Buddhist Temple Richmond
History
|
| Founded by a group of Chinese immigrants in the late 70's, the group sought to
build an authentic temple where Lower Mainland Buddhists could practice and
propagate Buddhism. In 1993, the group received the 125 Centennial Award from
the Lieutenant Governor of Canada for Significant Contribution to the Canadian
Community. |

|
| The Temple hosts an extensive library in both Chinese and English, for public
reading and reference. The vegetarian hall gives way to a farm that donates over
10,000 lbs of produce to local Food Banks every year. Guided tours are free of
charge on request from various civic organizations. |
