Guest Reviews of the River Rock Casino Hotel Resort

We were looking for a dog friendly weekend getaway close to home (we live in
North Vancouver) and settled on the River Rock. They don't go out of their way
to advertise that they are pet friendly, and many people were taken aback when
they saw us with our dog. We constantly heard "they allow dogs here! I wish I
knew, I would have brought mine!" The hotel lobby is not super easy to find
(it's on the second level) and there's no driveway area for guests to pull into
temporarily (the valet would not let us pull in without paying) while they check
in, so we parked in the parkade which is a fair walk away. We had to make two
trips with our luggage and dog. The room itself was very nice (a king suite),
however the bed was almost too soft and the pillows were almost too thick. The
hotel itself was VERY BUSY due to being attached to the casino. The trek from
our room in the West tower, to the pool in the East tower took us down two
elevators and straight through the main lobby (which can get very busy
especially at night) -- not the most pleasant experience walking through hordes
of casino goers in a robe with soaking we hair! we wished the pool had a more
discreet entrance. In terms of our dog, he had a ball. The grounds offer plenty
of grass and a small boardwalk area for morning and evening outings.
Additionally, McDonald Beach next to the airport is off leash. We went there
more than 6 times during our weekend stay. I wouldn't pay the full advertised
price for this hotel, but if you can find a deal, it's worth it!

My 3 guests from overseas and myself had a very pleasant stay @ the Riverrock
Hotel. We were able to check-in before the 4pm check- in time and that was good
for the jet-lagged guests. Hotel staff were all pleasant and courteous. I
phone-requested to have the 2 suites close together, and on as high a level as
possible...these were satisfied. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my
friends.

We checked in late and everyone was nice. I did call a
few times and each time I was able to talk them down in
the rate. So, I would try a few times before booking.
Depending on who you get, they adjust.
The front desk was nice enough. They didn't seem to have
a lot of personality but they were helpful.
The room was nice. It was a 1 bedroom suite type room. I
liked the set up and we had a great stay. The bed was
comfortable and overall we had a great night.
When I got up at 5:00 AM to leave, there was some
problems to get my car since no one was responding to
the telephone, but after about 10 minutes, it worked
out.
I would stay in this hotel again, but I would not pay
more than about $119-$129 in total since there are many
other hotels in the area at the same level. It is easy
to drive to the airport. We paid $139.00 and it included
breakfast.
Parking was confusing and we could not figure out where
hotel parking was and ended up paying $12.00 for valet
since it was late and I was tired

I showed up for a business conference and there was a
show in the theater, so the parking was impossible so I
had no choice but to valet park after they sent me to a
parking lot and after driving around the lot for 15
minutes I finally got out and then had the valet deal
with it. Then I go inside and staff is so busy with the
show crowd they aren't available to ask for help, I had
to search and finally found the front counter of the
hotel... up the stairs? The suite I had was very nice
but windows do not open, I need fresh air! If you are a
gambler I suppose it is a good place. I found it far to
awkward to get around and deal with my vehicle. In my
opinion, not good for business travel.

Very nice rooms, but being a fresh air freak I was
disappointed when I discovered that the windows in the
rooms didn't open.
