I am hugely disappointed and appalled by the response from the hotel
upon calling regarding my concerns. We had originally booked a
reservation with the hotel but cancelled as we chose to stay at the
Holiday Inn Express Airport instead for convenience of the shuttle
times, parking, etc. I called to cancel the original reservation (within
50 minutes) and was not given a cancellation number, nor was I send a
confirmation email for the reservation (which I did receive from HI
Express airport immediately). I have subsequently been charged for the
room at the Riverport even though we cancelled and did not stay there.
The hotel will not refund the false charges and will not take into
consideration my phone records showing time of calls to the hotel for
our cancellation, and the lack of confirmation/cancellation numbers
given to me by the hotel staff.
We are extremely upset and dismayed by this and will not be staying at
any HI Express chain ever again( we always stayed with HI Express
whenever we travelled). We will also be sharing our discouraging account
with all of our friends, family and colleagues to ensure no one that we
know will have the same treatment that we have received.
Check your VISA statements to ensure this hotel has not falsely charged
you for stays you did not have!

Once again we had young hockey players playing hall hockey outside the
door. Where are their parents and chaperones? The hotel has two good
reasons for discouraging this practice: it damages the walls and
irritates other guests (therefore low sleep quality score). They have
magnificent reasons for encouraging hockey teams to stay at the hotel:
revenue and the proximity to the ice. The staff is very attentive and on
the scene as soon as they receive a report. In addition, you can find
out when you make your reservation if there will be hockey juniors at
the hotel during your visit.Guest Reviews of the Holiday Inn Express Suites Riverport

As a Priority Club Member I try to stay in Holiday Inn/Crowne Plaza
hotels throughout Europe and North America for business so i can use the
points for family holidays. This hotel is up there with the very best of
them, firstly the shuttle was just a quick call from the airport phone
and here it actually works compared to some hotels/airport. Everyone at
the hotel was polite couldn't do enough for you. Free Wifi, swimming
pool and close to the facilities of Riverport means everything is
available and a short bus ride (403) takes you to shopping malls or the
skytrain for fast connection to city. It really is only 20mins from the
airport and therefore benefits from no flight noise that other hotels
nearer the airport would....if you need a stop over in YVR for 1 or 2
nights you can't beat this hotel

We had originally booked a 4 night stay but had to only stay 3.
Unfortunately we did not call to cancel the first night. When we arrived
at 1pm our room was not ready. I figured if it was I would pay for the
previous night and if not I would not have to pay. I was clear with the
clerk who had trouble understanding English that because my room was not
ready I wouldn't pay for the previous night.
Upon check-out they demanded payment for my first night even though my
room was not available until 3:05pm.
They did not offer any option other than pay. Unbelievable for a hotel
to double charge a room and then expect me and everyone I can tell to
return. never.
Internet did not work and kids running through the halls well past
midnight.

When choosing this hotel we were influenced by previous reviews and the
free shuttle to and from the Vancouver airport. A phone is available in
the airport foyer to request the shuttle which took about 20 minutes to
arrive. The hotel itself is clean and modern and the rooms furnished to
a much better standard than a typical HI Express in the UK. We were
upgraded to a Junior suite which was equipped with the usual coffee
maker as well as a microwave and a small separate seating area and TV.
We arrived too late to eat locally and left too early to sample the
breakfast - that said, without even asking, we were offered a small
takeout breakfast consisting of a muffin, juice and an apple. Coffee was
available in the dining area 24 hours. The staff were very attentive,
polite and helpful. What let the stay down was the availability of the
shuttle - on the map the hotel doesn't look that far from the airport,
but is about 15 minutes away and with the shuttle only leaving hourly in
the morning meant we had an earlier return trip to the airport than we
had expected. So if you you want somewhere quiet to stay and you've got
your own transport, you won't go far wrong.
