Hidden Parking Fees, Bad Customer Service...seedy neighborhood but
convenient
Charged a parking fee that was not expected and ridiculous in terms of
cost. The TV was broken and notified the front desk... no solution and
no discount provided. Bad customer service... hidden fees ... just what
you don’t want . Seedy neighborhood, but central location in town.

Howard Johnson Hotel was amazing! The rooms were a bit small but very
clean. The customer service was also good. the location could not get
any better if you are looking to have a good time. As you walk out of
the hotel you are from steps of the best clubs and bars. Also if you are
looking forward to shopping, they have the best mall!! Hugo boss, gucci,
bebe, h&m..... I went with my boyfriend for our birthday and will
definitely return.! Amazing location! will be back

Great stay , after reading few reviews i was a little concerned that
there might be some noise from the BAR downstairs, stayed there 4 nights
and will say don't even worry about that, because it was quiet. Very
clean Hotel and friendly staff, best location , close to everything. The
bar downstairs was not bad either descent food and atmosphere, so i did
spend some time there as well, especially it was convenient. Only bad
thing that they don't provide breakfast with your stay from the hotel,
the price that you pay, can’t beat it . definitely will stay there
again. To me most important is clean place this one was. Easy choice,
and right one

The service at this HoJo location was friendly and awesome. My wife and
I were travelling with an 18 month year old boy and we had several
special requests, which they took care of without any problems. Also, I
left my cell phone charger in the room after we had checked out. I
emailed the super friendly general manager, Lucia, and she found the
charger and sent it back to me free of charge. The downtown location of
this hotel was centrally located and close to almost all of the sites
that we wished to see.

This is a great place to stay if you want somewhere central downtown in
Vancouver. It is really good value for money compared to anywhere else
in the Granville area and the bar downstairs (Wings) has a vibrant
atmosphere with friendly staff and brilliant food/bar offers. We had a
room facing away from the front which meant you couldn't hear any of the
noise late at night, but the walls are thin so beware noisy neighbours!
Amenities are of a good standard, rooms are small but cosy and decor is
decent. Free WiFi throughout the building. Only problem we had was a
leaky air conditioning unit which meant a wet patch on the carpet -
housekeeping helped as much as they could and the staff offered us a
room change but we were settled so left a towel on the floor for the
couple of days we were there! Also worth noting you need a room card to
access the lifts so very secure. Overall no frills room but clean and
comfortable which is all we needed - can't complain for such a good
price.

I was returning from Puerto Vallarta Mexico and needed a place because
of a late flight. I chose the Hojo because of it's cheap price right
after the Winter Olympics $69 per night plus tax. It is a 15 minute walk
down Granville from the downtown Canada Line exit or same from Yaletown
exit. It was 130 am when I checked in and the hotel was quiet. The bed
was good and coffee shops are right across the street. If you are in
Vancouver for the nightlife it would be a great place as it is on
Granville. I will probably stay there again. Older building but well
kept up. Restaurant / bar on premise , no breakfast included.

at $59 a night, I could not pass this up, considering its in downtown
Vancouver and within walking distance to cross over to Granville
Island!...the room was small but freshly painted and clean, the bathroom
very clean and roomy and bright. This is an older hotel yes, but it
appears to be well kept...the front desk staff was very helpful with
giving me transportation directions every day. Overall a good
experience...including dinner at Wings in the hotel...only drawback was
the nightclub this hotel is attached to. I could hear the music from my
room, but not disturbing enough not to be able to sleep...again overall
I would stay here again for the right price!...and the free wireless
internet in the room was a great bonus!

I live in Nanaimo, BC and every time that me and my friends decide to go
for a fun night out in Vancouver we stay at this hotel, they have the
best rates you can get for such an amazing location, the rooms are good,
not excellent but not terrible either, exactly what I was expecting for
that price, it gets a little noisy at night, but for me it is
understandable because of the location, the staff is very kind and
friendly, overall a good and pleasant stay that totally met its purpose:
to sleep!.

I was very nervous about staying here after reading other reviews but the
location and price was too good so I gave it a go. Overall I had no problems
with the staff and found them to be pleasant and helpful at all times. The room
was average and dated (had a slight musty smell) but was clean and a decent
size. I stayed Sun - Weds so it was very quite as the downstairs bar closed
early. The location is fantastic and overall it was good basic accommodation if
your standards are not too high. The food in the bar is great. The main problem
was the elevator kept breaking which was a hassle taking suitcases up stairs,
also the street itself is a bit dodgy - nothing too scary but a bit unpleasant
at night if you are are a single female. |
