Haven't been to this hotel for over a year and they continue to renovate it. The
hotel looks even better and the room I stayed in had new furniture and the
bathroom was a delight compared to my previous stay. I would definitely come
back!!

We stayed at the Lions Gate Travelodge for ten days and were impressed with the
room cleanliness, overall conveniences, and especially the helpfulness of the
staff. The 'North Van' location proved perfect for our first stay in the
Vancouver area, permitting quick, hugely scenic jaunts north toward Whistler
(stop in Squamish, too) and eastward toward Chilliwac (more rural, just as
pretty) as well as an easy bus or car ride into downtown 'Van.' AS A BONUS, the
staff went to a lot of extra trouble to locate and return to Ohio a ring we
bought and somehow left behind in our room. Now, how many places have you stayed
that would do that?

We booked two double rooms for our group of 5. Both were dingy, old, and in need
of renovation. Although our rooms were clean, the carpets were stained, the
bathroom tile was three different styles and colors that didn't match, the
toilets weren't seated properly and rocked when you sat down, and the rooms were
very cramped. There was no breakfast, although a Denny's with extremely slow
servers is next door. There is no indoor place for people to gather (our group
likes to play cards at night), so we ended up shoving a bed aside and using a
table from the scorching hot uncovered patio upstairs. The outdoor pool is tiny
but serviceable. The staff are quite friendly and helpful -- it's not their
fault the property is so run down. All in all, I wish we'd spent a bit more to
stay someplace nicer.

Much better than my previous stay. Many rooms have been renovated and minor
inconveniences based on on-going renos. New tiles in the bathroom and shower.
Great staff!! Very friendly and courteous. Location is nice also, as it is close
to Downtown, and many attractions. Hotel Review of

I called first to see if the renovations mentioned in another review were done,
and they are. Even so, we had pretty low expectations, but they were blown away
when we checked in and got into the room (which they even upgraded from a Queen
to a King for free, since it was available). As far
as I can tell, the renovations included new carpet, bedding, paint, and some
furniture and fixtures. The room looks just like the pics on the site, smells
just fine and is clean. The bathroom is small and in need of some help, but it's
as good as possible for an old bath, clean and functional. It's pretty much a
standard, clean, freshened-up 2-star hotel/motel room all around.
I was concerned about the location, too, but it's actually pretty convenient for
those with their own transportation and don't need to be downtown a lot.
This place isn't luxurious, particularly romantic,
or problem-free, BUT it IS one of the more inexpensive hotels with free parking,
good wifi, clean rooms and nice staff in a safe neighborhood (at least it seems
that way) in the Greater Vancouver area. If you're looking for cheap and clean,
it's worth checking out.

The staff is very helpful and wants to insure you have the best stay possible.
The hotel is undergoing renos, and we stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms
which was grand - the bed was great - slept like a baby. The proximity to the
ferry is wonderful - and it's easy to get to - with a number of restaurants
virtually on site they're so close. I was most impressed with the cleanliness,
quietness and great, friendly staff. The price for what you get is awesome. |
