Guest Recommendations of the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel Vancouver

Food in the local area: We loved the Japanese place that the concierge actually drove us to in Gastown, it was upstairs and cheap with loads of food and wine... great Christmas Eve!

Our all time favorite was Steamworks in Gastown. Great food, generous serves and great home brew! They also sell coopers pale ale in the bottle shop next door!

We also ate at Grouse Mountain in the pub, which was extremely yummy, with the best views of Vancouver, and other than that stuck to basic food.

Vancouver seemed a little bit of a sleepy town, not somewhere you'd go looking for "nightlife" and a night out dancing till dawn. It's cozy, safe, and great value for money with great service.

There is a Starbucks right opposite the hotel if you prefer to have breakfast there.

The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the main shopping areas and the tourist sightseeing buses leave from outside the hotel if you fancy seeing more of the further away areas.

Canada Place is right on the water front and access to the seawall, it is also close to the wealthy financial district.

All in all, the hotel cannot be beaten for location - 5 minutes into Gastown, 5 minutes to the Heritage District, and of course being right on the water.
