table with 4 chairs in one corner of the living room plus a sofa bed
and a big chair and a HUGE flat screen TV and a DVD player, plus a desk. The
bedroom also has a (small) flat screen TV and a DVD player. We had a
complimentary newspaper every morning and the housekeepers were very nice, even
starting the dishwasher when most of the dished were soiled.
I only have a few negative comments: The (King) bed was not very confortable,
the temperature at the pool and in the corridors was very cold and access to
Internet is expensive . Speaking of Internet, make sure that your antivirus is
up to date as there was almost 900 intruder attempts when we were connected to
the hotel network...
I would go back to the Sutton Place without any hesitation.

We stayed at Sutton Place for one day following an Alaskan cruise. We had never
been in Vancouver before and were excited to spend a day in the city. Sutton
Place came highly recommended and did not disappoint.
We took a taxi over very early in the morning and were greeted warmly. They took
our luggage, provided us with maps and recommendations for the day, and told us
that our room would be ready early afternoon. We bought a day pass on one of the
hop-on-hop-off busses and took off.
After spending a few hours at Granville Island and then lunch in Stanley Park we
went back to our lovely, comfortable room for a late afternoon nap before
dinner. After a refreshing nap, we simply walked out from our hotel and found a
fun, trendy restaurant for dinner - Cactus Club Cafe - within walking distance.
The room was not overly large but lovely and very comfortable. What really set
the place apart was the exquisite level of service. Every single employee we
dealt with went above and beyond our expectations in not only meeting our needs,
but doing so in a friendly, helpful, professional way. Taxi's were readily
available when we, sadly, had to leave for a 6 a.m. flight the next morning

This hotels location is fantastic for seeing shows or shopping in Vancouver. The
service was excellent and friendly. Hotel room was very clean and offered a
great view of the city. However the mattress was about the most uncomfortable I
have ever slept on. I expect a high quality bed and bedding when staying in a 5
star hotel, (even the Raddison has sleep number beds) As with other reviews I
agree that this was a bit of a stretch on the 5 star rating. If the bed was
better I would not hesitate to rate it a high 4. Parking is very expensive but
parking anywhere in downtown Vancouver is. Would stay here again if the price
was right.

Hotel is in a great location one block away from Robson Street. There are many
cafes as well as many places to eat and shop. The hotel room is very clean and
lobby is immaculate. Staff can be overly friendly bordering on being
ingratiating ~ take it as that. The people frequenting the hotel appear to be
older with money. I felt a little under dressed with my jeans in the lobby ~
probably because I am American. The chocolate buffet is to die for. It is a must
try and experience for the chocoholic for $27CAD. The one thing I did not like
was the $30CAD a day for parking, even for self-park. But, you stay at an
upscale place there are costs.

Location, ambiance, professional, friendly service. Slow check out. Required
more staff on reception. Sutton place Vancouver is an elegant and refined hotel
in a great location. Staff is most professional, yet friendly. Rooms are
spacious and well equipped. Bathrooms are great. Views are excellent. I would
definitely return in a heartbeat.

First of all I really dont know how any one can bash this place like a number of
people have on this site. If they can find a better hotel, they are welcom to
it!!! This is an excellent hotel, with great, classic style rooms. Service was
first rate and the dining room for breakfast was first class all the way.
Situated in an excellent area of Downtown Vancouver which is accessable to most
great restaurants, shopping, etc, etc. I cant wait to stay here again. the
fitness room was a little cramped, but that is a minor issue here.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The rooms were clean, spacious and
provided a great view of downtown Vancouver. The staff were all very courteous
and incredibly helpful. The beds were comfortable, although I can't say I liked
the fabric that they used on the comforters. The water pressure was also
slightly lacking in the showers, but this was only a minor inconvenience
considering how great the rest of my experience was. Prices are a little steep
on the minibar, room service, etc., but this is no surprise considering that
it's a 5-star hotel. The restaurant and bar downstairs are an added bonus, as is
the currency exchange service offered at the front desk. Overall, I would rate
my experience as a 9.5 out of 10.

I'm not quite sure why this is a five star hotel, versus some of the other good
hotels in Vancouver, unless it is the friendly service. From the valet's
greeting to a cheerful desk clerk who gave us a very early check in to the
helpful concierge, everyone was happy to help out.
The room was very clean, quiet and well appointed. The wifi (not free) worked
well in the room and in the business center. The hotel is a bit farther from the
waterfront than we expected.
For the price we paid through Hotwire, this was a very good bargain. It goes on
the "recommend" list.
Oh, and don't pass up the bakery on the ground floor. Killer sweets.

Sutton Place sits at a great spot on Burrard, a block off Robson, with nice
amenities nearby. But unless you can get a significant discount, I wouldn't
recommend it. Rack rate at my stay was more than 300 a night; got it discounted
at 173 online. But at this hotel, like many others in downtown Van, you can add
to that as much as 75 bucks in other fees (taxes, plus $30 a day for parking,
plus $16 a day for very unreliable wi-fi access.) Rooms are pleasant and clean,
but very cramped, and the entire hotel, with its tiny lobby, feels a bit
claustrophobic.
Pleasant staff was very helpful with early check-in and bag stowage. But
overall, given the normal rates here, I wouldn't recommend the hotel. For 300 a
night, you expect, and can get, much more in Vancouver.
Note: When I lodged a complaint about the pricey wifi access and other costs,
and told the front-desk person they would make me strongly wary about staying
here again, she smiled and said: "That's OK!"
Interesting customer-service philosophy there.

Stayed here for 3 nights prior to Alaska cruise after travelling around Canada
for 3 weeks. Thought we would treat ourselves to some luxury and boy we weren't
disappointed. Everything about this hotel was top notch and ive travelled all
over the world. What made it really good was the attitude of all the staff who
could not have done more for you.
Even when we returned from the cruise a week later they looked after all our
luggage for the whole day prior to our evening flight back to the uk. Free of
charge. The rooms were spacious and charming.
We did not eat at the hotel because the location is spot on for Robson street
shopping and dining. There are loads of great trendy bars within a five to ten
minute walk., and the Canadian people are just so friendly. I have a house in
Florida and obviously like the states but the Canadians are even more friendly.
I will definitely stay there again

We were on our way to a cruise and stayed for 2 nights. We chose this hotel
because of www.Allure-Hotels.com
reviews and booked far in advance, opting to pay more for this property than was
available close by. The location is great; walking distance to shopping, etc. We
were originally booked in the Residences with a kitchen. Not 5 star, but nicely
appointed. When we got there, we were told that the electric and air
conditioning was to be turned off at 9am on the next day in the Grand residences
to fix a problem; They had known about this for a while, but chose not to notify
guests until they checked in and had been charged the non cancellable first
night fee. I was astounded that the hotel thought that it was acceptable and not
a big deal because, we were checking out and it was only a 3 hour inconvenience.
on a work day. After having to get the general manager on the phone, they agreed
to move us to a suite in the hotel part of the property, but we lost the kitchen
facilities and the groceries that I had bought. I heard other guests grumble as
well. They got the same attitude from the front desk staff. The concierge sent
us the wrong direction twice to find restaurants even though we repeated back
his directions to him. Should you stay here? If you get it at the right price;
just remember you may have to go the extra steps to get what you paid for.

After a middling stay at another hotel in town, were looking forward to a "real"
hotel. The Sutton Place hotel is full-service; while our stay was not perfect
(nothing ever is in life), the professional staff helped make our stay really
great. The front desk staff and bell staff were great at check-in; the
housekeeping staff quickly brought extra towels and found a rollaway bed late at
night. Great recommendations from Miguel the concierge who was just fantastic.
Rooms are very comfortable albeit not to my personal taste, and could use a
refurbish. Furniture is vaguely French Provincial and colors are pleasing; beds
were very comfortable as were the bathrobes. Bathroom was clean with lots of
marble and a good selection of Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. Nice pool,
sundeck, and changing rooms with steam room. The fitness center had a very
complete range of equipment. All in all I would definitely come back here just
for the level of service we received.

We ended up staying here for three nights . It was perfectly nice and the staff
were very friendly and helpful. Great location. We were glad we didn't pay full
price though; if you're looking for super luxury or a very special experience I
don't think this is the right place. If you can get a room at a good price, it's
a very good choice and I'd recommend it. Vancouver is a fabulous city and this
made a great base for exploring. Parking is expensive but probably comparable to
other hotels in the area.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our trip to Canada and were not
disappointed. The location is great, right in the middle of downtown and as
Vancouver is a relatively small city it was great for walking around or handy
for getting buses if you are tired or its raining (again!). When we booked this
hotel, we were surprised at how expensive hotels in this city are and how there
doesn't seem to be many budget options. This hotel was much cheaper than others
so I was afraid it would be a bit of a dive but in fact it was the opposite.
This is a beautiful and elegant hotel, our bedroom was extremely spacious, well
maintained and beautifully decorated. I loved the fact that it was in the middle
of the city but that noise wasn't an issue. Would definitely stay here again.

Don't be put off by the rather plain exterior - the staff and the rooms more
than make up for it. The Bell Boy could not have done more for us and the suite
of rooms were really brilliant for my family of 5. We had our own kitchenette so
we didn't have to eat in but there is a really great supermarket right next
door. We simply couldn't fault the hotel and would definitely return.

We have stayed at the Sutton on a few times over the past number of years. We
made our reservations through Hotwire but don't know if we got any better deal
than dealing directly with the hotel. As we were in Vancouver for a week we had
one of their 1 bedroom apartments, furnished with kitchen and all the equipment
necessary. There is an IGA next door to the hotel that made shopping for meals
quick. The hotel is in an excellent location in the center of the down town so
walking is easy. The hotel is the only 5 star in Vancouver that I know about and
lives up to its rating.

Stayed here for 5 nights following a cruise and can agree with most other
reviews. Its location is perfect for shops/bar/restaurants - great pub opposite
-The Winking Judge. Robson Street just around the corner - not too far to walk
even down to the waterfront but it's uphill coming back. My only gripe was the
buffet breakfast which we tried one morning - $23 each I seem to recall and not
worth it when you consider what's available within 100 yards. We stayed in Le
Grand Residence in an enormous luxury suite on the 16th floor - seating for 8
round the dining table - even had a balcony. Some folk might be disturbed by the
sirens - the hotel is close to the hospital and fire station - but they didn't
bother us. Very helpful on reception etc.

We enjoyed the stay but were a bit disappointed. The rooms were becoming worn
and dated. The lobby area was beautiful and staff extremely helpful. The hotel
appeared to cater to the incoming cruise ship customers. The location, however,
makes up for any shortcomings.

We stayed at the Sutton towards the end of our holiday and only had two days in
Vancouver, so the location of the hotel was perfect. We ate in the restaurant on
our first night - expensive but delicious - and the service was impeccable, both
there and in the bar. Our room, on the 7th floor, was adequate (nothing special)
and the bed comfortable, which just about made up for the less-than-inspiring
view! Another bugbear was the cost of parking ($30 per night - gulp!) as we
weren't actually told how much it would be until we checked out.
The Sutton has a very attractive lobby area with checking in/out quick and
efficient, and the staff with whom we had contact were warm and friendly. On
balance, I think we would stay here again, although definitely not at the full
price, and we were grateful not to need the umbrella provided - the weather was
glorious!

Great location one block from most downtown dining and shopping. Lovely common
areas and rooms. Very nice restaurant and health club. Modern French style
decor. Great service and well staffed. Seems very popular with high end business
travelers.
The package including breakfast and parking is a good value, as breakfast runs
$10-25/person and parking is $36/day valet.

When the immigration officer at the airport asked me where I was staying and I
told him the Sutton Place Hotel, he seemed impressed. So I thought this would be
a very nice hotel. When we arrived by taxi ($25 ride), the building looked
plain. The lobby was nice and the staff seemed professional enough.
But the room looked tired. There were dents and markings all over the furniture.
This was obviously an upscale hotel that is now discounted because it needs a
renovation. The furnishings were maybe Victorian style, I'm not sure. But it
just looked kinda old to me. The heating was old-fashioned and made quite a bit
of noise.
Breakfast at the restaurant attached to the hotel was about $30 per person. The
restaurant looked quite elegant, but it was also mostly empty. We did not eat
there. Denny's across the street was about $10 per person, so I guess Vancouver
is just plain expensive.
SUMMARY: The hotel is in a pretty good location near the shops and stuff, but I
think there are probably better places to stay in Vancouver. Honestly, I would
give this place three and a half stars. So it's alright, if you get a good deal.
LOCAL RECOMMENDATION: If you like great seafood and piano music, go to Joe
Forte's a few blocks away. This is a very nice North American-style seafood
restaurant with bar. The staff are very professional and the food is excellent.

The location of this hotel is perfect, and we had a wonderful stay, so I am
loathe to agree with others, that this is no more than a 4 star hotel. It does,
however, have more than a handful of 5 star employees, amongst whom I would
particularly include all the doormen the concierges, the pool attendants and the
waiting staff in the Grill Bar.
We had one of the rooms on the 14 th floor overlooking the fire station, but we
must have been too tired to be bothered by them. I suspect the noise as they
left the station was far less than when they rounded the corner because no-one
can mistake the noise of a fire engine crossing any intersection, and I only
remember the initial sirens.
We had a standard King room, which was spacious enough, but friends in a Twin
thought their room was cramped. We had a separate bath and shower in a pleasant,
clean bathroom.
My only small complaint is that housekeeping were not very good at replenishment
(of tea/coffee) and our room attendant did not seem to understand the hotels Eco
policy on laundry saving . Despite our best efforts, she continued to replace
all the towels every day. Sometimes the clean cups were returned very late in
the afternoon. This is better than a quick wipe with a duster, but a shame if
you fancy a cuppa mid afternoon.
The hotel has a handy little coffee shop and general kiosk type shop in the
hotel lobby, but also has a wonderful little take away bakery just steps from
the main entrance and run by immaculately dressed ladies. There are a few tables
outside, but it is situated right at the bus stop on the busy main road and
might not appeal to everyone, but use it as a take-away.
We had good food, albeit limited choice, in the Grill Bar but did not eat in the
restaurant, because there was often no-one else there, and it lacked atmosphere.
There are however so many lovely restaurants in, particularly ,Robson and
Alberni Streets, at budgets and styles to suit everyone, that it is difficult to
choose a favorite. We tried a lot of them!
The swimming pool amenities have a strange layout - a room card is used to
access the changing facilities then there is a walk down a back stair way for a
couple of flights to reach the pool deck. Several people missed the changing
rooms and changed in the nearest toilets. It says there is Disabled access but I
am not sure how. Towels were provided, both in the changing room and in the pool
area, and the staff replenished these very regularly, sometimes too eagerly.
Once my towel disappeared while I was in the steam room!
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody. It is run by a
friendly, courteous and efficient staff, has a brilliant location and obviously
aspires to 5 star status. The central reservation staff were also extremely
helpful, friendly and efficient.

This hotel is great. Walking distance to just about anything you'd want to do in
Vancouver with a very attentive front desk staff and prompt room service...And
the kind of beds and bedding you dream of dying in. My lover and I stole a
couple days here while he was working and soaked up Canadian sunshine (which in
May lasts til about 9:00pm) in our room with barely any reason at all to leave.
When we were looking for something specific, we simply called downstairs and the
staff member on the other end of the line would patiently and thoroughly walk us
through all of our options and direct us there with top notch hospitality. I
can't wait to come here again.

can to make it perfect.
-Location was great. Right on Robson street. Middle of the action.
-Their service was awesome. If you are visiting, their concierge service makes
it convenient. they have cards with driving directions to everything you would
want to do printed on it.
-rooms were nice and clean, spacious and the bathroom had a tub and shower.
I wanted a top notch experience and got it. they have an awesome indoor pool for

We booked three nights on Allure Hotels ($86USD/night) for our honeymoon. The
first room we were given was small and dated with a hard bed that sloped into
the center with a view of a run-down apartment building (room 1008). We
requested another room and were immediately moved to a larger room with feather
top mattress, large flat screen tv and a view of the city (room 2012). Staff is
very courteous and helpful. Hotel is close enough to walk to many destinations
and shopping. IGA market across the street is a great place to stop for snacks
and drinks. We usually stay at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver a block a way and for
the price difference, this was worth trying out. No visible recycling program
was an issue.
