In my work, I see an awful lot of hotels. And over the years I have
become increasingly picky and particular about the sort of place I stay
at.
Those places have to look after the small details.
The staff has to be pleasant and helpful.
Thee food has to be good.
The beer selection in the bar needs to be interesting.
The room has to be clean and comfortable.
The Westin Bayshore is all of that.
And the location on Coal Harbour, near Stanley Park, makes it even
better.
There is absolutely nothing to complain about at this hotel.
OK, there are no coffee mugs with the in room Starbucks coffee.
But that's a pretty small complaint when everything else is pretty well
perfect.

Birthday wish Arrived at the Westin Bayshore and was a little
disappointed by the dated 60s design. The first hotel room we were
allocated had a great view of the marina and the sea planes landing.
However due to next door neighbours smoking on balcony (considering a
non smoking hotel and hanging over balcony we were moved to the 12th
floor of the tower. The tower had excellent views of the marina and the
mountains. This hotel was booked as it as a celebration of my 30th
Birthday and we decided on somewhere special we were not disappointed.
After one day we returned to find a plate of fruit and pastries with
Happy Birthday which was a lovely touch along with a birthday card. The
staff were very friendly and helpful.
There are plenty of things to do in Vancouver, we arranged to go whale
watching to Victoria, had afternoon tea in the Empress and flew back in
a sea plane a great day all round. The Capilano bridge was a great trip
and zip wires as Grouse Mountain. We then booked a car from reception
and went to whistler for the day which was a great drive and went ion
the famous peak to peak gondola.
Vancouver does have it all beaches, mountains, shops, sports, skiing I
just loved it and the Westin Bayshore was the perfect base for the
perfect holiday.

I just wanted to note what a great job the the staff of the Westin
Bayshore did in late April in hosting a week of G8 Roma-Lyon meetings in
Vancouver.
I have been to a lot of these meetings over the years and I know how
much attention to detail is required to make things work out well. The
meeting rooms were comfortable and functional, the breakfasts and
lunches were very good, the coffee breaks were well done, the reception
was top-notch, not only the location overlooking the marina, but the
food and drinks, and the hotel staff was kind, courteous, friendly and
helpful.
My room was fantastic, overlooking the water, and the view of the
mountains and the marina was spectacular. In fact, it is difficult to
find a view that is not beautiful in Vancouver. The hotel is beautifully
situated right on the water, has great public areas and, of course, my
favorite a Starbucks right in the lobby area. Some of my colleagues
enjoyed swimming in the heated pool and going to the very classy spa at
the end of a long day of meetings.
I say to the Westin staff, congratulations on a job exceptionally well
done, and I have written the hotel manager to let her know how well her
staff performed. It has been a very long time since I wrote in praise of
a hotel, but I thought that exceptional service and hard work should be
encouraged and praised.
I also copied our Canadian counterparts who were responsible for setting
up the meetings so they would also know what a great job the Westin did.

We have stayed here before and as far as we are concerned there is no
other place to stay in Vancouver. We enjoyed our stay very much and
would definitely stay there again. The staff is excellent and I would
dary anyone to say otherwise. All of them go the extra mile for guests.
We highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Westin Bayshore in April 2010 for a
business conference. The hotel is in an excellent location and both
Stanley Park and the downtown area are a 10 to 15 minute walk away. Our
room in the tower was very nice although quite small. It had a vew of
Stanley Park, but the balcony was not big enough for a chair, so we
could only enjoy it from inside the room (it would have been nice to be
able to sit outside). Service in the hotel was consistently excellent.
Every staff member I dealt with was friendly and efficient. The room was
quiet (except for noise from the marina outside) and the common areas of
the hotel were always spotless. The fitness centre was okay but the pool
was not big enough for swimming laps. There were a few small things that
surprised me at a hotel at this price point (my room was $289 a night).
First, they seemed a bit stingy with the in-room suplies. There was no
sewing kit, no shoe shine cloth and no city guide. Small things, but
when I get to a strange city in the middle of the night, I don't want to
leave the room to look for supplies and info. There was a coffee maker
with a good selection of Starbucks tea and coffee, but it only came with
2 paper cups, 2 individual creamers and 3 sugar packets (they were
replaced daily). Again, a bit stingy, and since there were no coffee
mugs in the room we could not make more than one cup of tea or coffee
each. The first day we had breakfast at the buffet downstairs and I was
not impressed. It was $26, and the waffles and bacon I selected were
cold and hard. When I spoke to the hostess, she had the kitchen make me
a fresh order, but the supplies on the buffet were not changed. Some
items on the buffet were finished and were not replaced. Finally, the
room came with a card stating that customers could help the environment
by declining room service. If you chose this option they will give you a
$5 voucher to use in the hotel restaurants. This seems to be a new trend
in hotels, but I find it truly ridiculous. How does it help the
environment if my room isn't cleaned? They only change the sheets if
your request it (which is fine with me), but if I'm paying close to $300
for a hotel room, I don't want to make my own bed and clean my own
bathroom. It seems to me that they are using the environmental angle to
get away with offering less service. On a related note, there was no
bottled water in the room and a sign urged guest to help the environment
by drinking tap water. That's a nice thought, but when I'm in a strange
city and heading out to do some sight seeing, it's nice to be able to
grab a bottle of water to take with me. If hotels are serious about
helping the environment, maybe they should provide reusable water
bottles or coffee flasks (I ended up buying both at the Starbucks
downstairs for $12 each).

I was absolutely floored with the high level of customer service and
attention to detail. From the first impression valet car service to
Nelia at the front desk on our check in; it was non-stop friendly,
courteous, accommodating, respectful, attentive and service driven. I
cannot wait to return here for some personal down time. Of course having
a view of Stanley Park, the mountains and the ocean was a major plus in
making our stay a memorable experience!
