Guest review of the Lonsdale Quay Hotel North
Vancouver

Location, location, location must account for the near 10% occupancy rate. The
hotel occupies the top floors of a shopping mall adjacent to the Seabus
terminal. The view is superb and unbeatable from about 4 rooms and on one side (
odd number rooms) it is ok. The executive rooms on the even number side look out
to the distant view of Vancouver and the bridge across an ocean of roof
tops............ they do have balconies but you can only get the view from the
balcony or couch by craning your neck.........
Furniture is leftover grandparents style though bathrooms have been updated. So
many things did not work - the phone, the deadbolt, the window opener, the
toilet seat.... The first room I was shown was NOISY from the shopping mall
coolers on the roof, the second was just poor quality. The hallway is dingy and
jus do not even think about eh breakfast. It is awful.

The Lonsdale quay is a true 'find'. It's location is great: above the Lonsdale
Market and only minutes from the Sea Bus (which then connects you directly to
the Canada Line and the airport). You can walk the sea wall and stop in at a
great variety of restaurants. It's a very comfortable boutique hotel which went
out of it's way to give us excellent service. We look forward to our next visit.

I am a regular guest at the
Lonsdale Quay Hotel, But the customer service and feel of the
place has gone down hill...fast. (New management?). I stayed longer than
expected due to business. No concierge when switching rooms. I had to move my
own luggage to the other side of the Hotel. The front desk staff didn't know how
late their restaurant was open until!. Housekeeping was constantly knocking on
my door early in the morning despite a do not disturb sign...etc. The hotel
staff and management need to take these reviews seriously, and brush up on
customer service skills. I was the guest, but felt I was "Intruding".

As with most 3-star hotels, positives and negatives. Positives--the location is
good for visitors to North Vancouver or skiing at Grouse Mtn. For first time
visitor to Vancouver, I suggest staying on the city side to get the city "buzz".
The hotel's rooms are good....interesting views to the shipyard to the west
which I enjoyed. The building includes a shopping arcade beneath which was
constructed in 1986 in a vaguely brutalise style with exposed support pillars
and much concrete---the building is not beautiful but the lobby, public areas
and rooms are well decorated. Many restaurants are nearby, the ferry to the city
is 2 minutes away, overnight parking is cheap and secure. The hotel entrance is
difficult to find. Overall, good value for the money, pleasant rooms and fun to
discover the northern side of Vancouver for a frequent visitor to this great
city.
Room Tip: Ask for city side view at the far end of the pier

For the price, this is an excellent place to stay. It's an interesting setup on
the 3rd and 4th floors of an attractive public market building (the market is on
floors 1 and 2). It is a few steps away from the frequent ferry to downtown
Vancouver. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is a fine mid-level hotel. The long
axis of the building is perpendicular to the edge of the inner harbor, so we had
to look to the right out our room's window to see the water. Still, the on-water
location of the whole building was enjoyable. There are a couple of modest but
OK restaurants in the building and several others (perhaps more interesting) a
short walk away from the hotel. During the day there are lots of options for
food at the booths in the market downstairs. The hotel does have a small
breakfast room, which has good food but not as much variety as I would have
liked. On our trips we seek out reasonably priced hotels and hope they are at
least OK. The whole experience at this hotel was much better than OK. If I was
returning to Vancouver, I'd absolutely return to this hotel.
