We just got back from a two night stay at the Tropicana Vancouver. You
cannot beat the location of this hotel. Close to everything right on
Robson Street where you'd normally spend double the price on the fancy
hotels. Granted this is just a Motor Hotel, so it's not fancy. If you're
fussy, go spend double down the street. This is the kind of place to
stay if you want to feel like you are living in a city rather than just
a guest in a hotel. But who's in the room for that long?! Every unit has
a living room and separate bedroom. The mattress was comfortable. The
views are incredible, watching the sunset and the action on the street.
The staff are polite, and helpful. Parking is in the back for those that
drive, and the car will just stay there (safely) as you will not need to
drive.

Like other previous reviewers we really liked the location. Also the
staff in the lobby were very helpful and nice. Be aware that while you
get a beautiful view the sliding doors that open to the balconies can be
a little bit scary if you have young kids (we were on the 10th floor).
The hotel does not offer the breakfast, so if you are a family of 4
hungry people, that could become an additional expense, but the room has
a little kitchen, so you can prepare your own food. This is our third
time back to the Tropicana and it won't be the last!

Vancouver hotels are pretty expensive so compared to other hotels, the
price was good. This hotel definitely needs some work and updating - the
hallways and the pool in the basement are a little creepy and our room
had missing light fixtures and needed ceiling and door repairs but the
room was very clean and comfortable. We had a room with separate living
room with a great view, bedroom and kitchen. My daughter and I felt very
safe in the neighborhood and the location was perfect. The staff was
very friendly and helpful. If would rather spend your money on good food
and activities than on your hotel room, then this is a good place to
stay.

This was the best walking location in the area, just a short distance to
all sights in the area. Management and staff were very accommodating and
would certainly stay there again. Furniture could stand updating, we
called it "shappy shiek" , however the beds were very comfortable and
that's what really counts.

I have been to Vancouver, British Columbia, a few times. The City is a
very big city, and it is always better to stay at a place close and
convenient to travel around to places one needs to.
I was there once on a business trip, and hence wanted to stay at a hotel
close to the business district, and also close to the area where there
were nice restaurants for having lunches and dinners.
Searching for a suitable place, I decided to stay at the Tropicana Suite
Hotel, right in the downtown core.
That was a perfect choice. Tropicana Suite Hotel was located right in
the heart of the City within walking distances to the business centres
where I had my appointments to attend to. Many excellent restaurants and
shopping centres were also closeby.

I had a suite on a high level, with an astonishing view of the
waterfront and the beautiful mountains. The suite was beautifully
furnished, had a double bed, a large comfortably furnished living room,
and a kitchenette complete with the utensils.
The place had inhouse laundry facilities too where I was able to have my
laundry done one evening.
The place was a perfect “home away from home” place as they say for a
place complete with all the facilities needed and comfortable as your
home.
I enjoyed walking out to the restaurants nearby on the famous Robson
Street, many places of choice for Western and Asian cuisines. There were
many shops where one could look for personal and business needs too.
The famous Stanley Park, one of the most talked about parks in British
Columbia, was also within walking distance. I enjoyed taking a walk in
the park a couple of times, very scenic and enjoyable.
Tropicana Suites Hotel was an excellent place to stay for business
travellers like me and for holidays makers who would like to stay at a
home-like environment rather than at a exotic hotel.
The staff was very friendly and hospitable, making sure that the guests
were satisfied and comfortable. The front desk service was there 24
hours too.
I look forward to going back there again when I visit Vancouver again in
the future.
I would definitely recommend Tropicana Suites Hotel to my colleagues who
might be visiting Vancouver on their business trips and to friends
planning on their vacation trips to Vancouver in the near future.

Pros: Unbeatable location, all you need is within a walking distance. Staff is
very friendly and ready to assist . Nice suites: one bedroom and sofa-bed in the
living area, kitchen with utensils and fridge. Secured parking.

WOW. Right in the middle of everything, best price in downtown Vancouver. Free
parking. Sure, the building is a bit dated, and there is no wireless in the

I am not sure why this hotel is only #72 of 108. I loved staying there. The
lobby is very nice - clean and airy. The rooms are like little apartments, with
a kitchenette and living room. There is a fridge and microwave, so you can bring
home left overs from some of the great restaurants in the area, or buy fresh
bread and fruit from the market just down the street.
It is walking distance to Stanley Park, and what's even better, you can rent
bikes at a shop near the park and take in the whole park on bicycles. There is a
lot of sidewalk shopping just down the street, and a shopping mall about 6 or 7
blocks down.
My husband and I have stayed there twice, once just the two of us, and another
time with my baby and my mom. Both experiences were great. |
