The location on Robson Street is good if you're into shopping at small boutique
stores or drinking coffee; there are Starbucks across the street from each other
along with other chain coffee shops. People watching at the hotel patio bar is
not very interesting nor are the bar's patrons. The other huge bar at the hotel
is virtually empty, even late at night. Robson street becomes quite dead at
night; not very interesting in the day either. Not really any good pubs/taverns
on Robson. A lot more activity on Granville at night, which is about a 10-15
minute walk away; it comes to life after 10pm. Try Doolin's Irish Pub on
Grenville. It's a big place, after 10pm it has acoustic music upstairs and a
rock band downstairs; wide variety of people. Still, Grenville is a bit rough on
the edges and doesn't have a lot of decent options. I wasn't able to find a
central nightlife area in Vancouver. The city really comes up short in this
area. Other things to do: visit Gastown area; some interesting private art
galleries, a couple of nice street patio taverns. Ride a bike
Getting around Stanley
Park. High-end shopping at the
Granville Street mall and along
Robson Street; not my thing. A few
other interesting private Art
Galleries scattered about town. Since I'm not into
shopping or fine-dining experiences, for me, 2 days in
Vancouver were plenty;
one might have sufficed.
There is plenty of shopping close by on Robson Street and nice eateries, eg.
Vinada on Robson, Zefferelli's on Robson, Absolute Sugar at the Harbour Centre,
as well as Hamburger Mary's and Cafe Luxy on Davie. If you are looking for
souvenirs then try Canadian Crafts on Robson, very helpful staff.
Great cafe close by serving reasonably
priced, hearty breakfast - Coco Rico Cafe Bistro, 1290 Robson Street.

We had breakfast every morning at the Granville Island Market-we loved this
place! Good coffee, fresh-squeezed juice, and a variety of great baked goods
(esp. Terra Bakery), eaten at a table overlooking False Creek-what could be
better?
I especially enjoyed the jazz club,
O'Doul's Restaurant and Bar, located on
Robson Street. It is
within walking distance.
Also high on our list is Stanley Park, especially the seawall walk-what a
beautiful place!
This hotel is old but the Hotel Location on Robson Street is within walking
distance of many good restaurants like the Keg Steak House and Moxie's.
