Guest Review Best Western Abercorn Inn Vancouver Airport

After a 10 day vacation in Disneyland, I had booked what I thought was the last
night stay of our trip. We arrived at 11:00 pm, pouring rain, family of 7. As it
turned out, I had booked the wrong date.......and they were sold out! Nancy at
the front desk was AMAZING! She made about 5 calls before she found us a hotel
with vacancy and arranged for the other hotels shuttle to come and pick us up:)
We were saved. I have stayed here many times as well and has always been GREAT!
Thanks

Got a really good deal when I picked up 2 rooms, with king-sized beds and
"over-sized" jacuzzi tubs, by getting them a couple of months in advance. The
location was great, as it was close to the venue we were in town to see.
Reception was friendly and efficient. Housekeeping was fine and the rooms were
nice. Quite roomy with plush carpeting. The beds were very comfortable and the
tv was a nice, newer flatscreen. There's a small fridge, as well.
The bathroom was large, too. Very nice. While our room had a
slightly-larger-than-average tub, it really wasn't any big deal. The jets didn't
have any real power, either. The other room, however, had a really nice walk-up
tub. Smaller sitting area. Personally, I would have rather had the better tub.
The wifi is slow. The continental breakfast was nothing to write home about. We
ordered off the menu and had quite a nice breakfast. Nice, little pub/lounge is
attached to the hotel. Great staff.
This would have been a glowing report, had it not been for the room above us.
Judging by the amount of heavy-footed pacing that was going on, one might assume
that it was a work room. When I checked, it turned out to be another guest room.
Started up at 6:30 am and didn't quit until after 10:30 pm. Both days we were at
the hotel. It wasn't a party. Just somebody walking...a lot.
Maybe it was just time that we had a not-so-good experience. At the time,
however, I thought that the soundproofing could be improved.

We left our car here on the "Park Sleep and Fly" rate and when we returned
someone had drop kicked the side of the door causing $2500 in damage. We told
the clerk at the front and she didn't seem to care. We phoned the manager and
wrote Best Western and again no response.
Obviously this is a sketchy area as other reviews have stated and they offer no
security in the parking lot. It seems like this is a very common occurrence and
the hotel will do nothing about it. It is easy to say that this could happen
anywhere but not when it happens frequently. The hotel should increase security
or strongly warn people not to park here. If you don't have a car then the hotel
is fine.
