Hotel Review of the Vancouver Lions Gate Travelodge
Jun 21, 2010
Travelodge, Marine Drive, North Vancouver At first, the location is a little
off-putting. The Travelodge sits on a tight little lot behind a Vietnamese
restaurant and a Denny's, and if not for the big sign by the road, you would
never know it is there. And yes, it is not a sparkling new hotel. But we paid
just $79 per night, and for that it was a great deal. Furnishings were a little
beat, but the room was clean. Internet worked flawlessly. In-room coffee, plus
coffee on 24 hours a day in the lobby. No breakfast provided, but you do get a
20 percent discount at the Denny's. As for getting into Vancouver, you are right
next to the Lions Gate Bridge, so it is an easy drive. Or you can grab the bus
that passes every 10 minutes on Marine Drive and go to Lonsdale Quay to take the
SeaBus across the bay. All in all we were very pleased.

This was my second visit to Vancouver and i decided to stay in North Vancouver
because its the best location for attractions such as Capilano bridge, Grouse
Mountain, Lynn Valley, Lonsdale Quay etc. The hotel was really nice. The rooms
ticked all the boxes been clean and comfortable. The Receptionist was very
helpful knowing every bus to get to all the different attractions . Also the 20%
discount at Denys was a big bonus.

Compared to the other Travelodge properties I’ve stayed at - I would consider
this one as better than most. This motel is well-located to the north of
Vancouver across the Lions Gate Bridge. It is only a short walk from the motel
to the bus stop which runs into Vancouver and connects to all of the tourist
areas like Granville Island. The Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal is a short
distance north on the coast highway. The motel staff are knowledgeable of the
public transportation system. The rooms were clean and not crowded. The lighting
was good. There were only two pillows - could have been more for the size of the
bed. The bathroom was small and only held a shower - no tub. Internet was
accessible. The room had a refrigerator, alarm clock, telephone and the front
desk offered a wake-up phone call. There is a Denny’s and a Vietnamese
restaurant next to the property which offer a 10% discount to motel guests. We
ate take-out from the Vietnamese restaurant and it was very good.
