We had stayed at the
Sandman Suites On Davie previously
with very positive experiences. However, we decided this
time that we didn’t have much need to stay downtown, so
we opted for the airport sandman. The A/C in the room
didn’t work, so we called down to the desk. They sent
someone up very quickly who looked at it and told us it
was fine, although it did seem to be quite warm in the
room. Upon leaving for dinner, we realized that our key
cards no longer worked in the door. The desk replaced
them three times, making us go back up to the room to
try them each time, before finally coming up with us to
try it for themselves. They confirmed that the key card
lock must be dead and manually opened the door for us.
They switched us to a new room down the hall, but didn’t
offer to move our bags for us - we moved it all
ourselves and were late for our dinner appt. The A/C in
the new room was working as expected. The rest of the
stay was uneventful.

The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and
impatient. At times, if you asked her too many
questions, she would give you an attitude. Other than
that rude woman, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel in
general. It doesn’t feel like you’re at home. There’s no
"Home Sweet Home" feeling at all.

Convenient airport lodging
We were looking for a place to stay overnight before
flying out the next day. This hotel was relatively easy
to get to by car and it was dead easy to get to the
airport the next day (turn left onto Bridgeport, keep
going to the terminal ...). If you like beige, you’ll
like this hotel. The room was small but we just wanted a
bed. It would have been nice to have a reading lamp on
both sides of the bed, but that’s a game of chance with
most hotels. For a clean, quiet, no fru-fru place to
stay, this hotel did the trick for us.

This hotel is NOT a few blocks from the airport BUT a
good ten minute shuttle bus ride. OK for basic stay but
when advised through Jetline of the hotel no mention was
made that it was the Airport location. CAD35 for taxi to
downtown Vancouver.
The hotel is a long way from any restaurants or eating
places so be warned. Check the location

Its really not that bad. I've stayed at high end hotels
and dives and this is somewhere in between. Had I paid
$150+ for this hotel I'd be writing a bad review. But we
paid $90 for a quick night stay before a flight. If you
are looking for value near the airport this place is
fine. I can see how people do not love this place, as it
is a very basic hotel. But you get what you pay for
people. Don't pay $90/night and expect $150
accommodations. It is similar to most Sandman hotels.

Room so small that there was no place to open our
suitcase. Two chairs, one wedged into the corner between
the bed, desk & night stand. Poor lighting. No
accessible electric plugs. 20 min wait for airport pick
up. Wake up call 10 min late. Expensive restaurant.
The morning airport drop off did work well.
Good restaurant (The Pantry) a short walk to a nearby
hotel.
